The aim of the study is to analyze the media's coverage of a youth associated with a criminal network in the incident at a "gym in Vasastan" and its subsequent intervention. The study aims to contribute to an enhanced understanding of the dominant discourses present in news articles concerning youth belonging to criminal networks. Articles from the newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen are analyzed in the study. The news articles are analyzed using Fairclough's three-dimensional model as a theoretical framework. The results of the study are analyzed using the two theoretical concepts of representation and stereotyping, as well as previous research. The findings of the study indicate that the newspaper articles contribute to the perpetuation of the discourse representing youth belonging to criminal networks as dangerous. Furthermore, the results also showed that based on how the youth were represented in the media, it was emphasized that there was a need for repressive measures in society.
