    Abstract [sv]

    En anledning till att många elever upplever bråkräkning som svårt kan vara att räkning med tal i bråkform inte förekommer i vardagslivet lika ofta som förr. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka om det fanns några eventuella brister hos elever, som går första året på gymnasiet, när de räknade med tal i bråkform. Kan grundskolan i så fall göra något för att motverka detta? Vi ville samtidigt studera hur eleverna förklarade och motiverade sina tankegångar.

    För att ta reda på detta genomförde vi en diagnos med tal i bråkform och till svaren skulle eleverna skriva motiveringar och beräkningar. Vi skickade även en enkät till de gymnasielärare som undervisar eleverna för att få deras syn på resultatet.

    Resultatet visar att många elever saknar tillräckliga baskunskaper för att klara bråkräkning, vilket också lärarnas enkätundersökning signalerar. I många fall handlar det om brister i grundläggande färdigheter, något som grundskolan borde kunna avhjälpa. Eleverna har även svårt att förklara sina beräkningar och motivera sina svar. Resultatet visar också på stor variation mellan olika program. Elever med betyg G i matematik från grundskolan och som valt ett yrkesförberedande program hade störst bekymmer medan elever med betyg VG och MVG och som valt ett studieförberedande program klarade diagnosen bättre.

    Abstract [en]

    E-mails are something that most of us use. How we use it is different from one person to another. We have identified several different ways of usage, for example sending text, attach a file or send a funny picture. In this report different ways of using compression to decrease the volume of an e-mail and also the time it takes to deliver it is being studied. Caslon Analythics predict that 2005 around 236 billion e-mails will be sent. A reduction of messages sizes will have a positive effect on the network load. A plugin that uses Qualcomm Eudora have been created to show what can be done to reduce size and time. It uses a compression library called zlib and Eudora API for plugins. With the plugin and some tests it is shown that it can decrease the amount of storage needed by up to 70 percent when text and/or uncompressed files are attached. Large gain can therefore be made in both time and space.

    Att förstå och ha kunskap om hur man löser olika slags problem är något vi alla behöver. I det samhälle vi lever i idag är det en av förutsättningarna för att inte bli lurad och för att kunna följa med i demokratiska processer. När förmågan till logiskt och strategiskt tänkande stärks, höjer det förmågan att dra slutsatser och att analysera. I den kommande gymnasieförordningen, GY–07, kommer fem matematiska förmågor att bedömas vid betygssättning. En av dessa är problem och modellering. Med detta som bakgrund blev syftet med arbetet att undersöka hur lärare använder sig av problemlösning samt i hur stor utsträckning det arbetas med problemlösning som en del av matematikundervisningen. Dessutom ville vi ta reda på vad eleverna anser om problemlösning inom matematiken. I undersökningen har vi genomfört en enkätstudie på både grundskoleelever och gymnasieelever. Vi har dessutom intervjuat lärare i hur de använder problemlösning som en del av undervisningen.

    Undersökningen har visat att lärare idag använder sig av problemlösningsövningar några gånger per termin. Dessa uppgifter finner lärarna främst i olika böcker eller så skapar de egna uppgifter, men även från Internet finner lärarna lämpliga uppgifter. Uppgifterna löses framförallt i grupp och redovisas även så muntligen eller skriftligen. Fördelarna som lärare och elever ser med problemlösningsövningar är främst att man lär sig tänka logiskt och att tänka på ett annorlunda vis. Den största nackdelen med problemlösning, anser både lärare och elever, är att det är alltför tidskrävande. Dessutom har vi kommit fram till att lärare och elever sinsemellan inte uppfattar problemlösning om samma sak.

    Abstract [en]

    Nowadays, business intelligence techniques are applied more and more often in different settings including corporations and organizations both in the private and public sector. It is really a broad field which can assist business people to realize the state of their organization and make profitable decisions.

    In this thesis, I will focus on one of its components, data warehouse, by proposing activity theory as the method to solve the dimension identification problem in data warehouse. Under the background of project IMIS and the involved personnel, who determine the dimension, firstly I study how to use the ER method, “bottom up” method, and activity theory method to identify the dimension in data warehouse, and some relevant knowledge about the three methods. Then, we apply the three methods to identify the dimension. After that, I evaluate the dimension identification results of the three methods according to the feedback from the healthcare organization to get their veracity and integrality. Finally, based on the results of my efforts, I arrive to the conclusion that the activity theory method can be applied to identify the dimension in data warehouse, and with the comparison to the other two traditional methods (ER model and “bottom up”), the activity theory method is more easy and natural to identify the dimension of a dimensional model.

    ”We are living in a time of project. Everything becomes project. All development, all efficient,

    all changes are running as project”. (Wenell, 2001).

    To succeed with a project it is very important that the communication- and information

    flow is working in the project. In Ericsson´s project model PROPS and Wenell´s project

    model there is a communication plan as a part in the model. This communication plan is

    guidelines how to handle the communication and information in the project, and also who

    are in charge of that the project members stick to the plan.

    The most important factors to succeed with the communications- and information’s flow

    in a project are the communication plan. There are also other factors that are very important

    to think about. Some factors to mention are the individual and the teamwork, the leadership

    and how we understand information. To get a well functioned communication- and

    information flow in the project it is very important to see the over all picture, that all the

    factors have to function.

    fer enormous advantages for software development. Worldwide, industry and scholars are

    trying to remove the obstacles obstructing this course of action. This report names some

    of the problems that software integrators and developers face. It concentrates on low-level

    communication and other aspects of integration problems. it is based upon practical and

    theoretical research. the conclusion of the report is that while each problem can be solved

    in and of itself, these solutions often lead to the creation of new problems, and therefore

    leave ample room for further research.

    In todays sociaty the use of information systems is wide spread and many corporations and buisnesses both in large and small spread make use of more advanced and sopisticated systems. Larger corporations have their own IT sections that maintain and updates their systems on a daily basis. They have the money and resources for it by how do the small businesses coop with it. How satisfied are the small businesses that are maybe runing on systems that might not be supplying the needs that the business is in need of. In this paper we investigate this question in the form of a questionnaire. The investigation is conducted in a selected part of the market in the swedish city of Växjö. The purpose of the investigation is to see how satisfied 30 businesses are with their information systems. The investigations background comes from a similar american investigation and it’s the papers purpose to compare the results that arose during the american studie with the swedish results to see what diffrences and similaritys there is. The investigation spans over 3 sector of bueisnesses, trade, service and consult. The investigation studies how these 3 sectors satisfaction relates to one and other, how satisfied and disatisfiedthey are in different parts of their IT systems.

    I detta examensarbete var vårt syfte att synliggöra vilka matematiska strategier som framkommer vid praktisk problemlösning när det gäller barn i 6 årsåldern. Vi ville även undersöka hur barnen använder det de ritar som ett stöd för att lösa problemen. I undersökning observerades sammanlagt 10 barn i förskoleklasser från två olika enheter i Ljungby kommun. Det vi har genomfört är en fallstudie med en kvalitativ undersökningsmetod, då vi var intresserade av vilka strategier barnen använde vid problemlösningar, både med öppna frågor och frågor med givet svar. Arbetet visar att barnen använde sig av olika matematiska strategier som motsvarar vad litteraturen säger. De vanligaste strategierna var fingerräkning och huvudräkning. Det som skiljer mellan de två olika problemen var att i de öppna frågorna fick vi fler varierade svar. Det framkom också i undersökningen att barnen inte använde det de ritade som ett stöd för att lösa problemen.

    Abstract [en]

    Extreme Production Makeover™ caught our interest before we began to write our C-essay. The method is about transformation and how to make a production line more efficient in order to raise the productivity level within a short timeframe. Since we are about to gradu-ate in Information logistics, we are curious to find out if Extreme Production Makeover™ is transferable to administrative and service flows, from an information logistics perspec-tive.

    Within the area of production, there has been a long tradition to work with efficiency and improvements. Our studies of efficiency methods within administrative flows indicate that these methods are not as widespread within the service trades. How come?

    In general, the procedure of changing administrative and service flows is a long process, however, if an Extreme Production Makeover™ could be accomplished during a short timeframe, so could probably also Extreme Administration Makeover.

    Aim:

    The aim of our study is to examine and compare production flow efficiency along with ef-ficiency in administrative and service flows. We want to illustrate the benefit of using in-formation logistics in structural changes, for both companies and personnel working with process efficiency. The result of our study is an action plan for Extreme Administration Makeover.

    Method:

    Our essay was created as a proposal; we did not test or evaluate Extreme Administration Makeover in reality. We have studied a variety of literature linked to information logistics and the efficacy of different flows, which we have summarized and illustrate under the heading Theory. In order to support the theory further, we spoke to key personnel within Extreme Production Makeover™ and Lean Forum and determined how the methods could be compared and applied. The result of these discussions is presented in the Em-pirical research. Furthermore, we have added our knowledge about information logistics and created an action plan, with an attached model exclusively for Extreme Administration Makeover. Accordingly, the result presented in the Analysis is followed by a Conclusion.

    Delimitation:

    We have chosen to limit our essay to the methods of traditional production efficiency and Lean Production, although we are well aware that there are several other methods for change.

    Results:

    Parts of a transformation plan could be accomplished during a short, or minimally short timeframe, however, in order to establish a deeply rooted work process, particularly the underlying force, and to permeate this vision into the enterprise, almost certainly requires more time. The outcome depends on the individuals affected and involved in the process. By establishing deeply rooted thoughts, goals and visions throughout the organisation, a solid foundation generates a sound transformation, which is crucial for a positive outcome.

    Problem drafting: Is it possible to give the customer larger foundation for decision making of contemplated product by presenting more extensive and personal filtered information regarding the product, with the help of a personal RFID-reader?

    Methodology: In this bachelor thesis, we used constructive research to build the prototype in which we used a conceptual-analytic approach to gather the information to build it. Empirical studies were used for evaluation.

    Results: Our conclusion shows that even though it is possible to

    increase the basis on which the customers make decisions, through a RFID system, there are several issues that need to be addressed and taken into consideration before making it possible to implement such a system.

    Abstract [en]

    The main reason for this work is to find an appropriate way to include multi-word units in a latent semantic vector model. This would be of great use since these models normally are defined in terms of words, which makes it impossible to search for many types of multi-word units when the model is used in information retrieval tasks. The paper presents a Swedish evaluation set based on synonym tests and an evaluation of vector models trained with different corpora and parameter settings, including a rather naive way to add bi- and trigrams to the models. The best results in the evaluation is actually obtained with both bi- and trigrams added. Our hope is that the results in a forthcoming evaluation in the document retrieval context, which is an important application for these models, still will be at least as good with the bi- and trigrams are added, as without.

    Exploring Latent Semantic Vector Models Enriched With N-grams2006Doctoral thesis, monograph (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

    This thesis deals with a kind of vector space model called “Latent Semantic Vector Model”, or LSVM, calculated by the technique “Latent Semantic Indexing”. An LSVM can be used for many things, but I have mainly looked at one direct application: document retrieval. What we can gain from an LSVM is the possibility of searching for content rather than specific keywords. Using an LSVM in a document retrieval system has been shown to improve the quality of the returned document lists, which makes it easier for the user to find the information he or she wants. The problem attacked in this thesis is that an LSVM in the normal case contains just single words, while the terms one searches for in many cases are multi-word expressions.

    LSVMs have been trained with various parameter settings for training data, vocabulary, matrix size, context size, and last but not least, different ways to include multi-word expressions directly into the models. The aim has been to determine how the performance of an LSVM changes when we go from a word-based model to a model containing both words and multi-word expressions. To be able to measure the changes, two evaluation methods have been used: synonym tests and document retrieval. Synonym testing has been performed for Swedish and document retrieval for both Swedish and English. The results are improved when multi-word expressions are added for the synonym test task, but change for the worse for document retrieval. For English, the latter change is not significant.

    This work has also resulted in two new resources, well suited for evaluation of various models: the evaluation set SweHP560, containing 560 Swedish synonym test queries from “Högskoleprovet”, and the new metrics RankEff and WRS for document retrieval evaluation, which handle the problem of an incomplete gold standard in a better way than existing metrics like MAP and bpref.

    Den traditionella undervisningsmetoden i matematik ersätts idag med praktisk matematik. Eleverna får en mer aktiv och kunskapssökande roll.

    Elevers alltmer stillasittande livsstil leder till en ökad ohälsa. Skolverket rekommenderade 2003 att alla elever ska delta i någon form av fysisk aktivitet minst 30 minuter/dag.

    Mot denna bakgrund ställs frågorna: Vilka attityder har pedagoger till att undervisa i matematik utomhus? Varför, med vad och hur arbetar pedagoger utomhus? Genom en enkätundersökning och

    uppföljande intervjuer ges svaren, i den undersökta gruppen, att pedagoger gärna arbetar med matematik utomhus för att konkretisera men att stora elevgrupper och väder hindrar. Pedagogerna exemplifierar många moment lämpade för matematik utomhus samtidigt som de beskriver hur de gör.

    Kunderna i en webbshop kan ibland uppleva den sortens inköp som diffusa och osäkra. Osäkerheten beror på att man inte kan testa, känna eller se produkten i verkligheten. Produkterna i webbshopar presenteras ofta i 2D-format i form av ett foto och visas då i en vinkel. Genom att tillföra webbshopen nya egenskaper som att kunna undersöka varorna och titta på dem från olika håll, kan kundernas osäkerhet minskas.

    Valet av produkt föll i det här arbetet på möbler på grund av att de utgör en varugrupp som anses som svåra att handla via nätet.

    Frågeställningen har varit om 3D-format, i motsats till 2D-format, kan leda till att kunderna lättare kan avgöra ett inköpsbeslut i en webbshop genom att känslan för hur möblerna ser ut ökas? Uppfattningen om möblerna har i det här fallet ökats genom en interaktiv 3D-prototyp. Med hjälp av prototypen kan möblerna undersökas genom att vrida, förstora, öppna, stänga och ändra utföranden på dem. På detta sätt får kunderna ut mer information om möblernas utseende, storlek och funktion än från en traditionell webbshop i 2D. Prototypen, som är tänkt att användas i samband med en webbutik, skapades för att ett användartest skulle kunna utföras. Testet gick ut på att undersöka frågeställningen.

    Resultatet av undersökningen visar att drygt hälften av testdeltagarna ansåg att de fått så pass mycket information från prototypen, att de kunde avgöra om de ville köpa produkten eller inte. Resultatet visade även att det hade betydelse om man inte handlat via nätet förut. Det har lett till att man, trots upplevelsen av positiva egenskaper hos verktyget (i vissa fall), inte kände sig bekväm med den sortens inköp. Dessa personer kunde även urskilja färre egenskaper hos båda presentationerna än vad de vana Internethandlarna kunde. Största orsaken till de osäkra testdeltagarnas tvekan var att de ville se möblerna i verkligheten.

    Slutsatsen blev ändå att produktpresentation genom interaktiv 3D upplevs som mer intressant och underhållande än en 2D-presentation. Det konstaterades också att majoriteten var positiv till att möbler presenterades i 3D även om det inte var det mest ultimata sättet.

    Krutetskiis definition av vad han menade var matematisk förmåga. Dessa definitioner har vi brutit ner och tolkat så att de blev tillämpningsbara på barn i 9-10 årsåldern. Vi har observerat 12 elever, som har videofilmats och när vi analyserade materialet

    upptäckte vi flera av Krutetskiis förmågor. De slutsatser vi kunnat dra av undersökningen är, att barn har matematiska förmågor i olika grad. I diskussionen ger vi vår syn på vilken nytta vi har, som lärare, av att veta vilka förmågor barn har och hur

    de kommer till uttryck.

    Implementation of 3D Kiviat Diagrams2008Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

    In this thesis, a 3D approach to visualize software metrics is presented. Software metrics are attributes of a piece of software or its specification. They generally contain a set of multivariate time-series data and can be displayed, for example, as a Kiviat diagram consisting of axes and polylines. The aim of this work is to design a Win32 application that can load multivariate time-series data from a file and visualize it as an interactive 3D Kiviat diagram.

    There has been an approach that can display software metrics by using 2D Kiviat diagrams, but there are still some drawbacks on it. Since a better visualization of software metrics can help the developer to control the quality of software products more easily, this thesis improved the existing approach by extending 2D Kiviat diagram to 3D Kiviat diagram.

    Abstract [en]

    Experiments shows that the conductance of a quantum point contact is quantized in steps of  2e²/h, where e is the charge of the electron and h is Planck’s constant, and thereby Ohm’s law is not valid for nanostructures. By using the approximation method finite difference, the transmission for one-dimensional contacts and one- and two-dimensional potentials are investigated. In the case of two-dimensional contacts and a two-dimensional potential the Green’s function method is used. It turns out that if electrons are treated as waves, the transmission and the conductance just differ by the constant 2e²/h, which in this thesis is interpreted numerically in Matlab by using the Green’s function method.

    This report is exactly about that.

    The report has resulted in the Information Quality Model (IQM) and the Information Quality

    Process (IQP).

    IQM is a model for evaluation of information that explains which characteristics that affects the

    efficiency of information. IQM is built on Aspects - Characteristics – Questions.

    If we for example have right information and we can deliver to right place in right time but with a

    poor layout the efficiency still can be low. This leads to that we can state that all the stated aspects

    with its belonging characteristics must be paid attention to get a good quality in the in the

    interfaces.

    IQP Is a process showing how to handle and build up processes for collecting and processing

    of information with a method that will secure the quality.

    The method is built on an analyze phase where frames are created first for what should be collected

    and how it should be done and an executing phase where information is filled in, in accordance

    to to the rules that was set up in the analyze phase.

    IQM and IQP form a solution that together illuminates the whole process of the information delivery

    in a unique way.

    The research method is mainly based on cases built on the authors empirical experiences.

    Tiokamraterna och tiotalsövergången är en viktig del i matematikundervisningen. Syftet med vår undersökning är att ta reda på hur lärare arbetar för att eleverna ska befästa begreppen tiokamrater och tiotalsövergången. För att ta reda på detta har vi lämnat en enkät till verksamma pedagoger. Vi har även gjort en elevstudie av elever i skolår 2. Resultatet av våra undersökningar visar att när tiokamraterna är befästa och automatiserade hos eleven, blir matematiken lättare när det gäller större tal som medför tiotalsövergång. Laborativt arbetssätt där eleverna får uppleva matematik med sina sinnen underlättar lärandet. Detta förespråkas av de pedagoger som svarade på vår enkät och förstärks av tidigare forskning vi läst och refererat till i teoridelen.

    This report of 10 credits is a C – level essay in informatics.

    The report presents the result of our investigation. The purpose is to answer our problem statements:

    “How does computer-based graphical pedagogical tools work compared to traditional teaching aids? What is the users view upon the content? Is the information too hard or too easy? Does the structure work better than the traditional website design?”

    Infact is a system that has as its primary goal to present information in a pedagogical way to let users of all ages and sexes learn from the contents. The information shown on the web page www.forskning.se is about Swedish and international research and the sites primary target users are high school students.

    In our investigation we asked a total of sixteen students divided into three groups a number of questions where after we started a discussion that we hoped would yield some answers about Infact and the homepage in general.

    Our main conclusion is that Infact is a good tool to use side by side with the textbooks and the traditional teaching aids. The advantages of Infact are according to us the good navigation system that gives a good overview of an area of expertise. This kind of overview is hard to achieve with traditional textbooks. The animations and the text make it easy to learn and it also makes Infact to a specialized tool for teaching specific knowledge.

    Infact has some limitations. A short summary of these is that Infact must be used on a computer with a relatively fast Internet connection and certain programs must be installed before usage. We have also presented some suggestions for improving the system to the project team at www.forskning.se.

    Abstract [en]

    Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA), now known as Trusted Computing Group (TCG), is a trusted computing initiative created by IBM, Microsoft, HP, Compaq, Intel and several other smaller companies. Their goal is to create a secure trusted platform with help of new hardware and software. TCG have developed a new chip, the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that is the core of this initiative, which is attached to the motherboard. An analysis is made on the TCG’s specifications and a summary is written of the different parts and functionalities implemented by this group. Microsoft is in the development stage for an operating system that can make use of TCG’s TPM and other new hardware. This initiative of the operating system is called NGSCB (Next Generation Secure Computing Base) former known as Palladium. This implementation makes use of TCG’s main functionalities with a few additions. An analysis is made on Microsoft’s NGSCB specifications and a summary is written of how this operating system will work. NGSCB is expected in Microsoft’s next operating system Longhorn version 2 that will have its release no sooner than 2006. Intel has developed hardware needed for a trusted platform and has come up with a template on how operating system developers should implement their OS to make use of this hardware. TCG’s TPM are also a part of the system. This system is called LaGrande. An analysis is also made on this trusted computing initiative and a sum up of it is written. This initiative is very similar to NGSCB, but Microsoft and Intel are not willing to comment on that. DRM (Digital Rights Management) is a technology that protects digital content (audio, video, documents, e-books etc) with rights. A DRM system is a system that manages the rights connected to the content and provides security for those by encryption. First, Microsoft’s RMS (Rights Management System) that controls the rights of documents within a company is considered. Second, a general digital media DRM system is considered that handles e-commerce for digital content. Analysis and discussion are made on what effects TC (Trusted Computing) and DRM could result in for home users, companies and suppliers of TC hardware and software. The different questions stated in the problemformulation is also discussed and considered. There are good and bad effects for every group but if TC will work as stated today, then the pros will outweigh the cons. The same goes for DRM on a TC platform. Since the benefits outweights the drawbacks, we think that TC should be fullfilled and taken into production. TC and DRM provides a good base of security and it is then up to the developers to use this in a good and responsible way.

    Abstract [en]

    The report is written from the point of three different perspectives. Out of these perspec-tives I identify a number of risks based on the information I gather from four chosen busi-ness processes, witch are purchase, prepress/repro, planning, and production. The aim of the report is to identify the risks that are connected to the way the personnel are working within the four chosen processes today. By identifying the risks they later can be minimized and taken to consideration of the company. After changing and working with eliminating risks the processes will be armed for future threats and demands, mainly internal since fo-cus is placed on the four specific business processes.

    The information for this report is collected through interviews with process owners, gath-ering of internal documents in forms of descriptions and process overviews. The question at issue in the report is supported by theory that mainly is picked from course literature that is connected with the three visual angles. The conclusions are that Strålfors Svenska AB has a number of identified risks within the business processes. Furthermore, there are also risks identified between the processes. The collaboration between processes are not optimized and constitute a risk in it self. The main conclusion is that the personnel have not quit the old way of working and therefore have not adapted to more effective ways to handle information and optimized the everyday work. The general problems that I can ob-serve from the risks are the inconclusive way the collaboration work between the selected business processes. Furthermore, the old way of keeping the work journal in paper form is a problem since the information regarding orders will continue to increase and the amount of information will be to difficult to handle in the old way.

    Abstract [en]

    How do people used to computers handle small pieces of information? What happens when these people want to access the information on another location? One problem area is bookmark handling in browsers and another is electronic note handling. To be able to analyse the need for web based information structuring, five people were interviewed. The needs were then analysed and through iterations a list of specific needs were derived along with three conceptual plans as a support for further development. Parts of the conceptual plans were implemented as a wiki using the server based scripting language PHP as a base. The result was a suggestion for auxiliary means for people in collaborative learning environments in university education. Technologies that were examined were mainly the wiki technique using PHP, blogging, bookmarklets and JavaScript.

    Abstract [en]

    In this thesis we will identify which are the desired features and functionalities for implementing a system capable of acting as an information bridge for content available in the “wired” Internet to be delivered to mobile devices. We will also explore how to design and build such a system based on the specifications within parts of the MUSIS project. The MUSIS’ system development is used as a base of the work described in this thesis and the experiences from those efforts are used in order to design a system with more focus on data portability and media migration.

    During the development of the MUSIS platform, problems related to system upgrading, i.e. adding new ad-hoc functionalities were discovered. Due to the fact that a user-centred design approach was taken, this was essential in the project. To solve some of these issues, we propose a new component-based system with a high level of scalability and re-usability. We name this system Collect, Convert and Send, CCS. The system shall be seen as a base that can be used as a core system for different projects where interoperability of content between different platforms, devices or systems is important.

    The implementation of the system is based on the use cases and those theoretical aspects and ideas related to component software, interoperability, media migration and metadata in a Web service context. The results of our efforts give some indications that the use of component software gives a foundation for a service-oriented architecture.

    Uppgiften är att föreslå olika metoder på ett kollisionskydd som företaget Arcoma kan använda sig av. Skyddet skall i första hand kunna detektera en människa men om möjligt även döda föremål. Skyddet skall kunna sitta på Arcomas olika röntgenstativ och bord.

    Ett utvärderingskort från Freescale undersöktes först. Kortet skapar ett elektromagnetiskt fält mellan valda utgångar och frågan är om man kan detektera ifall detta fält bryts av något föremål.

    Eftersom utvecklingskortet inte fungerade bra riktades blickarna mot andra tänkbara lösningar. Den lösning som verkade mest gångbar var att använda sig utav kapacitiva sensorer. Ett testkort som kan drivas av röntgenutrustningens 24V matning konstruerades. Kortet jämför två stycken spänningsnivåer där den ena kommer från en fast likspänning och den andra ursprungligen kommer från en pulsgenerator. Pulsgeneratorn ger ifrån sig en fyrkantspuls på cirka fem kHz, efter pulsgeneratorn sitter en kapacitans bestående av två stycken metalliska ytor. Beroende på avståndet mellan sensorplattorna ökar eller minskar kapacitansen, om ett föremål närmar sig förändrar kondensatorns dielektrikum och en spänningsförändring fås. Efter sensorn förstärker en operationsförstärkare den låga spänningen. Nästa steg är att jämföra den fasta likspänningen med spänningen från sensorn. När ett föremål närmar sig sensorn sjunker spänningen och nivån blir lägre än den fasta likspänningen. Då detta händer ändras komparatorkretsens utspänning från 0 – 12V eller tvärtom beroende på insignalernas koppling till komparatorn. En lysdiod fungerade som spänningsindikator.

    Efter en rad tester och demonstrationer verkade företaget mycket intresserade av att fortsätta arbeta med denna metod och kanske utveckla en ny produkt baserad på denna.

    Syftet med arbetet är att få en ökad kunskap om hur lärare arbetar för att elever i skolår 2 ska befästa begreppen dubbelt, hälften och del av helhet dvs. bråk. Vi vill även ta reda på hur eleverna uppfattar dessa begrepp i fem matematikuppgifter. Vi har använt oss av kvalitativa undersökningsmetoder, intervjuer med lärare och fallstudie i elevgrupp. Målet är att hitta lämpliga undervisningsmetoder för att kunna stödja elevers lärande och förståelse för matematiska begrepp.Resultatet av undersökningen visar att det jobbas mycket med begreppen dubbelt och hälften i de första skolåren. Språket och ett laborativt arbetssätt är en grundförutsättning för att eleverna ska få en begreppsförståelse. Begreppet dubbelt är befäst hos eleverna i undersökningen, begreppet hälften har eleverna svårare för särskilt när ett udda antal 10-tal ska halveras. De flesta av eleverna i undersökningen hade ingen begreppsuppfattning om del av helhet. Del av helhet jobbar man inte medvetet med i skolår 2, det är mest i förbifarten begrepp som tredjedel och fjärdedel nämns.

    Hydroware Elevation Technology AB är ett företag som utvecklar styrsystem till hydrauliska hissar. Hårdvaran i detta system börjar bli gammal och går troligen ur produktion inom en snar framtid. EU har dessutom upprättat nya säkerhetsföreskrifter för installation av hissar där styrsystemet omnämns. I en grupp av hissar skall hisskorgarna isoleras från eventuella fel i övriga hissar. Med detta i åtanke har man inlett en förstudie där man tittar på ny hårdvara. Den nya hårdvaran har bland annat stöd för dubbla kommunikationsbussar, de bussar som styrsystemet använder för att kommunicera med samtlig styrelektronik.

    Detta examensarbete går djupare in på teorin bakom kommunikationsbussen CANbus och kommunikationsprotokollet CANopen. En idé för hur styrprotokollet kan modifieras för att stödja de dubbla bussarna presenteras. Presentationen följs av en beskrivning av implementeringen och testningen av modifikationen.

    The objective of this paper is to review some recently developed sum rules and physical bounds in scattering and antenna theory. The sum rules are based on identities for Herglotz functions that relate the quantity of interest integrated over all wavelengths with its static polarizability dyadics. They are transformed to physical bounds by applying variational principles for the polarizability dyadics together with various estimates of the integrals. The theoretical findings are exemplified by numerical results for several configurations.

    Abstract [en]

    In this paper, we introduce a first order accurate resonance model based on a second order Pade approximation of the reflection coefficient of a narrowband antenna. The resonance model is characterized by its Q factor, given by the frequency derivative of the reflection coefficient. The Bode-Fano matching theory is used to determine the bandwidth of the resonance model and it is shown that it also determines the bandwidth of the antenna for sufficiently narrow bandwidths. The bandwidth is expressed in the Q factor of the resonance model and the threshold limit on the reflection coefficient. Spherical vector modes are used to illustrate the results. Finally, we demonstrate the fundamental difficulty of finding a simple relation between the Q of the resonance model, and the classical Q defined as the quotient between the stored and radiated energies, even though there is usually a close resemblance between these entities for many real antennas.

    Abstract [en]

    In this paper, the inverse scattering problem of amultilayer structure is analysed with the Fisher information matrix and the Cramer–Rao lower bound (CRLB). The CRLB quantifies the ill-posedness of the inverse scattering problem in terms of resolution versus estimation accuracy based on the observation of noisy data. The limit for feasible inversion is identified by an asymptotic eigenvalue analysis of the Toeplitz Fisher information matrix and an application of the sampling theorem. It is shown that the resolution is inversely proportional to the bandwidth of the reflection data and that the CRLB increases linearly with the number of slabs. The transmission data give a rank-1 Fisher information matrix which can approximately reduce the CRLB by a factor of 4. Moreover, the effect of dispersive material parameters and simultaneous estimation of two material parameters are analysed. The results are illustrated with numerical examples.

    Abstract [sv]

    Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur barn mellan 3-6 års ålder utvecklar förståelse för antal på montessoriförskolor. Vi vill också se vilka metoder som används och vilken roll montessorimaterialen kan ha för barns lärande av antal. Vi har därför genomfört kvalitativa intervjuer med utbildade montessorilärare samt ostrukturerade deltagarobservationer bland barnen. Undersökningarna gjordes på tre olika montessoriförskolor i tre olika kommuner. Ett av våra mest betydelsefulla resultat visar på vikten av vardagsmatematik med barnen. Samtliga montessorilärare som intervjuades menar att det är betydelsefullt att barnen får många tillfällen till räkning samt att det är meningsfullt för dem. Montessorilärarna använder sig av både montessorimaterielen och andra metoder såsom spel, rim och ramsor, problematiseringar m.m. på förskolan för att stimulera barnets lärande av antal. Resultatet visar också att barnen använder sig av Gelman och Gallistels fem räkneprinciper i sitt räknande. Vår upplevelse är att miljön på en montessoriförskola stimulerar barn att räkna samtidigt som montessorilärarna medvetet använder sig av matematiken i sin kommunikation tillsammans med barnen.

    Näringslivet internationaliseras och globaliseras alltmer samtidigt som ny teknik utvecklas. Kunder ställer allt högre krav på kvalitet och produkternas livscykler blir allt kortare. Detta ställer höga krav på flexibel produktion och korta ställ- och ledtider.

    Syftet med denna uppsats är att ta fram en handlingsplan för att förbättra processerna, ar-betsmetoderna och mätsystemet på en reproavdelning inom den grafiska industrin för att öka dess produktivitet.

    Utifrån teori från områdena informations- och produktionslogistik har vi byggt upp en referensram och en kunskapsplattform. Detta har legat till grund för processkartläggningen och nulägesanalysen av den reproavdelning som studerades i fallstudien. Utifrån detta arbe-te togs ett förslag på lämpligt mätsystem inklusive mätspecifikationer fram, där hänsyn också togs till de krav som finns på verksamheten, både internt och externt. Det empiriska re-sultatet analyserades utifrån den teoretiska referensram som tagits fram och resulterade i en handlingsplan.

    Vi kan identifiera flera områden där det finns potential för att förbättra och effektivisera processerna och arbetsmetoderna för att öka produktiviteten. Dessa har beaktats i handlingsplanen. De viktigaste förbättringsåtgärderna är:

    •Eliminering av onödiga aktiviteter

    •Effektivisering av informations- och kunskapsspridning

    •Implementering av ett lämpligt mätsystem som visar helheten av verksamheten

    •Utnyttjande av balanserat styrkort för uppföljning och styrning.

    Genom att göra en processkartläggning och se över sina verksamhetsprocesser kan alla företag och organisationer upptäcka flaskhalsar, icke värdeskapande aktiviteter och andra brister som hindrar ett effektivt flöde i verksamheten.

    Att ta marknadsandelar med hjälp av goda produktegenskaper blir allt svårare och idag fokuserar företag allt mer på att kunden ska få ett mervärde utöver vad den fysiska produkten ger. Mervärdet kan bestå av t.ex. leveransservice som är en samlingsterm på hur kunden uppfattar kvaliteten på leverantörens logistikaktiviteter. Leveransservice syftar till att alla på marknaden känner att de får rätt produkt och ett mervärde genom att köpa produkterna från en speciell leverantör. Trots vikten av att upprätthålla en bra leveransservice, för att behålla kunderna, står företag inför problemet med planering av personal under exempelvis semestertider då många ur den ordinarie personalstyrkan är lediga flera veckor i sträck. Problemen kan bl.a. bestå av en tillfälligt bristande kompetensförsörjning d.v.s. att personalplaneringen inte tillgodoser de krav på tillgänglig kompetens som finns. Med kompetensförsörjning menas planering och åtgärder som ska se till att företaget har tillräckligt med arbetskraft både i form av kvalitet och kvantitet. Bristande kompetensförsörjning kan resultera i problem med att tillfredsställa kunderna optimalt p.g.a. försämrad leveranspålitlighet, som är ett delbegrepp inom leveransservice och innebär att beställda produkter når kunden i utsatt tid. Om kompetensförsörjningen inte är tillfredsställande kan det innebära att leveranspålitligheten sjunker och därmed också att antalet missnöjda kunder ökar. Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva sambandet mellan en säkrad kompetensförsörjning och god leveranspålitlighet. Syftet är även att förklara hur kompetensöverföring, under planerad personalfrånvaro, kan säkerställas samt att presentera påverkande faktorer för säkerställd kompetensförsörjning. Arbetet har skett med ett induktivt angreppssätt, och utifrån ett hermeneutiskt förhållningssätt med inslag av det positivistiska synsättet. Genom en kvalitativ empirisk undersökning på tvättmaskinsföretaget Electrolux Laundry Systems (ELS) i Ljungby, samt en omfattande litteraturstudie har syftet uppfyllts och den inledande frågeställningen besvarats.

    Resultatet visar att det finns ett samband mellan försämrad leveranspålitlighet och bristande kompetensförsörjning under semesterperioden. Utleveranssiffror under maj – november 2007 visar att leveranspålitligheten försämras under augusti fram till i början av september, d.v.s. perioden efter semesterveckorna. Undersökningen har visat att p.g.a. bristfällig kompetensförsörjning, bl.a. i form av dåliga rutiner för rekrytering och introduktion av tillfällig arbetskraft och brister i rutiner för överföring av kompetens, kan verksamheten inte upprätthålla leveranspålitligheten. Det resulterar i klagomål och missnöjda kunder. Uppsatsen avslutas med en sammanfattning av framtagna faktorer som påverkar kompetensförsörjningen och som företag bör ta hänsyn till vid planering av personalfrånvaro.

    Points-to analysis is a static program analysis which computes possible reference relations between different parts of a program. It serves as input to many high-level analyses. Points-to analyses differ, among others, in flow- and context-sensitivity, program representation, and object abstraction. Most program representations used for points-to analysis are sparse representations which abstract from, e.g., primitive data types and intra-procedural control-flow. Thus, a certain degree of information is sacrificed for compact program representation, which results in scalable performance. In this thesis, we present a framework which allows building different versions of Points-to SSA (P2SSA), a sparse, Memory SSA based program representation. Distinct instantiations of P2SSA contain different levels of abstraction from a program's full representation. We present another framework which allows running Points-to analyses on these program representations. We use these two frameworks to instantiate different versions of P2SSA and compare them in terms of analysis precision and execution time.

    Points-to information is the basis for many analyses and transformations, e.g., for program understanding and optimization. To justify new analysis techniques, they need to be compared to the state of the art regarding their accuracy and efficiency. Usually, benchmark suites are used to experimentally compare the different techniques. In this paper, we show that the accuracy of two analyses can only be compared in restricted cases, as there is no benchmark suite with exact Points-to information, no Gold Standard, and it is hard to construct one for realistic programs. We discuss the challenges and possible traps that may arise when comparing different Points-to analyses directly with each other, and with over- and under-approximations of a Gold Standard. Moreover, we discuss how different Points-to analyses can be combined to a more precise one. We complement the paper with experiments comparing and combining different static and dynamic Points-to analyses.

    Points-to analysis is a static program analysis aiming at analyzing the reference structure of dynamically allocated objects at compile-time. It constitutes the basis for many analyses and optimizations in software engineering and compiler construction. Sparse program representations, such as Whole Program Points-to Graph (WPP2G) and Points-to SSA (P2SSA), represent only dataflow that is directly relevant for points-to analysis. They have proved to be practical in terms of analysis precision and efficiency. However, intra-procedural control flow information is removed from these representations, which sacrifices analysis precision to improve analysis performance.

    We show an approach for keeping control flow related information even in sparse program representations by representing control flow effects as operations on the data transferred, i.e., as dataflow information. These operations affect distinct paths of the program differently, thus yielding a certain degree of pathsensitivity. Our approach works with both WPP2G and P2SSA representations.

    We apply the approach to P2SSA-based and flow-sensitive points-to analysis and evaluate a context-insensitive and a context-sensitive variant. We assess our approach using abstract precision metrics. Moreover, we investigate the precision improvements and performance penalties when used as an input to three source-code-level analyses: dead code, cast safety, and null pointer analysis.

    Abstract [en]

    Java 5 has introduced a number of new syntactical language features that make development faster, easier, and safer. However, at the same time, it has also introduced downward incompatibilities: code written for Java 5 cannot be used on pre-Java 5 platforms. This tool demonstration presents a number of source-to-source transformations that backport source code written for the Java 5 platform to legacy platforms. Developers who are, for different reasons, still bound to legacy platforms can benefit with help of this tool from the new language features, and they can use thirdparty components written for more recent platforms. Compared to existing tools, ours is the first that can backport all new syntactical Java 5 language features while the user maintains full control of the source code.
