Abstract [en]

The view on leadership has changed over time and a lot of research in this area has beenmade. Not so long time ago the internal communication was discovered as an important factor for successful leadership. Other research in this area has come up with theories that point out media organizations as diverging from other companies when it comes to the leadership in them. This survey investigates just how important this internal communication is when it comes to great leadership. The focus of the investigation is of media organizations and the question if these diverge from other organizations has also been an important part of it. The method that has been conducted is qualitative interviews and the people that have been interviewed were four editors-in-chief and one consultant in internal communication. I have examined these respondents view on internal communication and leadership communication in media organizations. Divergencies in media management from other organizations and whether there is some general way to be a good leader have also been questions for the respondents to answer. The conclusions I have come up with are that the internal communication is very important when it comes to lead an organization. There are also differences between leading media organizations compared to other organizations and the main reason for this is that the people working there are creative and discuss their opinions more with their leaders. When it comes to requirements in special skills being an editor-inchief my conclusion here develops into a new theory. According to this theory there is no general way to lead editorial staff but there is one basic skill that is required which is good

communication.
