Intellectual disabled parents caring capacity. (English)
Abstract [en]

The aim of this study was to deepen the knowledge about the caring capacity of parents who hasintellectual disability. Ten research studies was selected based on the three thermes: The ability ofparenting when the person has a intellectual disability, the parents own childhood conditions andhow that effected there parenting, parent education and socialworkers experiences of working withfamilies were that at least one of the parents had intellectual disability. The method used was aliterature study. Results of the studies showed that parents with intellectual disability needs supportin their role as a parent, also that their children defines to be a risk group. Parents who had achildhood conditions with abuse, trauma or maltreatment often need more support than otherparents. The result from the study with the socialworkers showed that it is difficult to find supportwhich is suited and right for the family. The australian parents education had great results and isnow for a swedish context. Results of the study were analyzed with the help of the studies twoconcepts: intellectual disability and parents caring capacity.
