    Abstract [en]

    The digitization of industry has drastically changed the competitive landscape by requiring a higher degree of specialization and shorter time to delivery that affect the design properties a software platform should satisfy. The platform architecture must sustain continuous and rapid change to the organizational architecture, which in turn is affected by external forces: i.e., forces drive the velocity of change. In this paper, we explore the effects of digitization, characterizing internal and external forces that impact on business strategies and trigger the continuous realignment of the platform, and outline a research agenda to mitigate the effects.

    Abstract [sv]

    Den här studien undersöker hur utsläppen av CO2 samt NOx skulle påverkas av att man tog en längre rutt runt ett Natura 2000 område mellan Gotska sandön och Fårö norr om Gotland i Östersjön. Detta för att undvika att köra i ett natura 2000 området och på så sett minska sjöfartens påverkan på djurlivet där. Med hjälp av AIS data har information tagits fram om hur många fartyg som använder rutten genom natura 2000 området. En sammanställning av vilka typer av fartyg samt dess maskineri har också tagits fram med hjälp av detta. Som ligger till grund för uträkningarna för CO2 samt NOx utsläppen. Studien visar på att CO2 utsläppen kan öka med upp till 4,72 ton genom att köra en längre rutt runt området, även NOx utsläppen ökar, med upp till 0,13ton.

    of function, fault isolation manuals and lists of components. The major part of this project has been the

    function and construction of those systems and the fitting and integration to already existing

    components.

    Abstract [en]

    Moisture related damage is an occurring problem in wood-based buildings if the material is exposed to rainfall during construction. Measurement of moisture content can be done with various instruments and methods. The purpose of the thesis is to study change in moisture content in cross-laminated-timber, with prolonged exposure to water in laboratory environment. To advance the field, the Linnaeus University has been developing a measurement instrument of their own in collaboration with the company Saab. The instrument measures electrical resistance in wood where the obtained values will be compared to similar measurements from a product named Gigamodule. The self-developed sensor card is still a product under development. In addition to the lab setting measurements the instrument was also installed in a local building in Växjö.

    To verify the result from the previously mentioned resistance measurers additional instruments and methods have been utilized. Two separate models have been used to represent the detail of the connection between the wall element and the joist. Both models have been submerged under water for an equal amount of time. The experimental setting took place between the 19th of April to the 18th of May 2018. The measurements and calculations have been resulting in values that can be the subject of internal evaluation. Difference in result based on the direction of the grain have been observed in several measurement methods. The CLT-elements demonstrated good drying properties despite periodically high moisture content and the wood indicate a return towards initial levels of moisture.

    Ledarskap till sjöss: Utmaningar med multikulturellt ledarskap ombord i fartyg2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study is to investigate possible challenges regarding multicultural leadership at sea, and to see if these differ from challenges connected to multicultural leadership ashore.

    Considering the special conditions onboard a ship, and based on previous studies and literature, five components for successful multicultural leadership at sea has been identified. These five components have been the base of an interview guide, which has been used to conduct interviews with twelve seafarers onboard a Swedish flagged ship. The seafarers were asked what they consider to be good leadership, their expectations on leadership and how they feel affected by the environment onboard.

    According to the interviews, the seafarers feels that the most important traits for a leader is to be fair, kind and knowledgeable. The seafarers appear to be aware of the expectations connected to their roles onboard, but they do not seem to contemplate that people from different cultures may have different expectations on their role. Based on the literature study and the interviews, one can make out that a ship-specific culture rules the social environment onboard. The crewmembers seem to primarily adapt and adjust to this ship-specific culture, and their own national culture comes in second hand.  In conclusion, the biggest challenge of multicultural leadership at sea is recognized to be the ability to be a fair and kind leader in an isolated and wearying environment.

Uppsatsen beskriver ett yrkeskunnande som både innehåller avancerade datorsimuleringar och handfasta lödningar av elektriska komponenter, där teori och praktik samverkar. Uppsatsen är skriven i essäform, där händelser och situationer i yrkeslivet utforskas.

    Uppsatsen är skriven för att belysa yrkeskunnandet hos en elektronikingenjör från olika synvinklar; arbetslivet, lärandet och moralen. Genom att behandla tre olika sidor av yrket är tanken att få en större insikt om yrkets helhet.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose with this project is to explore and verify three renovating systems for Miljonprogrammet (common expression for

    buildings constructed during the years 1965-1975 when over a million houses where built in Sweden) to take measure to the

    largely transmission losses of these buildings. Many of the buildings from this period have similar constructions and therefore

    the same techniques can be used to renovate several of them. This project only considers the climate scale, although there

    are many more factors to concern for to efficient the buildings of Miljonprogrammet.

    This thesis presents examples of renovations carried out using two of the three renovation systems.

    The essay presents a reference house of choice on which we apply the three systems and calculate the new U-values,

    consumption of energy and the investment costs. The new U-values the building is given is matched to the values of

    recommendation for passive houses. Our reference house is a two story apartment building, located in the village of

    Lammhult, with brick facades at the ends and plaster at the long sides. One of the long sides contains balconies. The three

    systems are additional insulation, prefabricated additional insulation and replacement of the facade. We consider which

    renovation systems are best in different conditions, also considering the treatment of the tenants.

    The result of the study shows that with additional insulation and prefabricated additional insulation the buildings transmission

    losses will be major lowered. The investment cost and payoff time for the prefabricated version is much lower. If the standard

    of passive house is wanted the replacement of facade technique should be used. This method requires that the tenants move

    out during the renovation work. The investment cost for this method is significantly higher but the payoff time is equal with the

    additional insulation methods payoff time

    Abstract [en]

    Fires onboard a seagoing vessel is a very serious accident since you can not rely on shorebased firefighers. The only resource available is the crew and their ability to tackle the situation. Fires can quickly get uncontrollable since there is large amounts of fueloil and even the cargo might be flammable. The purpose with this thesis is to highlight those places onboard that have the greatest risk of fire. So that the crew can either awoid fire or be better prepared if a fire starts.

    The result is based upon data taken from incidentreports from Northern European countries and vessels with length greater than 100m.

    The conclusion that was made is that the engineroom area was the most common place for fires.

    The most common reasons for the fire to start was a leakage of flammable liquid  or electrical failiures.

    Abstract [en]

    The thesis is carried out in order to improve the transfer case in trucks with all-wheel-drive. When the truck loses traction at the rear wheels, due to slippery surfaces, wheel-spin occurs. If the driver engages the all-wheel-drive at a point where traction already has been lost, a relative rotational speed in the dog clutch will occur. If this relative speed is too high the dog clutch bounces of itself before coupling or it does not couple at all.

    To avoid this problem, the geometry of the teeth is modified. FE simulations are done for the existing model as well as for all the new models in order to find out which of them can handle the highest relative rotational speed.

    The results show that the original model is not the best one. Simple modifications of the teeth’s chamfer distance and chamfer angle shows that the dog clutch can handle up to 120 rpm of relative rotational speed whereas the original model only handles 50 rpm.

    Abstract [sv]

    Detta examensarbete syftar till att utreda inneklimat- och energisituationen i Lekaryd kyrka. För att göra detta har klimatmätning genomförts, samt simuleringar med datorsimuleringsprogrammet IDA – Klimat och energi. Kyrkan har höga energikostnader och för att få kännedom om energiförlusternas storlek och fördelning, har en kartläggning av kyrkans energiflöden genomförts i syfte att fastställa dess energibalans. Målet är att resultaten från klimatmätningen och datorsimuleringarna ska kunna användas som underlag vid utarbetande av åtgärdsförslag för en lönsammare och ur bevarandesynpunkt skonsammare drift av Lekaryd kyrka. Kyrkan värms intermittent vilket är skonsammare för kyrkan då långvariga variationer i den relativa fuktigheten undviks. Analysen av inneklimatet i kyrkan visar att den relativa fuktigheten ligger inom ett intervall där risk för uttorkningsskador och mögeltillväxt inte bör vara överhängande. De datorsimuleringar som har genomförts, innefattar simulering av kyrkans inomhusklimat och kyrkans energibalans. Vid datorsimulering av en tung stenkyrka är det viktigt att programmet tar hänsyn till väggarnas värmetekniska egenskaper för att ett bra resultat ska erhållas. Byggnadens värmelagrande förmåga tar programmet hänsyn till, men komplikationer uppstår när noggranna värden i relativa fuktigheten önskas. Resultatet från energisimuleringen pekar på att kyrkan dras med stora energiförluster i form av transmission genom byggnadsskalet, samtidigt som det visat sig att det passiva värmetillskottet från sol och intern transmission har en betydande inverkan på kyrkans aktiva uppvärmning.

    Abstract [en]

    House production is a process where high quality thinking is important in order to avoid customers complaints. The niche of Sävsjö Trähus AB (STAB) is to adapt each house as close as possible to the specific requirements of the costumer. This complicates the production process of the houses and also increases the risk of possible complaints. During 2006 STAB had complaints orresponding to approximately 3,1 millions SEK. The aim and the purpose of this study is to examine the complaints, the checkpoints and the different stages in the process of house building in order to counteract the origin of complaints and to give advise that can reduce the number of inspection remarks.

    One result of the study is a division of complaints in damages that are physically caused and problems that are caused by wrong decisions - caused of lack of communication between involved persons. In order to counteract the origin of complaints more intensive and clearer information should be exchanged among involved parties e.g. with the help of the business programme Pyramid. 3D blueprints should also be made in order to communicate what the house will look like when it is finished. This will make the customer aware of what has been decided in an early stage. Another recommendation is a change of the salesmen’s education in order to get a better overall vision of the house production (go beside a salesman, a draughtsman, production personnel and finally maybe

    also participate in a house rising). STAB should also continue to reward salesmen that achieve no remarks at the inspection. Further STAB should commit skilled installers or engage own assembly staff under STAB or under the salesman and demand that this staff makes all of the house risings. Further STAB should to subcontractors emphasize the need for improved packaging of woodwork.

    Projektet syftar till att bredda kunskapen om induktionsladdning och belysa de för- och nackdelar tekniken bär med sig på utrustning och kringliggande system.

    Med nya strikta krav på sänkta CO2 utsläpp väljer många redare att konvertera dieseldrivna färjor till hybrid eller helbatteridrift. För att tidseffektivisera hamnuppehållen krävs nya innovativa metoder för energiöverföring. Induktionsladdning av fartyg har provats på det norska fartyget MS Folgefonn med lyckat resultat.

    Utmaningarna med att upprätta en fungerande laddstation med sändenhet och mottagarenhet på ett fartyg, som på grund av väderförhållanden inte hålls helt stagnerad, har varit komplicerade.

    Belastningen på det lokala elnätet har också försvårat processen med en energiöverföring i den magnituden, på så mycket som 1 MW effekt.

    Abstract [en]

    The essay contains an assessment of water reservoirs, where an examination and analysis of storage volumes and construction solutions are carried out. Today there are no clear guidelines for how reservoirs in smaller communities should be designed and dimensioned to ensure water quality and guarantee a safe water supply. The goal and purpose of the essay is to calculate a storage volume, identify important aspects to consider in designing a reservoir, and present advantages with and the need of a water reservoir based on consumption variations. The assessment is limited to Lammhults’s conditions where interviews, observations, literature studies, analyses and calculations serve as a foundation for the theory and the result. The result demonstrates, among other things, difficulties, difficulties in analyzing consumption variations, the importance of local correct statistics and questioning of existing methods of dimensioning a storage volume. The essay partially some problem areas, but further studies are required to find solutions in the sector and straight guidelines regarding dimensions and design of reservoirs.

    Abstract [en]

    The basis of the study lies with a newly patented gearbox by cardiologist and inventor Stig Lundbäck. Stig founded CorPower Ocean AB to further develop the gearbox to be used in a wave energy device. The purpose of this project is to develop a concept of a lifting system with CorPower Oceans gearbox that is more energy efficient than a hydraulic lifting system. The goal is to use technology from CorPower Oceans gearbox inversely to perform heavy lifting as an alternative to hydraulics. The project is limited to applying the gearbox and gear rack on a forklift with a lifting capacity of ten tons.The main tool in this project will be the product development process Systems Engineering where only the most relevant parts will be used to develop a concept. Calculations of the strength and dimensions of the gear racks are made to ensure the possibility of this solution.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this thesis is to develop a model that will guide a company towards a decision of whether to

    change the current due date of work orders or not. The model will help the company to reveal the technical and

    financial factors that will be affected and how these factors can be assessed. After accomplishing a thorough

    literature review, we found no existing practical models in this specific area. We developed a model to cover this

    gap in the existing theories. A case study approach was used to test the developed model on our case company

    Elitfönster in Lenhovda who manufactures windows. We applied our model at the processing department and the

    change concerned going from a weekly to a daily due date of work orders. The technical factors that would be

    affected by the change of the due date are; setup times, lead time and output of components. The financial

    factors that will be affected are the tied-up capital and the manning. We found that a change could not be carried

    through without a purchase of an extra plane. The model also showed that the financial benefits that the change

    generated could not surpass the costs that an extra plane would cause. Thereby, our recommendations to the

    case company are to keep the current due date of work orders until the rest of the company can handle the extra

    components that can be produced after the change.

    Abstract [sv]

    Examensarbetet har genomförts på uppdrag av Länsstyrelsen i Blekinge och Ronneby Kommun och syftar på att utreda om tidigare tilläggsisolering med karbamidskumplast och polystyrencellplastkulor, på tre stycken byggnadsminnesförklarade byggnader på Ronneby Brunn i Blekinge, har medfört eventuella fuktskador. Undersökningarna av byggnaderna har utförts med ett antal valda undersökningsmetoder som var, okulär besiktning, termografering, klimatmätning, materialtest, fuktkvotsmätning elektrisk, fuktkvotsmätning med metoden vägning-torkning-vägning, samt simulerade fuktdiffusionsberäkningar. Efter att ha sammanvägt de olika undersökningsmetodernas resultat för respektive byggnad antas det att isoleringen inte utgör något hot för väggkonstruktionerna så länge de har en hög ånggenomsläpplighet och har tätt ytskikt på utsidan. Den förhöjda relativa fuktigheten som har noterats vid beräkningar av väggkonstruktionerna antas torka ut snabbt då konstruktionen har lågt ånggenomgångsmotstånd. De skador som upptäckts vid undersökningarna beror inte på byggnadernas isolering. Ett materialtest på karbamidskumplasten visar att fuktupptagningsförmågan är högre för material ifrån byggnaderna än från ett nyare material. Det innebär att om byggnaderna utsätts för inträngande vatten kan detta sugas upp kapillärt. Därför är det av vikt att den yttre tätningen som endast består av träpanel och färg har ett tätt skikt. Polystyrencellplasten antas däremot inte ha någon större kapillaritet alls. Då konstruktionerna har ett mycket begränsat värmemotstånd och vetskapen om att ogenomtänkta åtgärder kan skapa problem, bör det företas en kartläggning av byggnadernas möjlighet till att bli mer fuktsäkra och inte minst mer energieffektiva.

    Abstract [en]

    Designing an application from top to bottom is a challenge for any software architect. Designing an application to be deployed in the cloud adds extra complexity and a variety of questions to the task. One of these questions is how to deploy an application? The most popular choices at this time are either Docker containers or serverless functions. This report presents a comparison between the two deployment methods based on cost and performance. The comparison did not yield a conclusive winner but it did offer some key pointers to help with the decision. Docker containers offer a standardized deployment method for a low price and with good performance. Before choosing Docker the intended market needs to be evaluated given that for each region Docker needs to serve, the price also increases. Serverless functions offer auto-scaling and easy global deployments but suffer from high complexity, slower performance, and an uncertain monthly price tag.

    Abstract [en]

    Our thesis has been performed in the company of Electrolux Laundry Systems (ELS) logistics department, Logistics Center Ljungby (LCL). Over the past year, the company has met setbacks during an IT/IS-project in the logistics department (LCL). The essay is thus aimed to describe and analyze why the IT/IS-project have stagnated. To achieve the purpose of the study we have applied a mainly qualitative approach in which the primary data is collected through methods such as interviews and participant observations while the secondary data is obtained by means of litterature and public documents.

     

    The study’s result consisted of participant observation at LCL, and interviews with co-workers at various levels in the organization. These have shown a lack of communication between employees at different levels in the company. Moreover, the result proved the company's shortcomings in designing the pilot study, e.g. deeply root the project, planning time, resources, costs and specify requirements. Our conclusions from this study are that effective communication between different levels of employees, and an accurately performed pilot study, are essential elements to give a project the right conditions.

    Abstract [en]

    The following study has been carried out on behalf of Sjöfartsverket. The study examines how the installation of a common rail system on board the icebreaker Ymer affected fuel consumption and emissions of nitrogen oxides. The raw data logged on board Ymer was analyzed and processed. Materials and information from manufacturers, crew and the technical manager at the Swedish Maritime Administration, Albert Hagander have been used during the study. Together with measured data and previously made research study the findings of the study are supported. It is no coincidence that the system of the common rail type is already applied in most industries such as transport, car industry and agriculture. The main purpose of the Common Rail is to reduce fuel consumption and reduce emissions through cleaner and more efficient combustion of the fuel. We primarily examined how the newly installed system affected fuel consumption and the fuel savings will vary with the load of the machine. Furthermore, we examined how emissions of nitrogen oxides were affected after installation. The problem of increased NOx production due to a higher combustion temperature as the common rail system entails are discussed in the report. The result that was concluded was that fuel savings can be made on board Ymer by replacing the old fuel system with a common rail fuel type. Furthermore, the installation has brought other improvements such as ship machine's reaction to the many load changes that occur during icebreaking.

    Abstract [en]

    Vibrations in internal turning operations are usually a cumbersome part of the manufacturing process. This article focuses on the boring bar vibrations. Boring bar vibrations in alloyed steel, stainless steel and cast iron have been measured in both the cutting speed direction and the cutting depth direction with the aid of accelerometers. The dynamic response of a boring bar seem to be a time varying process that exhibits non-linear behaviour. The process is influenced by non-stationary parameters that are not under the control of the operator or experimenter. The vibrations are clearly dominated by the first resonance frequency in one of the two directions of the boring bar. The problem with force modulation in rotary machinery, which appears as side band terms in the spectrum, is also addressed. Furthermore, the resonance frequencies of the boring bar are correlated to an Euler-Bernoulli beam model.

    Abstract [en]

    The internal turning operation has a history of being a cumbersome metal working process as vibration in boring operations is usually inevitable. In this article, the deflection shapes and/or mode shapes as well as the resonance frequencies of a boring bar have been put under scrutiny. Three methods have been used in order to investigate dynamic properties of a clamped boring bar: a theoretical Euler-Bernoulli beam model, an experimental modal analysis and an operating deflection shape analysis. The results indicate a correlation between the shapes of the deflection shapes and/or mode shapes produced by the three different analysis methods. On the other hand, the orientation of the forced deflection shapes and/or mode shapes and the resonance frequencies demonstrate differences between the three methods. During continuous cutting, it is demonstrated that the bending motion of the first two resonance frequencies is to a large extent in the cutting speed direction. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd.     Vindkraftsindustrin är en ständigt växande marknad och för att behålla konkurrenskraftighet och tillit till kunden är det viktigt att hantera reklamationer. Reklamationer påverkar både ekonomiska och tekniska aspekter.

    Studien har utförts på ett fallföretag med syfte att föreslå förbättringar i produktionsprocessen som resulterar till minskade reklamationer. Detta genom en utvecklad modell för att identifiera och lokalisera problemorsakerna.

    Genom att följa den specifika modellen framtagen för fallföretaget har ett resultat redovisats. Reklamationsorsakerna beror stress, störmoment, ej uppdaterad arbetssätt, inget tydligt 5S arbete integrerat i den dagliga verksamheten och avsaknad av uppföljning. Detta har lett till en ekonomisk förlust på ca 9 procent per produkt som reklameras och en förlust i produktionstid motsvarande ca 10 timmar per månad. Med antagande av kostnads- och tidsförluster samt andra slöserier som sker i produktionen, har förbättringsförslag tagits fram.

    Abstract [en]

    This work is a thesis in mechanical engineering at c-level (15hp). The author decided that he wanted to dedicate this work to try to develop the canopy swings because he saw potential to do so. The reason for this was mainly the fact that they have hardly been developed at all since they became popular in the 1960s here in Sweden. The project has mainly been about product development and design, where a lot of time has been spent on trying to solve all the different problems that the set demands resulted in. The work started with an extensive feasibility study. Thereafter, the ideas that emerged during the preliminary study where developed further. This was first done by using paper and pencil, but was later transferred to digital form. It was most often only possible to fully test an idea when that was made. The result is a hammock with a modern design and several new features, which in the report are presented as images of the CAD model that was made.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis and report has addressed and focused on identifying the interaction effect that occurs when an information system's interface is scaled off and is minimalistic. This case study is based on a web-based writing tool called Writer. The purpose of the research has been to clarify the personal interaction effect in an interactive usage situation and how it in turn affects the user experience. The theoretical field and framework of the study is Actability , focusing on the interactive action level in connection with The Elementary InterAction Loop . The Elementary InterAction Loop consists of four steps where the user asks, does, gets an answer and then evaluates. In conjunction with the theory, five interaction criteria have been incorporated, which are; Clear Action Repertoire , Intelligible Vocabulary , Action Transparency , Clear Feedback , and Amendability . These five criteria have been the thematization of the empirical work.

    Through both targeted selection and snowball sampling, six journalists/writers have been involved in collecting data. In the method work, user test was performed on the writing tool with tasks formulated in accordance to the five interaction criteria. In the method work, user tests was performed on the writing tool. Thereafter the tasks was formed according to the five interaction criteria from the theoretical framework. All informants evaluated their experience and made thirteen statements based on a user experience questionnaire where concepts such as easy to learn/not easy to learn and effective/ineffective were asked for. Following these two steps in the empirical study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with fifteen questions based on the five interaction qualities. In order to analyze the collected data, the content analysis method was applied which resulted in 25 categories with descriptions and quotes. Based on a content analysis and its results, the categories were then analyzed using the D.EU.PS model and its 18 classes. The analysis resulted in ten interaction effects placed in seven different classes. The result and the ten interaction effects are: Security, Previous references, Terminology, Recognition, Understanding of sequence/action, Perception, Simplicity, Efficiency Availability and Grouping (proximity). Based on personal behavior as a perspective, these effects are the result of a minimalistic writing tool that contributes to a good user experience.

    This study concerns the speed loss and thereby the increased energy consumption which affects ships in shallow water. The aim of the study was to gain knowledge of how much shorter a shallow passage is required to be in order to be the better alternative compared to a long and deep route with regard to fuel and time consumption. The result was that it is not possible to draw any definitive conclusions which are applicable to all ship types, however, there are clear patterns. Moreover, the goal of the study was to aid mariners facing a choice between a long and deep route and a short and shallow route, this was done by creating a compilation of the results for speed loss in open water. Due to the results for confined waters being the same for all the ships in the study, no compilation was done for confined waters as it was deemed excessive. The aim of the study was achieved by quantitative research in the form of mathematical models to calculate speed loss, fuel consumption and time consumption for a number of fictitious ships.

    principle for characterizing failure in humanitarian/relief supply chains’ response to natural disasters,and describes a Bayesian methodology of the failure odds with regard to external factors that mayaffect the disaster-relief outcome, and distinctive supply chain proneness to failure.Design/methodology/approach – The suggested 3Rs combine simplicity and completeness,enclosing all aspects of the 7R principle popular within business logistics. A fixed effects logisticregression model is designed, with a Bayesian approach, to relate the supply chains’ odds for success indisaster-relief to potential environmental predictors, while accounting for distinctive supply chains’proneness to failure.Findings – Analysis of simulated data demonstrate the model’s ability to distinguish relief supplychains with regards to their disaster-relief failure odds, taking into account pertinent external factorsand supply chain idiosyncrasies.Research limitations/implications – Due to the complex nature of natural disasters and the scarcityof subsequent data, the paper employs computer-simulated data to illustrate the implementation ofthe proposed methodology.Originality/value – The 3R principle offers a simple and familiar basis for evaluating failure in reliefsupply chains’ response to natural disasters. Also, it brings the issues of customer orientation withinhumanitarian relief and supply operations to the fore, which had only been implicit within thehumanitarian and relief supply chain literature.

    Protein inhibition by covalent modifications has been widely explored during the last decades. Despite the worries regarding the toxicity and suitability of irreversible covalent drug inhibitors, lately they have gained more and more attention in scientific community. Here we investigate covalent modifications of non-catalytic protein residues with small-molecules as the potential building blocks for future drug discovery. The intricacies of protein structure and the environment they exist in, usually complicate the understanding of the reactivity between the amino acids and compounds. In this study, we attempted to approach this subject from an analytical point of view. By applying recombinant DNA techniques, we expressed and purified proteins of interest; using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) we attempted to label a number of redesigned proteins with the ultimate goal to apply this to human protein kinases, few of which will be presented here. This may potentially assist in rationally target residues in proteins, ideally not ctalytic ones that can be covalently modified, which can serve in later drug design studies. Furthermore, it will optimistically lead us to new efforts in discovering alternative methods of cancer treatment. Ultimately, the combination of experimental techniques and computational models will broaden our knowledge of covalent modifications at allosteric positions in proteins.

    Abstract [en]

    In an effort to streamline processes and create a better standard, industrial construction has become increasingly common in the Swedish construction industry. Therefore, this thesis focuses on a unique proposal on floors for balloon systems, where the aim has been to investigate the possibility of a new type of bracket for balloon systems. The work will focus on the bearing capacity of the landfill and the establishment of a spring constant for this heap. This will be achieved through practical tests and simple calculations. The practical work relates to load the two prototypes of a new type of flooring warehouse to breach and then analyze the weaknesses in the structures. This degree will only consider the design and construction of a mounting profile designed to facilitate the slab types with varying span. The two prototypes have been stressed to breach, and the force and deflection have been measured to develop a spring constant. The laboratory results indicate that it is possible to use this heap profile in construction of light beams.

This purpose was accomplished by a pre-investigation using two interviews with experienced deck officers. This pre-study produced criterias, that made it possible to compare 13 Accident Reports. These reports were used as a litterature for the investigation. The Department of Transport, Marine Investigation Branch(MAIB), The Swedish Accident Investigation Board(SHK) and The Swedish Maritime Safety Inspectorate(SjöfR) had produced these reports. In addition to these reports, the author used both maritime- and aeronautical based articles in order to find more facts about the issues around the investigation. The findings showed that in half of the investigated accidents the mariners involved had used a low level of functionality before making the final decisions. It was also shown, that the ones that had used a very high level of functionality, before the accident, misinterpreted the information and failed to take the right decision in ample time before the accident.

    Studien ger konstruktionslösningar på hur en ombyggnation skulle kunna se ut.

    Resultatet visar att det går att minska energibehovet om balkongväggarna rivs och nya väggar konstrueras i liv med fasaden.

    Växjö kommun har ont om ledig mark vilket har medfört att en undersökning harpåbörjats, där förskolor kombineras med andra verksamheter i en och sammabyggnad. Syftet har varit att undersöka möjligheten med dessa kombinationer för attse vilka konsekvenser som uppstår.

    Undersökningen behandlar två tomter i Växjö som har olika förutsättningar gällandedess detaljplaner. Resultatet visar att en kombination mellan de olika verksamheternaär möjligt men att dagens regler och standardiseringar inte alltid går att ta hänsyn tillvid dessa kombinationer.

    The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to increase our understanding of the different types of waste that affects the internal material- and production flow in a manufacturing company. The study was conducted in order to provide recommendations to improve the efficiency of the process. The study was performed at the company Växjöfabriken Produktions AB, which is located in Växjö and performs cutting processing on casted details. After studying existing theories we created our theoretical base with a selection of theories that we considered important for the study. From these, we generated an analytical model that formed the basis for the continued work in this study. The analytical model provided a structured approach for collecting empirical data from the company, which we then used to make an analytical comparison with our theoretical base. The first step in the process was to conduct a process mapping at the company where we documented all of the data associated with the process. The mapping was then visualized with respect to the flowpaths that the material travels on each machine that were included in our study. The survey also includes the inventory handling and an inspection of the current factory layout.With the process mapping as a basis, we performed an analysis of the current situation in which we analyzed the material and inventory handling, as well as the production layout. With the analysis, we could then identify the different types of waste that belong to the handling of materials that Växjöfabriken currently undertake. The wastes that were found was, in large part, related to a lack of strategy for how the layout is planned. It was also related to a system that places new equipment where there is free space instead of basing its position on a long-term plan for further expansion. With these findings as a starting point, we began to develop new layout options with the aim of reducing the wastes that we found have impact on the process. The first layout is generated without regard to the restrictions that exist at the factory in the form of robotic workstations that are difficult to move. This layout is designed to demonstrate how an optimal material flow with wastes, reduced to a maximum, would look like if there had been a long-term strategy from the start. The development of the next layout, where we had taken the restrictions into account, we sought a design that would get us as close to the previously mentioned one as possible. In the last chapters we discuss the results of newly developed layouts in order to reach conclusions and recommendations for improvements that we believe is feasible and beneficial for Växjöfabriken Produktions AB.

    Volatility clustering is a stylized fact common in nance. Large changes in prices tend to cluster whereas small changes behave likewise. The higher the volatility of a market, the more risky it is said to be and vice versa . Below, we study volatility clustering using an agent-based model. This model looks at the reaction of agents as a result of the variation of asset prices. This is due to the irregular switching of agents between fundamentalist and chartist behaviors generating a time varying volatility. Switching depends on the performances of the various strategies. The expectations of the excess returns of the agents (fundamentalists and chartists) are heterogenous.

Studien har skett på fallföretaget KalmarGlobal och resultatet visar att det inte går att implementera agila projektmetoder rakt av, men att det däremot finns principer inom det agila som kan och bör implementeras för att få företagets projektarbete mer effektivt. Dessa är bl a enklare dokumentering, stå-upp-möten och självstyrande grupper.

    Syftet med arbetet är att förstå hur flaskhalsar påverkar produktiviteten genom att applicera de teoretiska kunskaperna i praktiken och sätta teorin i ett sammanhang. För att skapa en effektiv produktion bör flaskhalsar elimineras eller hanteras på bästa möjliga sätt. Detta är viktigt att arbeta med då kunden inte är villig att betala för de aktiviteter som inte är värdeskapande.

    Genom en fallstudie på ett fallföretag har en problemformulering arbetats fram. Det är baserat på denna problemformulering som forskningsstrategin har utformats.

    Fallföretaget har en kundorderstyrd produktion. De har i dagsläget en form av tryckande produktion genom hela anläggningen. Projektet ska granska sambandet mellan slutmonteringen, som ses som en flaskhals, och fyra av de olika produktionslinorna vars moduler ska gå igenom slutmonteringen. På så sätt kan bidragande faktorer till att det uppstår väntetid urskiljas. Att skapa ett dragande system från slutmonteringen är en alternativ lösning på detta problem.

    Tanken med detta examensarbete var att undersöka om det finns någon ”röd tråd” i grundskolans teknikundervisning. Som teoretisk utgångspunkt har jag tagit en rapport från Teknikföretagen, som visar en relativt dyster bild av svensk teknikundervisning i grundskolan. Därefter har jag genomfört en egen kvalitativ studie där jag har intervjuat fyra lärare och studerat berörda skolors lokala arbetsplaner, för att djupare kunna undersöka vilka faktorer som faktiskt styr och påverkar teknikundervisningen på skolor i närområdet. Studien är stadieövergripande från förskoleklassen och upp till grundskolans år 9. Studiens resultat stämmer tyvärr relativt väl överens med den rapport som Teknikföretagen presenterat, men kan på ett mer kvalitativt sätt på lokal nivå, visa bakomliggande orsaker och personliga åsikter till varför resultatet ser ut som det gör – att den ”röda tråden” i grundskolans teknikundervisning faktiskt är ganska svår att hitta.
