This study examines the actions of former Colombian President Alvaro Uribeduring the period 2002-2010 and his measures to achieve internal security. To helpwith the investigation, the study uses an analysis model with components of realism.The study shows that there are tendencies towards realism in the actions of thecountry's former president Alvaro Uribe. The choice of time period was made tocenter the period when the disarmament of Colombia's paramilitary umbrellaorganization OAS (Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia) took place, and for AlvaroUribe to hold the presidency and play a central and supervisory role in the process.The situation with the country's paramilitary groups is a central and controversialtheme in today's Colombia. To achieve results, the study has used reports and datafrom human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch, UN and others.
