Abstract [en]

The phenomenon of Technostress is becoming increasingly relevant in society andthus in the world of work. Especially since the Covid-19 pandemic and theaccompanying shift to the home-office, this topic is becoming ever more present incompanies. In addition to possible consequences, it is often also a matter of potentialprevention and predictors. The aim of the research of this paper is to answer the question, which influence aTransformational Leadership style has on the perceived Technostress Level ofemployees in a company operating in the Fast-Moving-Consumer-Goods (FMCG)industry. For this purpose, the following research question is posed: “How does theTransformational Leadership Level of the line manager impact the employee’sperceived Technostress Level?” To answer the research question, a quantitative studywas conducted. The study further addresses possible predictors and moderatorvariables for the mentioned relationship, investigating the influence of gender, educational level, age, department, and workplace. The responses to the questionnaires indicate that the younger the age groups the lowerthe Technostress Level was. In contrast, the remaining variables did not seem to havea direct influence on the Technostress Level, nor on the relationship between the twomain variables. While Transformational Leadership showed no influence on theTechnostress Level of all employees, this was contrary for the group of employeessuffering above-average from Technostress. In addition, there were significantinfluences of two Transformational Leadership dimensions on Technostress, as wellas of Transformational Leadership on a single dimension of Technostress.Further research could address the issue of Transformational Leadership as amoderator variable between Technostress and possible consequences. Additionally, driving research further to review the impact of Transformational Leadership onTechnostress with culture as a moderator variable offers an alluring future researchobjective.
