Vile in Sweden : A folkloristic interview study about vile legends amongst Swedish Bosnians (English)
Abstract [en]

During the war in Bosnia and Hercegovina in 1992 over 50 000 Bosnians fled to Sweden and received permanent asylum. With these refugees, the legends about vile found their way to Sweden.

The aim of this study is to see how and why the role of vile has changed among the respondents since they came to Sweden through conducting interviews with Swedish Bosnians.

The result of the study indicates that vile has become less significant in the lives of the respondents due to the new context. The result also indicates that vile are ecotypified to the nature of the Balkans and has had problems adapting to a Swedish context.
