Abstract [en]
To shed the light on how gamification helps children to engage in heritage conservation efforts, the present work uses the pragmatic voice in investigating gamification abilities to instill heritage sites' appreciation in children at the pre-visit stage. Based on the research framework guided by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and by the means of surveys with children, the current study is conducted. This study demonstrates the influence of various motivations emerging from gamification for children namely enjoyment, usefulness, ease of use, social influence, and perceived knowledge, on children’s perceived heritage values and their intentions to visit the sites as a basis for raising their appreciation of these sites. In total, this work is the first step in the academic studies of sustainability, tourism, and conservation in the heritage field to fill the gap of studying children’s engagement in heritage tourism and heritage conservation as well as gamification role in their engagement.
