Linnaeus University, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Department of Film and Literature. (LNUC Concurrences)
2017 (Swedish)In: Mångkulturell barn- och ungdomslitteratur: Analyser / [ed] Maria Andersson, Elina Druker, Lund: Studentlitteratur, 2017, 181-197 p.Chapter in book (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

Otherness in contemporary Swedish children's literature is explored in Kajsa Gordan's and Mia Maria Güettler's picture book Kjelle åker till Indien [Kjelle travels to India] (2011), and Jakob Wegelius' Legenden om Sally Jones [The Legend of Sally Jones] (2008). The analysis considers how patterns of travel narratives may produce and reinforce otherness and exoticism as well as work as a means of decolonising otherness.
