Abstract [en]

The aim of this article is to discuss ethical dilemmas that occur in doing research on social entrepreneurial sport ventures. Three cases that highlight ethical dilemmas in research on social entrepreneurship and sport are presented and ethically reflected upon. The data comprise interviews with representatives, field notes from observations and analyses of documents concerning the ventures. Three things make research in this area extra problematic: first, ‘social good’ in social entrepreneurship and sport implies a normative perspective. It is permeated by ideology and ethics. Second, what is considered as ‘social good’ may differ between sectors of society as the entrepreneur crosses boundaries. What is valid as a resource and capital in one sector might not be so in another one, and what is legal within one sector may be illegal in another. Third, social entrepreneurs may have their own intentions with regard to participating in research, which may challenge our credibility as researchers. Therefore, we need, as professionals, to take a step back and be both critical of our work and make this criticism visible, which is to some extent what we are doing by writing this article.

Abstract [sv]

Linnéuniversitetet är ett av två lärosäten som deltar i den försöksverksamhet med lämplighetsbedömning i samband med antagning till lärar- och förskollärarutbildningen, som initierats av utbildningsdepartementet och som Universitets- och högskolerådet (UHR) ytterst ansvarar för. Jönköping University är det andra lärosätet. Beslutet om vilka lärosäten som skulle få delta i försöksverksamheten fattades efter ansökan och extern granskning av UHR 2014-05-22.  Försöksverksamheten genomförs under 2015–2018, medan lärosätenas uppdrag sträcker sig fram till och med juni 2017, och UHR ska senast den 3 maj 2018 redovisa utfallet av uppdraget till regeringen. I det följande beskrivs försöksverksamheten vid Linnéuniversitetet, dvs. hur denna förberetts, organiserats och genomförts, vilket utfall försöksverksamhetens skarpa prövning resulterat i samt hur lämplighetsbedömningen upplevts av involverade sökande och bedömare.

Abstract [en]

Induction programmes including assessments of suitability were introduced in Sweden 2011 and were in use for three years. The purpose of this study is to examine the conditions for and the consequences of giving the induction programme a gatekeeper function to the teaching profession. The empirical basis consists of a web-based survey, which involves approximately 100 school principals and preschool heads. The study shows that the conditions for a fair assessment of suitability were not established. The assessment task was complex; those responsible for the assessments were not sufficiently prepared. The induction employments varied in coherence and in demands. The results support bringing the gatekeeper-function back into teacher education and focusing the induction programme on support and development.
