Abstract [en]

The purpose of the essay was to, through the analysis of autobiographies, gain a better understanding of what it is like to grow up in a family wherethere is alcohol abuse, to identify the children's protective and risk factors, and to analyze how attachment is affected in a growing up environmentwhere there is alcohol abuse. The study used a qualitative approach, and thephilosophy of science was hermeneutic. We choose to use aphenomenological perspective to better understand the subject from a newangle. Five autobiographies were used as an empirical basis for the study.Attachment theory was our theory of choice, as we felt that children in theseabusive relationships may develop a damaged attachment to their parents. The prominent factors that stood out in the texts were the expression ofaddiction risk factors, protective factors and the impact of addiction onattachment. The results show that children regardless of background havesimilar experiences in these environments and a strong connection can be thefactor that makes them fail or triumph.
