香港有新聞自由嗎? (Chinese)
Abstract [en]

On July 1st, 1997, United Kingdom hands over Hong Kong to China. Through the One Country, Two Systems-policy and the newly founded constitution, Basic Law, Hong Kong is authorized to enjoy a high degree of autonomy. That autonomy includes freedom of the press through Basic Law article 27. However, the reality is somewhat different. Through a scene analysis, regarding incidents where press freedom has been compromised, and a qualitative analysis of content, concerning the constitution, interesting facts have occurred. With the addition of statements from experts and organizations within the area of press freedom, I have, through a modified normative theory where "is" reflects the actual situation whilst "ought" reflect the constitution, been able to evince the real situation in Hong Kong regarding press freedom. This essay will give a greater understanding on how China works to curb criticism even outside of their actual territory and this essay can also contribute to give Taiwan a realistic situation scenario if Taiwan, as China wishes, unifies with China under the principles of One Country, Two Systems.
