Abstract [en]

Changes that education has been experiencing lately due to various factors forced it to reshape its objectives. These changes have brought many interesting aspects but using them in the actual teaching process requires further work. Even though each school subject experiences this revolution in its own individual way there are areas which share simultaneous values andcould support one another in meeting the educational needs of the twenty-first century. Among these areas are IE, ICT, the new media and teaching world history which are independent academic fields, but in the case of contemporary education should not be seen separately. Apart from the mutual objectives for preparing students for life, these areas share another important aspect in that they have the potential to influence society so that social relations could be improved. The literature review in a form of narrative analysis of the available sources connected with these fields shows exactly the mentioned values. Apart from that, the discussion for being more comprehensive is placed in the context of teaching a foreign language in Poland on which the analysis is based. Another reason for referring to the specific context is that apart from presenting the value of combining IE, ICT, the new media, teaching world history on the example of FLT, the thesis aims to be a guide for teachers that can help them in combining these areas by easing fears about their complexity so that teachers would feel encouraged to use these areas in the lesson which could lead to improving the level of teaching in general.
