Maskinistspelet : A survey regarding if a game can serve as a useful addition to the teaching in the Maritime College (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

In this report, it has been studied if a board game can be a good complement to the rest of the teaching of the marine engineer program at Kalmar Maritime Academy. A board game was produced and evaluated by students.

The idea of this work has been to give students an alternative learning technique. This study technique is not related to the teaching at the maritime academy. With help of the game it has been explored what students think about the use of a board game to learn parts of various topics in education.

To seek answers to our problem, we have carried out a qualitative study. We inductively assumed empirical with a pragmatic approach Interviews of a relatively high degree of standardization has been made with students and teachers.

It is not possible to determine if this board game is, or is not a good complement to the rest of the teaching when taking into consideration that study techniques are individual for each student.
