Abstract [en]

Knowledge management in project-based organizations is increasingly attracting attention among researchers and practitioners. However, little research has been done in the area that integrates time orientation and knowledge interventions. Projects are considered to operate within a time limit and are very knowledge intensive. Therefore, effective ways of knowledge management are needed to deliver successful and timely projects. This thesis investigates this subject, focusing on how time ori-entation and knowledge interventions are integrated to improve project outcome. The empirical research consists of interviews with project managers in different types of project organizations. The perceptions and experiences of the interviewees are used to construct a model of time orientation and knowledge interventions in project organizations. Time orientations are shown to play a critical role in the success or fail-ure of projects. The model integrates time orientations into the project life cycle and illustrates how effectively knowledge interventions can be used to achieve different project milestones and meet overall deadlines.
