The conflict in Syria has been going on for more than 11 years, during which time many foreign powers have intervened in the war. Russia and Turkey have been some of the main actors that have participated in the war since it broke out, both have intervened for different purposes and have supported different groups during these years.The purpose of this study is to analyse the intervention of Russia and Turkey in the Syrian civil war since it broke out, until 2022. This case study used realism and social constructivism as theories to get different perspectives and the on those two countries acted in the Syrian civil war. The result of this study shows the reasons why both Russia and Turkey intervened in Syria, also which motives they had to act the way they did. The study showed the similarities and differences between Russia and Turkey in the Syrian civil war from 2011 to 2022. Both theories were important to analyse the details behind the Russian and the Turkish intervention.
