Abstract [en]

Adolescent young carers are children and adolescents aged between 15 and 17 whoprovide significant and substantial care, assistance or support to a family member(or a friend/neighbour) with a disability, chronic illness, mental health problems orother conditions that require care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the measuresintroduced have shifted a considerable burden of care from the care sector to individuals and families, where the adolescent young carers found among them are quite avulnerable population. Based on a survey of adolescent young carers in Slovenia conducted within the international project Psychosocial support for promoting mentalhealth and well-being among adolescent young carers in Europe (ME-WE), in thischapter we present analysis of the situation of adolescent young carers in Sloveniaduring the COVID-19 pandemic with regard to their mental and physical healthand experiences in this period.
