Abstract [en]

The aim of this thesis has been to investigate whether or not the integration politics of Sweden does what the intentions of it are and how language affect this. By performing semi-structural interviews with immigrants, who have been living in Sweden for a relatively short period of time, about their own thoughts and views have I gotten to the conclusion of this study.  I came to the conclusion that most of these immigrants still feel segregated and that the lack of language is a big part of that. There is some evidence that women feel more integrated then men do but there is still more work to explore this. There is also some prof that immigrants feel somewhat isolated from their community and its members because they cannot fully use the Swedish language.
