Jag ville skriva om smärta. Vad kan det göra med en människa, att befinna sig i kronisk smärta? När gränsen mellan tankar, omvärld och den egna kroppen blir oklar. Under arbetets gång växte Malkom fram, en person som bär på lidandets börda.

Att lära känna Malkom och hans historia påminde om att leta sig fram i ett arkiv. Jag fick ta del av hans inre livs småbitar, och försökte pussla ihop dem. Det kändes sedan naturligt att lägga tillbaka alla fragment i arkivlådan.

Det var min ambition att skriva ett verk utan någon yttre berättarröst. Jag ville att berättelsen skulle berätta sig själv, såsom den först visade sig för mig.

I wanted to write about pain. What can the state of chronic pain do to a person? When the boundary between thoughts, the outside world and one's own body becomes blurred. During the course of the work, Malkom emerged, a person who bears the burden of this kind of suffering.

Getting to know Malkom and his story was a lot like exploring an archive. I got to see the pieces of his inner life, and tried to put them together. It later felt natural to put all the fragments back into the archive box.

It was my ambition to create a work without an external narrative voice. I wanted the story to tell itself, the way it first appeared to me.
