Abstract [en]

This study attempts to capture a holistic view of the phenomenon of ageing and what kind of impact information and communication technologies can have on the quality of life in ageing society, with special focus on health care. The systemic view recognizes the different perspectives of patients, front line care providers and the health care organization. The ultimate goal is to scrutinize the value co-creation opportunities as well as the challenges and risks when innovative technology is implemented in a complex service ecosystem. The empirical material is collected through an observational study at an elderly care unit in Tokyo, Japan, where robots are used in order to facilitate different kinds of social interaction among the elderly patients. In this context, it is highly relevant to discuss what kind of innovations can be considered as both desirable and feasible – and how the decisions can best be guided by different perspectives.

Abstract [en]

According to a vision for eHealth launched in 2016 by the Swedish Government, Sweden will be leading the way in using the potential of digitalization and eHealth to help people achieve a good and equal health. To achieve this vision, we argue that initiatives in eHealth need to augment a health promotion perspective. This implies a more preventive approach that transforms the health concept to a continuous participative process over the life course. A stronger emphasis on consumer technologies is needed to understand how interaction with web based and mobile systems may affect health related choices, and how to empower people to pursue a healthy lifestyle. A topic of particular significance is how mobile applications may utilize the theoretical principles for behavior change. In this context, it is relevant to analyze how nudges can be implemented in a mobile context. We propose that more research is needed in this area.

Abstract [en]

In this paper our aim is to study the co-creation of value in E-learning in the context of Swedish higher education. In order to conceptualize the value realization in learning processes, we propose a framework based on service dominant logic and service science as well as on the revised Bloom’s taxonomy. The service science approach contends that universities and teachers can only propose value of education and offer resources to its realization, but the real value of learning is always created collaboratively and interactively with learners and learner networks. The interactive participation within learning networks entails that it is not sufficient to only acquire factual knowledge from others but it is also necessary to create and exchange new knowledge. In terms of the revised Bloom’s taxonomy this implies a shift from lower to higher order of thinking, towards more abstract forms of cognitive skills. We suggest that a successful interactive value realization in the learning process can facilitate the anticipated progress from passive to active learners. A pilot test has been conducted at the end of the spring semester 2015 on two distance based courses for bachelor students offered by the Department of Computer Science at Linnaeus University. The result from this preliminary survey aims to point out the direction for further research efforts.

Abstract [en]

The fast progressing development of mobile technologies and health applications has given rise to trends like health tracking and quantify self. This kind of mobile health applications can measure an increasing amount of physiological parameters, which implies an increasing interconnectivity between users and mobile technologies. An explorative pre-study was made which studied the relation between users and mobile technologies on students in Sweden and Albania. The results imply an increasing interconnectivity between users and mobile technologies and this can be considered as both a physical and psychological phenomenon. From a system perspective the physiological and digital systems can be seen as converging, driven by both technical innovations and user behavior. This blurring of system boundaries requires for reflections within philosophy and ethics as well as security and integrity. The concept of Physio-digital convergence is proposed as a perspective to further analyze this development. Recommendations on further research include integrity and security issues, which are both pointed out as critical aspects in this context.

Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This paper explores the current context of collaboration between small local food producers. The aim is to facilitate the design and maintenance of trustworthy collaborative e-marketplaces containing clusters of SMEs. An ethnographic approach was used and data was collected through observations, interviews and questionnaires. Our findings reveal both drivers to exploit and barriers to harness enabling trustworthy collaboration. Our current test bed is based on a research and design context that lacks mechanisms for governance. To take full advantage of the drivers and to tackle the barriers in a fruitful way, there is a need for a flexible infrastructure that allow for structured requirements, contractual agreements and validation of proposed collaboration services. To address this, we take advantage of recent developments in cloud computing, more specifically the integration of Platform as a Service (PaaS) in the support system.
