This study aims to investigate how three Swedish newspapers portray Josip Broz Tito and Yugoslavia. The newspapers were selected based on their political stance, which makes for an interesting comparison with the goal to see if the news has major political differences or similarities. The study will examine the newspapers' news content based on three selected events: Tito leaving the Cominform in 1948, Tito becoming president in 1953, and Tito's death in 1980, and with the selected events, Yugoslavia will also be examined. The study's results showed that the presentation of Tito and Yugoslavia for the first event was overwhelmingly negative from all newspapers, with a few positive elements. The second event showed a relatively neutral outcome with few news reports from each newspaper. The third event demonstrated a significantly more positive image of Tito, but still a negative image of Yugoslavia. The study also demonstrated that greater similarities were presented than differences and that the newspapers' political views did not take too much of a place in the news reporting for each newspaper.
