The personality of an artist sometimes overwrites the artistry out of curiosity and intent to relate to the person that captivates us so. It also lets us access some sort of content to help us interpret a piece of art where its expression baffles us. It then turns into a form of exotism where what we can´t comprehend about the art translates into a foreign esoterism explained by either madness or other factors that can´t be related to. Out of that we don´t have to say how we feel or lack of what we see as its incomprehensible and so we simply judge by its contents value in terms of realistic depiction, skillful technique or other. This essay is about diverting the person from the art for a truthful and honest approach of the works by Georgia O´Keeffe. With the compositional interpretation method of Gillian Rose, I have approached three works by O´Keeffe before I turned to the biographic analysis of her artistry working from Roxanna Robinsons great biography- Georgia O´Keeffe: A Life, and other scholarly written around her. With the theories of Susan Sontag, I undertook O´Keeffe´s life story with an intent to separate intimate, personal details from current events in her life and actualities that surrounded her. This out of respect for her spoken desire and adamant attitude towards a private life, rejection to explain her work and proud integrity.
