Abstract [en]

My writing project falls into the genre of Coming of Age, which often focuses on teenage characters on the cusp of adulthood and follows their journey of self-discovery and understanding of their surroundings. The themes in my text include love, class, and belonging, revolving around a young woman's experiences in late 1980s London. The events are based on my own experiences fused with fiction, using memories, photographs, diary entries, and letters. The plot centers around a young, impulsive, and idealistic girl from a small town who encounters the cosmopolitan city of London and a different reality, leading to a major, life-changing heartbreak. Each chapter begins with a quote from a song from that period, except for the epilogue which opens with a current song lyric.
