Abstract [en]

Female archetypes in women satire emanate from Ancient Roman time and are still in use. Their purpose was to ridicule and/or categorise women. One typical example is the elderly, love sick woman. She occurs in early, Roman comedy, in operas by Mozart and in slapstick today. She can also be portrayed as a witch. An other one is the young woman, too young to know about love, but old enough to long for it. 

The partakers are invited to try out and play with various vocal technics which makes this paper an investigation in artistic methods as well as artistic pedagogy. How do the archetypes manifest physically and emotionally in the voice and the body? In addition the paper asks how unique an individual voice is. Do ancient female archetypes still lurk within the new liberal concept of the unique individual?

Vilka förväntningar hade samtiden på en aristokratisk dam i England under tidigt 1600-tal? Genom att se vad den samtida musik och text som korsade Frances Howards (1590-1632) väg säger om kvinnligt beteende visar denna artikel i detalj vilken omöjlig uppgift en kvinna vid hovet hade. Kvinnor skulle vara båda sexuellt lättillgängliga, trofasta och kyska. Fördomsfull historieskrivning har lagt skulden för ett mord och en betydande hovskandal på en ung kvinnas axlar. Än idag bär hon skulden, genom ett porträtt som fortfarande är ett av de mest populära på National Portrait Gallery i London.

Abstract [en]

What were the expectations of an aristocratic ladies in England’s early seventeenth century? By looking at what the music and lyrics that crossed Frances Howard’s life (1590-1632) from the actual time said about female behaviour, this article shows in detail how impossible these expectations were. The required behaviour was to be sexually available, yet faithful and chaste. Frances Howard’s prejudicious aftermath has put the blame of a murder and a court scandal on her. A blame that she carries still today, through the way she is portrayd in one of the most popular paintings at the National Portrrait Gallery in London.

Shostakovitch sista tid i livet komplicerades av sviktande hälsa, relationen till nästa generation ryska tonsättare, och relationen till kommunistpartiet. Hans andra violinkonsert tillägnades David Oistrakh. Det ansågs nyskapande och mycket svårt vid urpremiären 1967, men är idag del av standardrepertoaren för violinsolister.

Emilie Luise Friderica Mayer som levde 1812-1883 var med sina 8 symfonier, 15 konsertouvertyrer, mycket musik för piano, röst, fiol med mera, en av 1800-talets mest framstående tonsättare med stora publiksuccéer även under sin levnad. Skamligt bortglömd av eftervärlden.
