Abstract [en]
Due to war, injustice and persecution there is more children than ever before that are forced to leave their home countries. The number of children arriving to Sweden is far more than ever before. With our study we are investigating how these children integrate in the Swedish society. The study has been done through six semi-structured interviews with different personal. We conducted three interviews with staff from the asylum-residence and three interviews with staff from PUT-residence. There are two types of refuges in our study. There are those who have their resident permits and those who are trying to get one. Our study is also investigating how the employees are working with integration with the children and the possible difficulties they are facing along the way. Earlier research and our interviews show that school, language and leisure are of importance when a child is going to be well integrated in the society. The negative of the result is the lack of structured cooperation between homes for care and housing (HVB) and other actors in the society. It also appears that the unaccompanied children are a resistant group despite the difficulties they have been through. They do have a great desire to learn the language and mature.
