    Abstract [en]

    The problems that occur when obtaining or realising Standardsytem within an organisation,

    can be exhaustive if the enterprise rushes to a desicion. Furthermore, this practical

    application could be a burden instead of an opportunity. The method for obtaining realising

    a standardsystem is an area that has not been studied to any greater extents. In the present,

    the SIV-method (SIV: Standardsystem in business) is a general method used in the

    relization of a standardsystem. The SIV-method has been developed by amongst others,

    Anders G. Nilsson, in a project assigned by the V institute in Stockholm, Sweden. The

    reason for this thesis is that the SIV-method is not considered complete and therefore we

    will attempt to investigate this in a practical case. The purpose of this thesis is to test the

    Siv-method in an organisations process for acquiring a standardsystem.

    This research is co-operated in with the enterprise of Koneo. That is in need of a

    standardsytem that concerns and operates the intergration of a Customer Relation

    Managment system, CRM- system. After accomplishing our project we can establish that

    SIV-method is useful, by means of that it takes into consideration main parts of the process

    when obtaining a standardsystem.

    Abstract [en]

    We present the detailed account of the quantum(-like) viewpoint to common knowledge. The Binmore-Brandenburger operator approach to the notion of common knowledge is extended to the quantum case. We develop a special quantum(-like) model of common knowledge based on information representations of agents which can be operationally represented by Hermitian operators. For simplicity, we assume that each agent constructs her/his information representation by using just one operator. However, different agents use in general representations based on noncommuting operators, i.e., incompatible representations. The quantum analog of basic system of common knowledge features K1 - K5 is derived.

    Abstract [sv]

    Den här studien har granskat och analyserat på vilka sätt information kan rapporteras direkt från operatören, med hjälp av handdatorer, till underhållspersonalen och produktionschefen utan att fördröjas. Studien har genomförts med tanke på att, i dagsläget, finns det en del viktig information som inte visualiseras och rapporteras inom företagen i tid och på ett bra sätt. Denna situation bidrar till att olika mätningar som genomförs inom företaget grundas på felaktiga informationer som inte är baserade på tidsaktuella och kvalitativa data, och inte baserad på analys av de verkliga aktiviteterna som sker på verksamhetsgolvet. I samband med användningen av Internet och introduktion av konceptet e-underhåll inom industrin, har operatörens roll ändrat från att vara passiv till att bli en aktiv aktör. Den här studien baserar på artiklar och böcker som först och främst handlar om IT, informationsteknologi och e-underhåll, men också på en fallstudie där observationer och intervjuer gjordes på plats på företaget CC Pack i Tibro. Studien har efter analys av det sätt på vilket informationen överförs idag inom företaget, kommit till ett nytt sätt att överföra och rapportera informationen mellan operatörerna, underhållspersonalen och produktionschefen. Detta betyder att informationen, med hjälp av det nya digitala formuläret som kommer att finnas i handdatorer, kommer att rapporteras i realtid när felen inträffar på maskinen. Detta kommer vidare att leda till att informationen ska medverka till att bestämma vilken maskin som ska prioriteras vid underhållsarbete. Det nya sättet att visualisera information med hjälp av handdatorer kommer därtill att minska beslutstid inom underhåll. Produktionschefen kommer att få in i systemet alla stopptider från maskiner i produktionen. E-underhåll är ett relativt nytt område som har flera fördelar men som företagen inte har hunnit utnyttja på ett bra sätt eftersom de resurser som finns inte används på ett effektivt sätt.

    Abstract [en]

    In the last 16 years, more than 200 research articles were published about research-paper recommender systems. We reviewed these articles and present some descriptive statistics in this paper, as well as a discussion about the major advancements and shortcomings and an overview of the most common recommendation concepts and approaches. We found that more than half of the recommendation approaches applied content-based filtering (55 %). Collaborative filtering was applied by only 18% of the reviewed approaches, and graph-based recommendations by 16%. Other recommendation concepts included stereotyping, item-centric recommendations, and hybrid recommendations. The content-based filtering approaches mainly utilized papers that the users had authored, tagged, browsed, or downloaded. TF-IDF was the most frequently applied weighting scheme. In addition to simple terms, n-grams, topics, and citations were utilized to model users' information needs. Our review revealed some shortcomings of the current research. First, it remains unclear which recommendation concepts and approaches are the most promising. For instance, researchers reported different results on the performance of content-based and collaborative filtering. Sometimes content-based filtering performed better than collaborative filtering and sometimes it performed worse. We identified three potential reasons for the ambiguity of the results. (A) Several evaluations had limitations. They were based on strongly pruned datasets, few participants in user studies, or did not use appropriate baselines. (B) Some authors provided little information about their algorithms, which makes it difficult to re-implement the approaches. Consequently, researchers use different implementations of the same recommendations approaches, which might lead to variations in the results. (C) We speculated that minor variations in datasets, algorithms, or user populations inevitably lead to strong variations in the performance of the approaches. Hence, finding the most promising approaches is a challenge. As a second limitation, we noted that many authors neglected to take into account factors other than accuracy, for example overall user satisfaction. In addition, most approaches (81%) neglected the user-modeling process and did not infer information automatically but let users provide keywords, text snippets, or a single paper as input. Information on runtime was provided for 10% of the approaches. Finally, few research papers had an impact on research-paper recommender systems in practice. We also identified a lack of authority and long-term research interest in the field: 73% of the authors published no more than one paper on research-paper recommender systems, and there was little cooperation among different co-author groups. We concluded that several actions could improve the research landscape: developing a common evaluation framework, agreement on the information to include in research papers, a stronger focus on non-accuracy aspects and user modeling, a platform for researchers to exchange information, and an open-source framework that bundles the available recommendation approaches.

    The technology has always been affecting society while technological solutions are rapidly developing, there information gets handled faster than ever. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a robot that performs repetitive tasks that gets handled exactly the same way each time, that normally is taken care of by humans. When it comes to implicit knowledge, it’s often built up by experience and is difficult to communicate and explain to others. This study investigate how Robotic Process Automation affect the business development and the implicit knowledge, that can’t be communicated inside organizations. Our empirical data were collected by using literary sources relevant to this study and research, as well as a qualitative study, which included five organisations: Scania CV AB, OKQ8, Stena Line, Södra and Uddevalla kommun. One disadvantage with the RPA is that they do not meet their full capacity without having internet connection, which Södra have noticed. The business development is therefore most positively affected by the implementation of RPA. Results of our empirical shows that the implicit knowledge is relatively affected by the replacement of humans to RPA-robots. This is because all organisations has been taking act to transfer all of the implicit knowledge explicitly so that the knowledge stays within the business.

    Abstract [en]

    High school students often have problems understanding abstract physical phenomena. Visual aids could facilitate their learning process and help them understand. There also appears to be a need for interactive websites, or programs, that tests the students' knowledge. I have developed a website, <belfrage.info.se>. It is a platform where student can acquire knowledge and test it interactively. A representative segment from the target group has been given the opportunity to evaluate it. The group has given feedback in the form of opinions and suggested improvements. The purpose of this paper was to find out what interested students find difficult in science (physics).

    Ett konstant problem med e-post är mängden skräppost som skickas dagligen och bidrar till en osäkerhet bland hemanvändare samt medför stora kostnader för företag. Att kunna skydda sig och filtrera bort skräppost är av stor vikt. Vad är egentligen skräppost?Programvaror mot skräppost använder flera metoder för att lösa problemet.Arbetet behandlar en av dessa metoder och hur effektivt den används i olika programvaror. Den metod som arbetet fokuserar på är bayesisk filtrering och programvarornas förmåga att utnyttja den. I studien kommer en analys huruvida Spamassassin och GFI MailEssentials utnyttjar bayesisk filtrering utföras. Tester kommer att genomföras med samma förutsättningar på de två programvarorna, det vill säga alla filter och skydd kommer att vara inaktiverade förrutom bayesisk filtrering. Testerna kommer att ge resultat som sedan analyseras där effektiviteten av filtret visar sig.

    Abstract [en]

    This report describes three different time aspects of electronic commerce, then, now and a prediction about what could happen in the future with electronic commerce. The collection of information for the theoretical references has been done via literature studies within the subject, partly with course material but also with, for me, new literature. Beside the theoretical references, I also have intervjued a couple of respondents at the company Bergman & Beving Services to make an empirical study within the chosen subject. The purpose is that through a comparison between theory and empiri try to survey how electronic com-merce has looked until now, and make a prediction about what could happen in the future.

    The conclusions that I have made after the study, is that during the 1970’s it was expensive and complicated for companies to begin with electronic commerce. This means that the electronic commerce during this time mostly was adjusted for larger companies. Later on standards where created for how the data transfer would be carried out, which made the process simpler. The breakthrough that made smaller companies able to apply the electronic commerce came with HTML and the Internet. Even consumers at this point began to realize what potential the Internet had. During the late 1990’s the usage of electronic commerce fell when the dotcom-bubble broke down. One of the factors which contributed to the breakdown was that companies without a working business model tried to make business using the Internet.

    The present development of electronic commerce is however done in a healthier way. Studies have been made with the conclusion that about 25% of the Swedish companies turnover was based on electronic commerce. Nevertheless there are wide gaps between different industries. The logistic industry is the most developing industry within electronic commerce.

    The future electronic commerce is mostly based on different kinds of integrations. For example, vendor managed inventories are expected to control entire supply chains which is called Network Managed Supply. Other kinds of integrations is integrations within the own organisation that will maximize the effects of using integrations. This can happen by using the base that is built today. Concerning standards in the future, XML-based standards seem to become the most frequently used standard. EDIFACT is in comparison with XML-based standards to expensive and to complicated to implement, which points to the fact that a change of generations is probably about to happen. One thing that can be problem-atic considering electronic commerce, is managing the information. That is why it is important to have a well working information logistics.

    Att skapa fördelar med lean kräver en gedigen hängivenhet i tillämpningen av lean filosofin. Studier har påvisat svårigheter hos medelstora tillverkningsföretag vid tillämpning av lean att skapa synergier mellan hantering av efterfrågan och lagerstyrning. En efterfrågehantering som skapat ojämnt flöde utav produktionsorder som lett till problematik med voluminösa och inkuranta lagernivåer.

    Med den problematiken som grund har en fallstudie utförts på ett medelstort tillverkningsföretag. Studien har syftat till att undersöka brister i efterfrågehantering, produktionsplanering samt lagerstyrning hos fallföretaget utifrån ett lean perspektiv samt föreslå förbättringsåtgärder. Studien har antagit en hermeneutisk utgångspunkt med en deduktiv ansats där teori först studerats för att sedermera samla in empiri för jämförelse.

    Resultatet av studien blev förslag på förbättringsmöjligheter för fallföretaget som då besvarat frågeställningarna hur ett tillverkningsföretag kan förbättra både sitt interna och externa lagerflöde. Studien har också lyft problematiken till ljuset och öppnat upp för diskussion hur ett företag med transparens och kommunikation kan förbättra varuflödet tillsammans med kunder.

    Det här arbetet är ett utvecklingsprojekt vars mål är att producera en applikationsom ska integreras i C4 Webbutveckling AB:s e-butikssystem. Användningsområdet för applikationen är att en kund ska kunna designa en produkt ur e-butiken med bild- eller texttryck. Applikationen kommer att utvecklas för Flashplattformen eftersom det var ett av kraven från uppdragsgivaren. Rent praktiskt så kommer applikationen fungera enligt följande: kunden väljer en produkt som den vill trycksätta och applikationen öppnas. Användaren kan nu välja vilket eller vilka tryck den vill ha ur en lista, när den sedan klickat på ett tryck kan användaren dra runt trycket och placera det där den önskar på produkten. När användaren är klar så klickar den på ”gå vidare” och den skickas vidare ur applikationen och tillbaka in i butiken. I samband med att applikationen stängs så skapas en PDF-fil med bilder på de trycksatta produkterna och skickas upp till servern för att instruera leverantören om hur trycken ska placeras.

    PEPPHER, a three-year European FP7 project, addresses efficient utilization of hybrid (heterogeneous) computer systems consisting of multicore CPUs with GPU-type accelerators. This article outlines the PEPPHER performance-aware component model, performance prediction means, runtime system, and other aspects of the project. A larger example demonstrates performance portability with the PEPPHER approach across hybrid systems with one to four GPUs.

    Abstract [en]

    The European FP7 project PEPPHER is addressing programmability and performance portability for current and emerging heterogeneous many-core architectures. As its main idea, the project proposes a multi-level parallel execution model comprised of potentially parallelized components existing in variants suitable for different types of cores, memory configurations, input characteristics, optimization criteria, and couples this with dynamic and static resource and architecture aware scheduling mechanisms. Crucial to PEPPHER is that components can be made performance aware, allowing for more efficient dynamic and static scheduling on the concrete, available resources. The flexibility provided in the software model, combined with a customizable, heterogeneous, memory and topology aware run-time system is key to efficiently exploiting the resources of each concrete hardware configuration. The project takes a holistic approach, relying on existing paradigms, interfaces, and languages for the parallelization of components, and develops a prototype framework, a methodology for extending the framework, and guidelines for constructing performance portable software and systems – including paths to migration of existing software – for heterogeneous many-core processors. This paper gives a high-level project overview, and presents a specific example showing how the PEPPHER component variant model and resource-aware run-time system enable performance portability of a numerical kernel.

    Abstract [en]

    PEPPHER takes a pluralistic and parallelization agnostic approach to programmability and performance portability for heterogeneous many-core architectures. The PEPPHER framework is in principle language independent but focuses on supporting C++ code with PEPPHER-specific annotations as pragmas or external annotations. The framework is open and extensible; the PEPPHER methodology details how new architectures are incorporated. The PEPPHER methodology consists of rules for how to extend the framework for new architectures. This mainly concerns adaptivity and autotuning for algorithm libraries, the necessary hooks and extensions for the run-time system and any supporting algorithms and data structures that this relies on. Offloading is a specific technique for programming heterogeneous platforms that can sometimes be applied with high efficiency. Offload as developed by the PEPPHER partner Codeplay is a particular, nonintrusive C++ extension allowing portable C++ code to support diverse heterogeneous multicore architectures in a single code base.

    Abstract [en]

    Advances in technology continuously reshape habits, behaviours and interactions at individual, organisational and societal levels. Information and Communication technology (ICT) is pervasive, and is the bearer of crucial information, analysis and responses to the recipient. It assists in processes such as understanding phenomena and taking appropriate action. It also provides communication means, platforms and tools to interact with one another.

    In the United Kingdom’s (UK) Energy industry, smart meters are currently being deployed by energy suppliers to their customers. These are presented as a revolutionary device that supports a more efficient energy use at home and/or in the workplace, and helps customers save on their energy bill and reduce carbon footprint.

    Using interpretivist phenomenological Human-centred qualitative research, The thesis work explores the impact of using smart meter devices, as perceived by UK customers, in helping to monitor, use and manage energy consumption at home. Also, the study looks into alternative technology and customers’ expectations in the context of energy efficiency. And finally, the principles of a design is presented to respond to customers demands and desires. Passive participant observation, Future workshop and inspiration cards session are the methods and techniques applied in this research to collect  data.

    The findings constitute good grounds for individual consumers to be aware of the opportunities made available by alternative technology. At organisational level it is a basis for energy suppliers to change their behaviour towards a changing demand and adapt by switching their core business to supplying Information and analysis as well as energy efficiency management solutions. At societal level government bodies and regulating agencies can tackle sustainability and green energy issues by controlling the profit driven character of privatised energy companies and responding to real market demand as perceived by consumers.

    Emerging technologies present opportunities that have the capabilities of breaking the status quo of energy supply industry in the UK as well as the rest of world.

    The value of this research is to show customers’ perceived reality and expectations, as well as opportunities to change the way energy is supplied and consumed.

    Abstract [en]

    The market of smart mobile devices is getting bigger and bigger and it can be a great way to reach out with your service or product to the crowed by deploying a mobile application. The installable applications on the mobile devices that uses device-specific functions is called native applications, and are tied to one platform. They can therefore only be used by those devices that make use of that platform. The two largest platforms is iOS (used by mobile devices from Apple) and Android (used by a variety of devices including Samsung, LG and HTC). This means that if you want to reach out to multiple platforms you will have to create a separate application for each platform. It also requires the developer/developers to have the proper knowledge of the programming languages in which the platform is compatible to. This can be both time consuming and expensive, especially if you as a company is hiring developers to develop your app.

    The purpose of this study is to determine whether the open source library known as Phonegap can be used to develop a mobile application that ultimately can be distributed and installed on multiple mobile platforms, this by using Web technologies such as CSS, HTML and JavaScript.

    During this study a mobile application will be created and evaluated. Studies will be done on how to go about and if there is anything one might need to take in consideration when it comes to the variety of units with different properties and functions. Usability testing will also be performed to determine whether a near native performance can achieved with this technique.

    The results show that Phonegap is an excellent tool for access of device-specific functions and that you together with interface frameworks such as jQuery Mobile can reach out to most of the newer mobile devices available today. However, one would do well to analyze if the scope of the application requires an interface library, as those who are available may perform poorly on certain mobile operating system.

    Svenska kommuner står inför den komplexa och omfattande uppgiften att skapa grundläggande informationssäkerhet för förvaltningsverksamhet. Denna uppgift förutsätter ett ledningssystem för informationssäkerhet, en betydande del av ledningssystemet är att upplåta en informationssäkerhetspolicy. Policydokumentet bör enligt tidigare forskning hållas levande genom revidering för att säkra kvaliteten inom informationssäkerhetsarbetet. Syftet med denna studie är att studera hur svenska kommuner bedriver arbetet med att hålla informationssäkerhetspolicyn levande, dvs. revidera denna. Studien genomförs med en kvalitativ datainsamlingsmetod där tre personer med en ledande befattning inom informationssäkerhetsarbete i utvalda kommuner intervjuas. Undersökningen beskriver hur kommunerna i studien bedriver arbetet med att revidera informationssäkerhetspolicyn. Slutsatsen är att svenska kommuner reviderar informationssäkerhetspolicyn, men inte på ett sådant sätt att policyn kan betraktas som ett levande styrdokument.

    Den militära underrättelsetjänsten i Sverige är i behov av att kunna hantera och analysera stora mängder information. Totalförsvarets forskningsinstitut (FOI) arbetar med utveckling av verktyget Impactorium som är ett stöd för hantering och analys av lägesinformation och fungerar som hjälp för beslutsfattande. Det här arbetet behandlar en gränssnittsutvärdering av Impactorium med syftet är att finna användbarhetsproblem som FOI kan åtgärda, samt att undersöka om det går att skapa en användbar design utan att blanda in den tänkta målgruppen i designprocessen. I studien ingick en heuristisk utvärdering av en användbarhetsexpert och ett användbarhetstest med försökspersoner som inte tillhör gruppen slutanvändare. Användbarhetsproblem som upptäcktes validerades sedan i en fokusgrupp bestående av experter med domänkunskap inom området underrättelse, som bedömde om problemen kan anses vara samma som riktiga användare kommer drabbas av.

    Studien visade att flertalet av problemen som upptäcktes av personer utanför målgruppen var riktiga problem riktade mot användbarhet. 40 av 64 problem klassades som allvarliga problem som behöver åtgärdas. Endast två av de 64 klassades inte alls som problem. Det finns stor risk att användarnyttan inte är genomtänkt och att det behövs en djupare förståelse för slutanvändarna om Impactorium skall bli användbart. Hur slutanvändaren vill arbeta och vilken funktionalitet han har behov av bör inte basras på antaganden.

    En kvalitetsförbättrande metod som senaste åren blivit vanlig inom Hälso- och sjukvård är Lean Healthcare - en verksamhetsfilosof som går ut på att eliminera slöseri och skapa värde för patienterna. I takt med att informationssystem och informationsteknik (IT) har utvecklats har informationsförsörjning fått en allt viktigare roll i vårdprocessen. Tidigare undersökningar visar dock att vårdpersonalen upplever att det finns många brister kopplade till informationssystem och IT. En explorativ fallstudie genomfördes där kvalitativ data samlades in med hjälp av intervjuer, dokumentstudier samt observation. Syftet var att beskriva hur informationsförsörjningen påverkats i ett kliniskt mikrosystem och i en vårdprocess som infört Lean. Resultatet visar att mikrosystemets leaninförande har fått positiva resultat inom framgångsgrupperna patienter, personal, resultat/processer/flöden och ledarskap. Däremot har information och IT haft mycket litet betydelse i förbättringsarbetet. Mikrosystemets informationsmiljö har dock förändrats, den visuella informationen har blivit mycket viktig och den analoga mer allmänna informationen har påverkats positivt.  Trots mängden analog och visuell information är det inom digitala informationssystem och dokumentation som mikrosystemet upplever att det förekommer mest slöseri. När det gäller analog information känner vårdpersonalen att de kan eliminera slöseri med hjälp av leanprinciper och metoder, exempelvis 5S. Däremot anser de inte att de har möjlighet att påverka den digitala informationen i samma utsträckning och för vårdpersonalen faller sig inte förbättring av informationsflöden lika naturligt som att förbättra patientnära aktiviteter i vårdprocessen.

    Abstract [en]

    The study was intended to investigate the impact users have on system innovation in a system development project. As user involvement is done daily through (among others) user tests, it was interesting to investigate how user’s feedback and ideas affect innovation in a system development project. Companies today face great challenges of getting the user to believe in the change that is made in a system. What can be seen as a problem is that users aren’t always ready for the change that innovation entails. To investigate how users affect innovation in a system development projects, interviews have been conducted with people who have knowledge and experience of user involvement. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model will be used to highlight the elements that affect users’ attitudes towards changes. The material that has been collected has been analyzed and discussed in order to answer the problem. Users affect system innovation by expressing negativity or skepticism against changes. The reason may be that users aren’t ready for the change that a company wants to implement. This can lead to the impediment of innovation in a system development project. An important aspect to include is the company’s domain expertise. If the company believes that the change should be implemented to be innovative, it’s important to communicate with the users and make them understand why the change occurs. An individual user can influence a system’s innovation if the company allows it, while a number of users can affect to a greater extent if they experience the same problem with an innovative change.

    Rapporten beskriver arbetet och resultaten av en prestandajämförelse mellan Teredo och 6to4, som används för att tunnla IPv6-trafik över publika IPv4-nätverk. Detta gjordes då ingen tidigare forskning hittats som jämför dessa tekniker ur prestandasynpunkt. Tre separata testmiljöer, en vardera för Teredo, 6to4 och 6to4 bakom NAT, sattes upp i en labbmiljö. I varje testmiljö skickades genererad trafik i åtta omgångar mellan två klienter, som samlade in testdata. Insamlad testdata bearbetades med formler för Throughput, End to End Delay, Round Trip Time och Jitter och ett medelresultat för varje räknades ut. Medelresultaten ställdes mot varandra i tabeller och grafer för överskådlig presentation och analys. Resultaten för End to End Delay ströks från prestandajämförelsen på grund av låg tillförlitlighet. Slutsatsen var att 6to4 presterade bättre än 6to4 bakom NAT vad gäller Throughput, Round Trip Time och Jitter i de tester som utförts. Orsaken till detta var den extra fördröjning som NAT gav när paket skickades och togs emot i testmiljön för 6to4 bakom NAT. På grund av skillnader i testmiljön hade resultaten för Teredo inte den tillförlitlighet som krävdes för att dra någon slutsats om teknikens prestanda gentemot 6to4 eller 6to4 bakom NAT.

    Avsikten med detta arbete har varit att undersöka huruvida någon prestandaskillnad föreligger mellan nätverksnodernas vidarebefordring av prioriterad trafik i en nätverksmiljö med Quality of service-funktioner (QoS) implementerade och nätverksnodernas arbete i samma nätverksmiljö med separata, virtuella nätverk uppsatta med hjälp av Virtual routing and forwarding (VRF). Målet var att resultatet ska ha möjlighet att väga in när för- och nackdelar mellan olika sätt att separera nätverkstrafik jämförs ur prestandasynpunkt. Rapporten beskriver arbetet med samt resultatet av ett empiriskt experiment som kontrollerade VRF:ers påverkan på QoS-funktioner. Ett fysiskt nätverk sattes upp för att kontrollera hur QoS påverkades av logisk separering av experimentmiljöns nätverk på lager tre med hjälp av VRF. I detta nätverk utfördes även ett kontrollexperiment utan logisk separation för att skapa en baseline samt ett experiment där separering utfördes med hjälp av accesslistor. För varje experimentfas skickades en videoström genom experimentmiljön för att mäta End to end delay, Packet loss och Jitter, samt webbside requests för att upp mäta Round trip time. Detta testförfarande utfördes tre gånger per experimentfas.

     

    I experimenten kunde ingen Packet loss uppmätas vilket tyder på att QoS fungerade som avsett, även med VRF. Vissa förändringar för nätverksnoderna behövde genomföras beroende på teknik, vilket gjorde att det blev svårt att dra en slutsats av resultaten för End to end delay, Jitter och Round trip time.

    Abstract [en]

    In this project we examine the possibility to create a machine activity sensor by

    a one-chip computer that measures a machines vibrations through an

    accelerometer. The sensor shall generate a status signal. The accelerometer is

    used to give a measurable signal of a machines vibrations. The one-chip

    computer is used to sampel, transform and analyze this signal and generate a

    status signal. With LabView we can save, study and analyze different signals

    and their different transforms. By studying machine vibrations in LabView we

    decide that sampling at 5 kHz is sufficient. By comparing different

    transformations in regards to performance and calculation needs we choose

    Fast Fourier Transform as analyzing tool. We calculate that a ARM

    SAM7S256 can manage the task and implement an interrupt based sampling,

    frequency analysis and decision making routine which results in a status signal.

    Abstract [en]

    The survey has been conducted about how older adults use digital services on the Internet,

    what their thoughts are about them and the problems that can arise during use. The

    purpose of the survey is to treat the qualitative data to see what factors affect older adults

    to use various digital services to operate in society. This purpose has arisen from the

    problem which older adults are the smallest but fastest growing user group to take

    advantage of digital opportunities, today's society more or less requires that you have

    some sort of digital knowledge to be able to benefit from its services. Based on the

    objective, we have formulated our research question "Older adults are the fastest growing

    group of digital users, but in total still the lowest represented user group. What contributes

    to the rapid rise and what can we learn from the users of today on how to develop digital

    services for this age group in the future?" We chose to write about this project because we

    think that the subject is relevant and interesting to explore. Since one can see the obvious

    problems regarding this in everyday life, we chose to more deeply explore the area to give

    us a broader view. We have used qualitative methods like observations and semistructured

    interviews, these have been applied from prior knowledge of how to perform

    these methods to enable a good data collection. We have also created our own modified

    model based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Unified Theory of

    Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) used to measure technology acceptance.

    The modified model is applied to the information we developed from them qualitative

    methods. The results from four informants indicate that there are critical factors that

    influence the use of digital services such as experience and needs, but these factors are

    individual and varies from person to person resulting in that there is not a single answer to

    the question but must be answered for each individual service.

    The aim of this work is to evaluate the shape of a free form object using single shot digital holography. The digital holography results in a gradient field and wrapped phase maps representing the shape of the object. The task is then to find a surface representation from this data which is an inverse problem. To solve this inverse problem we are using regularization with additional shape information from the CAD-model of the measured object.

    Abstract [en]

    Internal dissemination of information is the primary resource for a functional organization. Transformation and dissemination of information is performed through communication where information progress between individuals and systems. Individuals knowledge are described as individuals that will interpret identical information variously, which results into information loss.

     

    A qualitative case study has been conducted with the perspective of exploring the interior horizontal information dissemination in order to create an understanding of how these informations perceived and applied in organizations.

    This study is focused on horizontal dissemination through SharePoint and e-mail and is expected to create understandning if the information that may result the work related effects.

     

    Since this study is restricted to the receivers and how they perceive and apply information, the empirical study represents that SharePoint is a valuable source of information and that it is perceived to be efficient compared with e-mail. Dissemination of information through email are used extensively and abundant of these materials are published daily at SharePoint, which results in loss of information.

    Transmission Model was primary used in order to get an understanding for how information transfers from a transmitter to a reciver. Sense Making Theory was applied as a supplement to the Transmission model to increase an perceptive of how the receiver perceives the transferred data. Information Systems Success Model based to obtain a perspective and an understanding for how a message is delivered by an electronic channel beyond and if the information was applied after it was received by the recipient.

    Abstract [en]

    Software performance engineering is a mature field that offers methods to assess system performance. Process mining is a promising research field applied to gain insight on system processes. The interplay of these two fields opens promising applications in the industry. In this work, we report our experience applying a methodology, based on process mining techniques, for the performance assessment of a commercial data-intensive software application. The methodology has successfully assessed the scalability of future versions of this system. Moreover, it has identified bottlenecks components and replication needs for fulfilling business rules. The system, an integrated port operations management system, has been developed by Prodevelop, a medium-sized software enterprise with high expertise in geospatial technologies. The performance assessment has been carried out by a team composed by practitioners and researchers. Finally, the paper offers a deep discussion on the lessons learned during the experience, that will be useful for practitioners to adopt the methodology and for researcher to find new routes.

    Abstract [en]

    Today, an increasing number of companies’ uses agile system development which means that the development work is done in short iterations. Short iterations means that there is much to be done in a short time both in development and testing. To keep up with the testing it is required to use automated testing. Automated tests are a type of automation that in itself is a problematic area because people fail to rely on automation. If people have a lack of trust in automated testing it will cause them to still use manual testing, which will make the value of automating tests fail.

    The purpose of this paper is to respond to how people ́s trust in automated testing is affected based on knowledge of automated testing, trust in the person creating automated tests and feedback from automated testing. A qualitative study and interviews have been conducted to answer the question. The survey has been conducted on a research company that delivers finance software and internet solutions to companies and accountancy firms.

    The result of the empirical survey shows that knowledge of automated testing, trust in the person who creates automated testing and feedback from the automated tests are aspects that affect people's trust in automated testing.

    Lack of knowledge affects people ́s trust in automated testing in a way that leads to that people either create an overtrust or mistrust to the automated tests. People that have knowledge of automated tests feels trust in the tests. To have trust in the person that creates automated tests affects people's trust in that way that people feel more trust in automated testing if they know who the person is, feel the confidence to the person and his or her knowledge. Feedback from automated testing affects people's trust when no-feedback is taking place. This leads to that they do not know which tests there is and what they do. This means that people do not trust them.

    Syftet med det här arbetet är att med hjälp av molntjänsten Google App Engine, programspråket Python och ramverket Django utveckla en mer komplett tjänst.

    Arbetet resulterade i grunden till en tjänst samt en rad positiva och negativa slutsatser gällande valet av teknik.

    The world has become more digital and people have become more dependent on that technology always is accessible. Businesses are using technology to perform tasks more efficient and less costly. For information systems to facilitate the user, the systems must be useful. To achieve usability, design principles have been created. These principles are guidelines or directives to achieve a good design. When problems arise for a user, these users often must get in touch with knowledgeable IT-staff. The contact between user and IT-staff usually occurs via case management systems.

    The purpose of the study was to identify design principles that from the user's perspective are the most important for a case management system to achieve usability. The study was limited to examining Nielsen's ten heuristic design principles.

    The study was based on a deductive approach with a qualitative data collection method. Interviews were conducted on a case business to collect the views of users of a case management system. Width and variation was the method used for the selection of informants as it was of interest that the informants had different previous knowledge. The purpose of the empirical data was to identify important characteristics to achieve usability for a case management system. With this information, it was then possible to examine how well the design principles achieve these characteristics. The study also examined the users’ opinions about specific design principles, which also contributed to the results.

    The result of the study included four characteristics which the users felt should be met to achieve usability. Findability, navigability, information structure and simplicity are the characteristics users thought should be met to achieve usability. Furthermore, when design principles were evaluated, four principles emerged that users considered to be the most important, link between system and reality, flexibility and efficiency of usage, user control and freedom, compliance and standard, and to recognize themselves rather than remembering. These principles were those who were considered to answer the usability characteristics best.

    Internet-of-Things (IoT) is an emergent paradigm that is increasingly applied in smart cities. A popular technology used in IoT is LoRa that supports long-range wireless communication. In this research, we study LoRa-based IoT systems with battery-powered end nodes that collect and communicate data to a gateway for further processing. Existing approaches in such IoT systems usually only consider stationary end nodes. We focus on systems with mobile end nodes, paving the way to new applications such as target tracking. Key Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for these settings are the reliability of the communication and energy consumption. With mobile end nodes, ensuring these QoS is challenging as the system is subject to continuous changes. In this paper, we investigate how the settings of a mobile end node impact key performance indicators for reliability and energy consumption. Based on insights obtained from extensive field experiments, we devise an algorithm that automatically adapts the settings of a mobile end node to ensure its QoS requirements for a setup with a single gateway. We then extend the algorithm to a setup with multiple gateways. We demonstrate how the algorithms achieve the QoS requirements of a mobile end node in a concrete IoT deployment.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study is to compare the cause of the, to date, three onlycommercial nuclear power plant accidents. These are very complex incidents,which have dire impact on society and the environment and therefore benefitfrom further investigation, if there lays a possibility of identifying factors thatcould prevent further accidents in the future. In order to investigate this theactions and decisions that lead up to each nuclear meltdown was identified andcompared.The investigation was based on a qualitative study on three cases of nuclearmeltdown accidents. They are based on text analysis of official reports anddocumentaries on the subject. The theoretical background for this study wasKajtazi’s (2011) work on Information Inadequacy. The study was limited to theevents leading up to the accidents and do not include activities afterwards.The study shows that each case had different underlying reasons. It alsoshows that we seem to have learned something from our previous mistakes, andacted on them accordingly. From the Fukushima Daiichi accident we canrecommend that organizations in charge should take early warnings seriouslyand act upon them as soon as they are presented.

    De allra flesta av oss kommer ständigt i kontakt med olika dataflöden vilket har blivit en helt naturlig del av vårt nutida informationssamhälle. Dagens företag agerar i en ständigt föränderlig omvärld, och hantering av data och information har blivit en allt viktigare konkurrensfaktor. Detta i takt med att den totala datamängden i den digitala världen har ökat kraftigt de senaste åren. En benämning för gigantiska datamängder är Big Data, som har blivit ett populärt begrepp inom IT-branschen. Big Data kommer med helt nya analysmöjligheter, men det har visat sig att många företag är oroliga för hur de ska hantera och ta tillvara på de växande datamängderna. Syftet med denna studie har varit att ge ett kunskapsbidrag till det relativt outforskade Big Data området, detta utifrån en induktiv ansats med utgångspunkten ur intervjuer. Den problematik som kommit med Big Data beskrivs oftast ur tre perspektiv; där data förekommer i stora volymer, med varierande data-typer och källor, samt att data genereras med olika hastighet. Det framgick av studiens resultat att Big Data som begrepp berör många olika områden och det kan variera väldigt mycket mellan företag inom olika branscher vad gäller betydelse, förmåga, ambition och omfattning. De traditionella teknologierna för datalagring och utvinning är inte tillräckliga för att hantera data som benämns som Big Data. I samband med att ny teknologi tagits fram och äldre lösningar uppgraderats, har detta dock lett till att det nu går att se informationshantering och analysarbete i helt nya perspektiv.

    Eftersom Big Data huvudsakligen har samma syfte som området Business Intelligence, kan dessa lösningar lämpligen integreras. En mycket stor utmaning med Big Data är att det inte är möjligt att exakt veta vad som kommer att uppnås med datainsamling och analys. Efter att data har samlats in bör ett business case tas fram med riktlinjer för vad som ska uppnås. Det finns en stor potential i denna uppgående marknad som, trots allt, är relativt omogen. Informationshantering kommer att bli allt viktigare framöver och för företagen handlar det om att hänga med i snabba utvecklingen och skaffa sig en bra förståelse för nya trender i IT-världen.

    Knowledge has become one of the most important assets for companies nowadays. Knowledge Management (KM) uses organizational knowledge as a resource to make companies more competitive. Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) are gaining popularity, however, the failure rate remains high, with many projects not achieving their goals or being shut down early. KMS are often underestimated and treated as normal systems. IS practices do not cover certain aspects specific to KMS, aspects that do not show in other IS (e.g. socio-cultural issues). There are many studies concerning the KMS failures but they just focus on the symptoms and do not provide a solution to the problem. The goal of this master’s dissertation is to generate a preventive tool that will help the KM field. With The experience gained by working in a real KMS project within a textile agency in Sweden and relevant literature, an Information Systems Design Theory (ISDT) for KMS was developed. As some authors suggest, KM needs an ISDT of it’s own. An ISDT will guide practitioners through the process by restricting practices and features of the system to a more effective set. It will also encourage the academia to work on this theory for its improvement, completion, and validation

    Library resource discovery tools (RDTs) are the latest generation of library catalogs that enable searching across disparate databases and repositories from a single search box. Although such “Google-like” experience has been applauded as a benefit for library users, there still exist usability and accessibility problems related to the diversity of user goals, needs, and preferences. To better understand these problems, we conducted an extensive literature review and in this process, we initially grouped issues into three categories: interface, resource description, and navigation. Based on these categories, we propose adaptation as an alternative approach to enhance the usability and accessibility of RDTs. The adaptations could be conducted on three levels pertaining to categories of issues found, namely: interface, information, and navigation level. The goal of this paper is to suggest how the process of adaptation could be considered in order to mitigate usability and accessibility issues of RDT interfaces.

    Wind power industry has become the world’s fastest growing renewable energy source. A firm’s information requirements can only be understood by examining their Information System (IS) through Organizational, People, Technical and Strategic perspective.  Current study focuses on the value of Information System implementation for Swedish Wind Power Industry (SWPI) that has reached to more than one billion dollars in recent decade. A well-known integrated IS i.e. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) used by Swedish Wind Power Industry (SWPI) for decision making activities is not without its challenges, that consumes a significant portion of their capital and resources for implementation. Exploratory and explanatory research conducted for triangulation, through quantitative and qualitative methods, with empirical data of survey, multiple case studies, interviews and extensive literature review, to highlight the problems and solutions for implementing ERP in SWPI. Several, IS are highlighted with their functionalities and critical success and failure factors. A Model of Knowledge Sharing in ERP Implementation between system users, top management and project team is proposed for critical factors of ERP implementation.

    Change is a natural state for both people and institutions, but as the surrounding world moves faster it becomes important to quickly be able to adjust to new conditions. Customers’ force of negotiation increases as the global competition grows. One factor that becomes more vital to customers is the amount of quality standard a company can offer them. Several factors are essential if a work of change will be considered a successful investment, where the change can be perceived in both a positive and negative way for an employee. Many organizations have attempted a mayor structural change and failed.

    Overhead Conveyor Systems (OCS) is a company that develops and installs internal transport systems in Borås. They develop a Quality Management System in line with the international standard of ISO 9001:2000. The question is how the management at OCS will accomplish a work of change with consideration to the employee’s demands and at the same time fulfills the standard requirements. The objectives of this report are to investigate the user demands of a Quality Management System in a defined case as well as indicate important factors for a successful work of change.

    A qualitative approach has been used with a deductive research perspective. Different theoretical aspects have been used, which together with the standard requirements of ISO constituted the foundation for the paper. This was followed by an empirical investigation, where the primary information came from a small amount of employees at OCS, who where selected and interviewed.

    In the description of the present situation the results of the interviews are presented. The employees described how certain activities are performed at the current time. They expressed their demands and what they feel is lacking. The answers from the interviews where compared to questionnaires from a previous organization analysis, in order to understand the importance of the mentioned demands. The results show that a number of the demands made in the previous questionnaire are still valid today.

    In the analysis the results where compared to aforementioned theoretical aspects and the standard requirements. The analysis shows distinct demands in all areas of the standard requirement. Furthermore the respondents request more participation during the process of change, which will generate a higher extent of motivation and engagement. The conclusion illustrates that the crucial factors to a successful work of change, from an employee’s perspective, are participation, access to information, dialogue between the parties concerned and leadership.

    Location-based services (LBS) contains of services helping users of finding positions of themselves or other objects. LBS applications can present information in varies types of ways, these could be threw speech, text, geographic symbols, photos etc. Not many studies have been done to examine the aspects of LBS communication and there is a demand for user and context centered mapping.

    The purpose of this report is to present a model for the development of user and context based services. The model will give guide lines of recommendations when implementing LBS. The different technologies that support LBS will also be noticed. I will also discuss if LBS can be supported of privacy. This thesis will include discussions on laws when dealing with LBS. Complications of implementing the technique will be addressed.

    For this study I will use Järvinens (2004) methodology guidelines from the book “On research methods”.

    In the conclusion you can read distinguish guide lines that I have set up for development of LBS. To answer the problem formulation stated earlier I have made a division of three aspects that define usage of LBS: Standardization, usability and privacy.

    Background: With Web service growing popularity more and more companies chose to apply Web service in their organisation. With the rising usage of the concept the demands rise with it. For companies that deal with vulnerable information for example hospitals, there needs to be strong security measures taken.

    Purpose: The aim of the report is to examine different security functions that can help developers to secure Web service applications. The report will be written so that organisations such as health care organisation can get insight on how to use a secure Web services in their line of work.

    Method: One of the main methods used in this report is a qualitative hermeneutic way of thinking. The research process will apply Wallace’s model. The theoretical study is achieved with research on the subject through literature studies and published articles. Interviews that are used to gain knowledge are structured as quality orientated science surveys with semistandardised questions.

    Conclusions: We believe the time has come for hospitals to investigate if Web service can help their organization. In case they choose to use Web services, we advise them to follow Web service Security’s recommendations to produce a web service that is adapted to their security needs.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study came about during ongoing discussions with a newly started company that plans to launch an application focused on fitness and health. The application must be accessible to a broad user group, this include users with some kind of disability. A large percentage of the population and a potentially large percentage of the company ́s prospective users have some kind of disability that can complicate use of the service, impaired vision is the most common kind of disability today. This study is based on the need to develop a concise and effective evaluation model intended to evaluate usability and to detect any possible problems that exist for users with visual impairments when using mobile services. Qualitative data has been collected from user testing and subsequent interviews. All test participants have a mild alternatively moderate visual impairment, the usability expert who carried out the heuristic evaluation is not visually impaired. The presented usability model has been tested and analyzed by posing as the basis for the heuristic evaluation, results found in this stage are then compared with results obtained from user testing in order to determine whether satisfactory results are met. The model shows satisfactory results based on obtained data, problems detected during the heuristic evaluation corresponds in a consistent manner with problems that emerged during user testing. The study indicates that there is a lack of specific and easy to use usability models for the evaluation of mobile services with a focus on visually impaired users. Such a model can preferably be used in order to increase usability and provide a more accessible service. Existing usability frameworks are often extensive and targeted at a broad user group. They can be supplemented with a time and cost efficient usability model directed at evaluating accessibility for a specific user group. The presented model is based on the principles of Universal Design which will hopefully contribute to a greater usability for the general user as well. In addition to improved usability a potentially great economic profit can be made by developing a more accessible service that can be used by more users. The study is based on proven methods and has support in existing theory which contributes to a higher quality assurance, however, the narrow scope of the study contributes to the necessity of further testing.
