Value Stream Analysis - Mapping and Streamlining of Process Flows (English)
Abstract [en]

Continuous improvement and streamlining of processes are necessary to ensure that companies establish and maintain competitive advantage. To be able to streamline production, visualizations of processes are required to identify wastes and bottlenecks. A value stream map is a tool to visualize production processes and thereby enable the possibility to expose and eliminate wastes as well as bottlenecks. The goal of the study is therefore with the help of a value stream map give suggestions on methods to help streamline process flows at the case company.

The study was conducted by observations, interviews, and literature documentation to ensure full validity and reliability. The study was based on two value flows for two different products and resulted in that the case company should consider decreasing tied up capital in inventories as well as upgrading internal systems such as the maintenance system.
