Abstract [en]

I this article I try to connect the development of agrarian capitalism in England and the enclosure movements with the colonisation of North America and the expansion of the British empire. I see the enclosures and emigration from England as a driving force for English and British settlements in North America and I explore the establishment of agrarian capitalism in the English/British colonies in the 1600s and the 1700s. I focus on the conquer of land and its privatization as well as labor recruitments in Great Britain for work for the new landlords in the colonies.
