Abstract [en]

Several years ago, Goleman’s research, along with several other recent studies, clearly shows that emotional intelligence is considered an important factor for leadership. The most effective leaders should have a high degree of emotional intelligence, is to say not Intelligent Quotient or technical skills as before. Conversely, without EI, a person can have the best training in the world, an incisive, analytical mind, but these can not build the great leader. (Goleman 1998,p.82). The emotionally intelligent leader can be the crucial factor for indicating the good working environment within the organization. However, other factors may impact the business climate as well.

The intent of this study is to examine the relationship between leadership styles, leadership competencies and emotional intelligence competency which affects the organization’s climate. Furthermore, the multinational company in Thailand is examined as the case study in order to help us with our understanding in the relationship between an emotional intelligent leader and his business surroundings.
