Abstract [en]

This thesis examines the role of Swedish national culture in relation to the international CSR of Swedish MNEs. As these concepts share an intriguing yet largely unexplored dynamic, the ambition was to shed light on and examine the extent to which certain aspects and characteristics of national culture are perceived to be influential within different cultural contexts. By utilizing Hofstede’s six dimensions of national culture as a base framework and examining the topic through four distinct cases, the researchers were able to conclude that Swedish national culture is perceived as influential in international CSR of Swedish MNEs. Additionally, it was found that although some of the six dimensions were perceived as influential, others were not, and instead alternative aspects of Swedish national culture emerged as potentially influential. Finally, potential challenges that may arise regarding the research topic were analyzed and discussed. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings together with suggestions for future research were then discussed and presented.
