Abstract [en]

To create a digital product development process lies within Industry 4.0, which is to work according to Engineering 4.0. Using a 3D model through Engineering 4.0 means that in this study, a furniture company, can eliminate unnecessary and costly steps in their product development process. This leads to maximizing the productivity and designing better products through development of product data that can be used and reused. The purpose of the study is to investigate how to digitize and improve a product development process. The study will conduct interviews that has to be interpreted and analyzed. The empirical findings will be information regarding the current product development process. Possible improvement areas were found and investigated which led to analysis, conclusion and recommendations concerning each area. The improvement areas were combined in a new product development process. The benefits and gains from adopting this upgraded product development process can be found in chapter six.
