    Abstract [en]

    Electronic control engine management systems today totally dominates the market for combustion engines in the automotive industry. Programable systems for the aftermaket has also become more common. At Växjö University the department of Mechanical Engineering has invested in a MBE programmable enginge management system, controling both fuel and ignition. The task was to apply the system to the school’s carburettor equipped test engine. Included was also to finalize the engine testing cell and to translate the MBE-instructions. Essential knowledge was collected and the instructions translated. The work continued finalizing the engine testing cell and mounting the MBE-system sensors, throttlebodies and ignition coils on the engine. Then the throttle position sensor and ignition was tuned. After that the engine was started and tuned. The engine was tuned within 1500-4500 rpm for maximum power. The tourqe that had earlier dropped above 4500 rpm was now constant to 5000 rpm. A remarkable power increase of 14 hp was therfore accomplished.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this work has been to investigate aqua (hydro) planing. Aqua (hydro) planing is much discussed as a phenomenon and all drivers should know its presence. However, there are a lot of different opinions of its extent, the circumstances around it, its harmful effects and risk factor. The reason for the title "exaggeration or hidden extent" comes from the different opinions there are of its cause, extent and consequence. This is not only in Sweden. During the work I've been in contact with a lot of people from different countries. This work has been quite time-consuming, but it's been fun and I've learned a lot. I have had to revaluate a lot of thoughts and opinions that I had before I started for the facts that I've taken part of. What sometimes seemed so obvious to me is not so obvious today. However, a wet road is a dangerous road.

    Abstract [en]

    The report contains theories, foundations also suggestions regarding improvement of the assembling situation at ITT Flygt AB and line 38, where the pump 2071 are assembled. To improve the assembling in total, I have in my report looked at improvements touching both the assembling, the ergonomics and also the flow. The investigations leads to a more stationary workplace, compared with today. In the suggestions a independent capacity reaches witch is favourable to the customer ruled production at ITT Flygt AB. The ergonomics has been given a central roll in the report and has been analysed from different point of views. Preferably I have chosed a parallel way of assembling, which together with own testing leads to a improved stimulation in the work. The new layout of assembling involves a easy way of adjusting the workstation so it will fit any one, despite size. The social contact will be stimulated in different ways, which means less movements between the assembling lines, which leads to a improvement of the assembling. As a conclusion the new layouts of the workstations implies effectiveness in form of a better psycho-social environment, a less use of time and less number of moved meters per assembled pump.

Total Productive Maintenance, TPM, is an approach that many companies have implemented in order to reduce these losses. This study has focused on the factors that are important for a successful implementation of TPM. In order to find these factors the authors have conducted a case study at one of AB SKF's manufacturing plants in Göteborg.

    Abstract [en]

    Following diploma work is performed at BRIO Toys AB. BRIO is today the worlds largest producing company of wooden toys. Their main office is located in Osby, southern Sweden. The thesis covers the problem when glued beech lamellas split up after gluing at BRIO AB:s unit in Killeberg, southern Sweden. BRIO is purchasing the dried beech lamellas from a supplier and thereafter they planes and glues together. After the gluing, the lamellas in some cases split up. Experiments have been performed in the production chain to investigate the causes to the problem. The emphases in the work are on moisture content, glue spread and the strength of the glue joint. The experiments have shown on big moisturize spread on the lamellas and a not satisfying spreading of glue. Some of the suppliers are today delivering wood with non-satisfying moisture content. If BRIO demands accurate moisture content from the suppliers and improve their own process of gluing, considering pressure and glue spreading, a more reliable process will be managed.
