Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study aims to investigate passengers’ safety awareness onboard passenger vessels with overnight stay onboard. The results are then compared with the results from a previous study conducted onboard passenger vessels with no overnight stay onboard. Primary data was collected on board by conducting interviews with standardized and structured questionnaires. The study was conducted onboard passenger vessels with overnight stay onboard that was not subject for the requirements regarding mustering of newly embarked passengers. The results show that passengers onboard passenger vessels with overnight stay are more susceptible to absorb information regarding the location of the life boats/life rafts and the life wests than passengers onboard passenger vessels without overnight stay. The tendency is the same regarding the awareness of the location of the nearest assembly station as more respondents onboard can tell where the nearest assembly station is located. However, the results indicates that passengers have a lack of awareness about the concept of assembly stations onboard, even though they have been informed about it via PA-announcement and info-signs.
