    Abstract [en]

    New innovation and technology have influenced the development of product development processes and the four largest banks in Sweden have more or less been forced to adapt their products and services along new customer requirements. It may therefore be considered appropriate to involve customers in this process. This by collecting customer information and allow customers to influence the process to a greater extent. The payment solutions of Sweden’s largest banks' continue to evolve and to pay with electronic money has come to change banks' product development processes of payment solutions. This process should not only create an innovative product but should also be performed with continuous quality, sharp focus and prioritization, fast action, team focus, customer involvement, follow-through, and with a final product with strong competitive advantages that satisfies customer needs.

    The purpose of this study is with help from Sweden's four largest banking groups; Handelsbanken, Swedbank, Nordea and SEB, create the optimal product development process that includes customer involvement, customer impact, and clearly indicate where and how the collection of customer data should occur. This, with the help of a developed analysis tool - as a result of the study, can be applied to analyze the extent to which customers can be considered to be involved and influence the product development process.

    The four banks do not involve customers in a sufficiently large extent in the current situation in their product development processes. Customer information is collected but not always implemented and the instances where customers may be involved and influence are too few. By modifying the process and eliminating and adding new process phases and in these involve customers with complementary methods has an optimal product development process been developed with a focus on the collection of customer information, customer involvement and customer impact. This process aims to create competitive advantages for banks through increased customer focus.

    Denna kvalitativa studie undersöker möjliga samband mellan strukturerat lärande i

    kooperativa arbetsformer och SUM-elevers delaktighet. För att SUM-eleverna ska vara

    reellt inkluderande krävs en upplevelse av delaktighet i alla tre aspekter, fysisk, social

    och didaktisk. Denna undersökning fokuserar på matematiska resonerande samtal i grupp

    för att se om SUM-eleverna kan delta på samma villkor som sina klasskamrater inom

    klassens ram. Forskning har visat att det finns lärmiljöer och undervisningssätt som ger

    bättre förutsättningar till lärande för alla elever. Skollag och läroplan ger ett dubbelt

    uppdrag, demokratiuppdraget och kunskapsuppdraget. Modellen Kooperativt Lärande

    skulle kunna möjliggöra detta samtidigt. Studien bygger på en intervention som gjorts i

    form av deltagande observation. För att kunna besvara frågeställningarna har en triangulär

    ansats gjorts. Fältanteckningar, intervjuer och enkäter har använts för att fånga upp

    elevernas agerande och upplevelser. Studien utgår från ett socialkulturellt synsätt på

    lärande och har teorier om gruppen betydelse för lärande, positivt ömsesidigt beroende

    och kooperativ lärande som teoribas. Slutsatsen är att Kooperativt Lärande ger många

    möjligheter för elever med olika behov och kunskapsnivåer att utvecklas. Arbetsmodellen

    ger en möjlighet till reell inkludering för SUM-eleverna, men kräver mycket av den

    undervisande läraren. För att ett ömsesidigt positivt beroende ska uppstå krävs noggrann

    planering av tid, grupper och uppgifter. Det förutsätter att läraren är väl insatt i arbetssättet

    och är beredd att se sin roll på ett nytt sätt, samt att förstå budskapet bakom modellen.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis uses a Dynamic Systems Theory (DST) perspective to explain language development and metalinguistic awareness in five third language learners (L3) of English at the individual programme’s introduction course (IVIK). From a DST approach it is evident that every complex dynamic system, like multilingual learner systems, develops according to internal self-organizational properties and to the interaction between the learner and the environment. Every system consists of different interacting subsystems that can be competitive or connected growers. In this thesis, rates of word length, text length and vocabulary ratio have been measured and compared. The results reveal that there are competitive relationships between the subsystems’ word length and text length along with vocabulary ratio for four of the five students. Student motivation, length of schooling, amount of languages and proficiency levels and length of schooling in English is also analysed in consideration of language development as well as metalinguistic awareness. The results show no strong correlations between these factors apart from the student who has the highest motivation and a longer English schooling also has the highest metalinguistic awareness. Furthermore, results also indicate a positive correlation between metalinguistic awareness and L3 proficiency. This confirms previous research about the positive effects of multilingualism and higher cognitive and metalinguistic ability.

    Abstract [en]

    Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a growing routing technology. It is getting more common in today’s modern networks. When implementing MPLS, it is essential that the hardware is capable of handling such technology. If not, this could lead to packet loss or even network outage. The purpose of this study was to examine differences between MPLS and traditional IP-routing in aspect of CPU utilization. Routing protocols BGP, OSPF and RIP were configured together with the technologies in order to see which of the mentioned routing protocols that was the most efficient in terms of CPU utilization.

    An environment was created for the experiment. Each routing protocol was configured together with MPLS and traditional IP-routing respectively, which lead to a total of six scenarios. Traffic was sent through the network with an application called Ostinato with the purpose of increasing the load of the devices.

    The results showed higher CPU utilization with MPLS compared to traditional IP-routing. This was the case with each routing protocol. BGP had the lowest CPU utilization of the routing protocols in conjunction with MPLS whilst OSPF had the highest. The result between OSPF and RIP was slightly different.

    Background

    Continuous abstinence and retention in treatment for alcohol and drug use disorders are central challenges for the treatment providers. The literature has failed to show consistent, strong predictors of retention. Predictors and treatment structure may differ across treatment modalities. In this study the structure was reinforced by the addition of supervised urine samples three times a week and mandatory daily work/structured education activities as a prerequisite of inclusion in the program.

    Methods

    Of 128 patients consecutively admitted to buprenorphine maintenance treatment five patients dropped out within the first week. Of the remaining 123 demographic data and psychiatric assessment were used to predict involuntary discharge from treatment and corresponding cumulative abstinence probability. All subjects were administered the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV-TR, and the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90), the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT), the Swedish universities Scales of Personality (SSP) and the Sense of Coherence Scale (SOC), all self-report measures. Some measures were repeated every third month in addition to interviews.

    Results

    Of 123 patients admitted, 86 (70%) remained in treatment after six months and 61 (50%) remained in treatment after 12 months. Of those discharged involuntarily, 34/62 individuals were readmitted after a suspension period of three months. Younger age at intake, poly-substance abuse at intake (number of drugs in urine), and number of conduct disorder criteria on the SCID Screen were independently associated with an increased risk of involuntary discharge. There were no significant differences between dropouts and completers on SCL-90, SSP, SOC or AUDIT.

    Conclusion

    Of the patients admitted to the programme 50% stayed for the first 12 months with continuous abstinence and daily work. Poly-substance use before intake into treatment, high levels of conduct disorder on SCID screen and younger age at intake had a negative impact on retention and abstinence.

    Title: Gender equality – of course! A qualitative study on gender equal recruitment at a university

    Several studies show that the division of gender in Swedish universities is uneven. Since universities are important organizations where our future citizens get their education and become socialized, I found it interesting to investigate how a Swedish university handles the gender equality issue in the process of recruitment. The aim of this study was to contribute with a higher level of knowledge and understanding about the recruitment process out of a gender equality perspective. The aim was also to identify which stages of the recruitment process that was vulnerable out of a gender equality perspective. To examine this, these following questions were put: Which struc-tures may seem prohibitive when it comes to recruit gender equal? and Which stages in the pro-cess is vulnerable out of a gender equal perspective?. Weber's bureaucracy model and also institutional theory with concepts such as legitimacy were used to explore the subject. To carry out the study, a qualitative method with interviews was used and seven persons with different experiences of the recruitment process participated. The result shows that there are several vulnerable stages in the recruitment process and that there are structures that may seem prohibitive from a gender equality perspective. There is a discrepancy between how the documents present the work with gender equality and the actual behavior in the organization. Another vulnerability that emerges from the study is that knowledge and information were not communicated and spread out in the organization. There are ambiguities in the routines and uncertainties on how you can, or cannot, write the employment profile to attract candidates. The commitment to gender equal recruitment is often a matter of personal interest. However, the results show that nobody opposes the issue of equality as an important matter. The results were further analyzed by using the concepts professional bureaucracy, meritocracy, inertia, legitimacy and decoupling.

    Background: The increased application of eServices in health care, in general, and ePrescribing (electronic prescribing) in particular, have brought quality and interoperability to the forefront. The application of standards has been put forward as one important factor in improving interoperability. However, less focus has been placed on other factors, such as stakeholders’ involvement and the measurement of interoperability. An information system (IS) can be regarded to comprise an instrument for technology-mediated work communication. In this study, interoperability refers to the interoperation in the ePrescribing process, involving people, systems, procedures and organizations. We have focused on the quality of the ePrescription message as one component of the interoperation in the ePrescribing process.

    Objective: The objective was to analyze how combined efforts in improving interoperability with the introduction of the new national ePrescription format (NEF) have impacted interoperability in the ePrescribing process in Sweden, with the focus on the quality of the ePrescription message.

    Methods: Consecutive sampling of electronic prescriptions in Sweden before and after the introduction of NEF was undertaken in April 2008 (pre-NEF) and April 2009 (post-NEF). Interoperability problems were identified and classified based on message format specifications and prescription rules.

    Results: The introduction of NEF improved the interoperability of ePrescriptions substantially. In the pre-NEF sample, a total of 98.6% of the prescriptions had errors. In the post-NEF sample, only 0.9% of the prescriptions had errors. The mean number of errors was fewer for the erroneous prescriptions: 4.8 in pre-NEF compared to 1.0 in post-NEF.

    Conclusions: We conclude that a systematic comprehensive work on interoperability, covering technical, semantical, professional, judicial and process aspects, involving the stakeholders, resulted in an improved interoperability of ePrescriptions.

    Samhället är förändrat vilket innebär att förskolans pedagogiska uppdrag stärkts. Det har gjorts revideringar i förskolans läroplan (Lpfö 98, rev 2010) som innebär att det bland annat gjorts förtydligande kring barns språkliga och kommunikativa utveckling och förskollärarens ansvar. I förskolans verksamhet möter förskolläraren barn som kommit olika långt i sin utveckling av språk, utvecklar språk parallellt samt barn som stött på hinder i sin utveckling av språk. I detta självständiga arbete uppmärksammas förskollärarens uppfattning av möjligheter och hinder att utveckla barns utveckling av språk. Syftet med uppsatsen är att belysa förskollärarens syn på barns språk och sin roll som språkutvecklare i förskolan. För att få svar på vårt syfte i vår undersökning ställer vi frågan vilka möjligheter och hinder finns att som förskollärare arbeta med barns språk och språkutveckling i förskolan. Undersökningen genomförs av en kvalitativ forskningsmetod där tio förskollärare intervjuas. Bakgrunden kopplas till litteratur och resultat/analysdelen tolkas med tidigare forskning och vetenskapliga teorier.

     

    I resultat framkommer att det finns goda möjligheter att utveckla barns språk i förskolans verksamhet. Då förskolläraren är ansvarig för hur verksamheten utformas och organiseras ses de ha en roll som språkutvecklare. Sociala relationer, samspel mellan barnen och vuxna samt miljön och omgivning är betydelsefullt för barns utveckling av språk. Förskolan ska lägga grunden för ett livslångt lärande. För att förbereda barnen inför kommande utbildning är det angeläget att verksamheten organiseras och planeras så att barnen möter språk. Nyfikenhet ska väckas för olika kunskapsämnen som barnen kommer möta i skolans värld vilket inte framkommer i studien.

     

    Resultatet av undersökningen visar att förskollärarnas kompetens är avgörande för hur de ser på barns språk och sin roll som språkutvecklare i förskolan. Pedagoger har olika engagemang och kunskap kring förskolans uppdrag vilket påverkar förskolans kvalitet och utveckling av barns språk. Detta synliggörs genom vår frågeställning där förskolläraren beskriver möjligheter och hinder med att arbeta med barns utveckling av språk i förskolan. I undersökningen framkommer det att informanterna önskar kompetensutbildning om barns språk, utveckling av språk samt hur barn utvecklar språk parallellt.

    Introduktion: Vid synkontrollen hos skolsköterskan upptäcks ofta de barn som har nedsatt synskärpa, som de närsynta. Men de barnen som är översynta slinker lätt genom detta kontrollnät i och med att de kan kompensera sitt synfel genom ackommodation.

    Syfte: Syftet med denna undersökning var att se hur mycket dold översynthet det finns hos barn i lågstadiet samt för att se om +1-metoden är lämplig för detta ändamål.

    Metod: +1-metoden går ut på att det ena ögat täcks för så att det inte kan se något alls medan det andra ögat får titta genom ett glas som mäter +1 dioptrier. Den förväntade synskärpeförändringen i förhållande till barnets fria synskärpa är en minskning på 5 rader, eller en visusförsämring på 0,5 med en tavla som är indelad i decimaler. Om förändringen är mindre är inte patienten rätt korrigerad och en dold översynthet kan vara den bakomliggande orsaken.

    Resultat: Totalt deltog 27 barn i studien i årskurs 2 och 3. Vid undersökningarna visade det sig att 25,9% av skolbarnen fick en försämrad synskärpa med 0,5 eller mer med +1-metoden, alltså de var inte översynta.

    Diskussion och slutsats: Denna studie visar att +1-metoden är ett bra sätt att upptäcka dold översynthet bland barn i skolan. Metoden borde inkluderas i skolsköterskornas synscreening för att kunna fånga upp de översynta barnen som ackommoderar hela dagarna.

    Syfte: Syftet med arbetet har varit att undersöka fixationsdisparitet hos personer som fötts för tidigt och för att se om det finns någon skillnad mellan dessa och personer som fötts i fullgången tid. Syftet har även varit att undersöka om Saladin card kan anses vara en pålitlig metod för att mäta fixationsdisparitet.

    Metod: Fixationsdispariteten mättes upp med Saladin card och associerade forier mättes upp med Mallett unit. Vidare mättes dissocierade forier upp med Modifierad Thorington och stereoseendet mättes upp med Titmus fly. I resultaten jämfördes 22 st prematura deltagare med 22 st fullgångna deltagare. Samtliga 44 personer jämfördes sedan mot varandra vid en utvärdering av de olika mätmetoderna.

    Resultat: Vid en jämförelse mellan de båda grupperna, prematura och fullgångna, fanns ingen signifikant skillnad i resultaten. Medelvärdet för de båda grupperna låg inom vad som räknas som normala värden för de olika mätningarna. En jämförelse mellan Saladin card och Mallet unit påvisade likartade resultat.

    Slutsats: Det var ingen signifikant skillnad i fixationsdisparitet mellan de fullgångna och de prematura deltagarna. Saladin card är ett mer känsligt test än Mallett unit för att mäta upp små horisontella och vertikala avvikelser.

    Uppsatsen syfte var att jämföra hur svenska och brittiska mödrar beskrev fenomenet skuld.

    Undersökningen är en fenomenologisk studie som bygger på ostrukturerade intervjuer där huvudfrågan löd; ”Can you describe a situation in which you have experienced feelings of guilt?”.

    Målgruppen var brittiska arbetande mödrar som var sambo eller gifta med barnets/barnens far.

    Resultatet av de brittiska kvinnornas intervjuer kom sedan att jämföras med en svensk fenomenologisk studie (av Elvin-Nowak, 1999) på samma ämne. Detta för att undersöka om det fanns skillnader i sätten skuld beskrevs av mödrarna i de båda länderna. I båda studier användes EPP-metoden för fenomenologiskt behandling av insamlade data.

    Resultatet indikerade att det fanns både likheter och skillnader i hur skuld beskrevs av kvinnorna i de två länderna.

    Studien visade att kvinnorna i Sverige och Storbritannien beskrev skuldkänslor på liknande vis då det kom till skuld rörande egna behov, skuldkänslor i relation till andra samt då de bröt mot sina principer eller föreställningen om sig själv.

    En viktig skillnad tycktes vara hur de brittiska kvinnornas skuld så tydligt kunde kopplas till valet att arbeta utanför hemmet, vilket de svenska kvinnorna inte rapporterade.

    De svenska kvinnorna verkade uppleva ambiguitet och konflikt kring sina antagna roller, detta kunde enligt författaren inte skönjas i de brittiska kvinnornas skuldberättelser.

    Syftet med denna uppsats var dels att öka förståelsen samt kunskapen kring behandling inom

    kriminalvårdens regi av män med kvinnomisshandelsproblematik, dels att genom

    teorianknytning belysa fenomenet ur en ny vinkel. De övergripande frågeställningarna var:

    Vilka är männen som misshandlar kvinnor? Vad är viktigt i behandlingen av dessa män? samt:

    Hur hanterar man kombinationen straff/behandling? Metoden som användes var en kvalitativ

    intervju med en halvstrukturerad uppläggning. Intervjuerna gjordes med tre behandlare som

    arbetar och har arbetat med männen i behandling inom kriminalvården. De utskrivna

    intervjuerna tolkades utifrån ett hermeneutiskt perspektiv och har ytterligare belysts utifrån

    socialfilosofer som Mead och Foucault. Resultatet uppvisar det är viktigt i behandlingen med

    männen att inte fördöma dem, utan visa respekt för dem som personer och tro på att de kan

    genomgå en förändring. Männen är i stort behov av att få tala om sina handlingar på ett icke

    fördömande sätt och samtidigt få lära sig att hantera de känslor de har. Analysen visar också att

    männen inte ser behandlingen som ett straff som påverkar deras vardag. Undersökningens

    resultatet är användbart för såväl blivande som redan yrkesverksamma behandlare av denna

    problematik, både inom och utanför kriminalvården.

    BACKGROUND: Recent data revealed differences in human absorption kinetics and metabolism between food folates and folic acid supplements and fortificant.

    OBJECTIVE: The objective was to determine folate bioavailability after ingestion of breads or a breakfast meal fortified with either 5-CH(3)-H(4) folate or folic acid by using a stable-isotope area under the curve (AUC) and ileostomy model.

    DESIGN: In a randomized crossover trial, healthy ileostomists (n = 8) ingested single doses of whole-meal bread that contained ap 450 nmol (200 micro g) of either (6S)-[(13)C(5)]5-CH(3)-H(4) folate or [(13)C(5)]folic acid or a breakfast meal that contained ap 450 nmol (200 micro g) [(13)C(5)]folic acid. We collected blood from the subjects during 12 h postdose for assessment of plasma kinetics. Nonabsorbed folate was assessed from labeled folate contents in stomal effluent 12 and 24 h postdose.

    RESULTS: The median (range) plasma AUC(0 rarr 12) (AUC from 0 to 12 h after ingested dose) of 66 nmol sdot h/L (34-84 nmol sdot h/L) after ingestion of bread that contained (6S)-[(13)C(5)]5-CH(3)-H(4) folate was significantly greater (P lt 0.001) than that after ingestion of [(13)C(5)]folic acid in fortified bread [28 nmol sdot h/L (15-38 nmol sdot h/L)] and a fortified breakfast meal [26 nmol sdot h/L (15-60 nmol sdot h/L)]. Both labeled doses resulted in increases of plasma [(13)C(5)]5-CH(3)-H(4) folate. However, the kinetic variables C(max) (maximum plasma concentration) and T(max) [time (min) of maximum plasma concentration] varied after ingestion of the different folate forms. The stomal folate content was lt 10% of the ingested dose and did not vary significantly after ingestion of test foods that contained (6S)-[(13)C(5)]5-CH(3)-H(4) folate [median (range): 13 nmol (10-31 nmol)] or [(13)C(5)]folic acid [median (range): 25 nmol (8-42 nmol)] (P = 0.33).

    CONCLUSIONS: Our data confirm differences in plasma absorption kinetics for reduced folates and synthetic folic acid administered with the test foods. Stomal folate contents indicated almost complete bioavailability of labeled folate from the breads or breakfast meal.

    BACKGROUND: Ten years after the introduction of mandatory folic acid fortification in the United States, Canada, and Costa Rica, the issue is still under debate in several countries, and Sweden recently decided against mandatory fortification.

    OBJECTIVE: The objective was to determine the folate status of women after an intervention involving 2 Swedish dietary recommendations: a food recommendation (bread) and a complete meal recommendation (breakfast).

    DESIGN: Fifty-one free-living women with normal folate status participated in a 12-wk controlled intervention trial. Subjects were randomly assigned to one of the following interventions: apple juice (control group; n = 17), a breakfast providing 125 microg folate (breakfast group; n = 17), or 5 slices of whole-meal bread to be eaten over the course of the day, which provided 70 microg folate (bread group; n = 17). Folate status was assessed on the basis of concentrations of erythrocyte folate, serum folate, and plasma total homocysteine (tHcy) at baseline and at weeks 8 and 12 of the trial.

    RESULTS: In the breakfast group, initial median concentrations of erythrocyte folate (805 nmol/L) increased by 172 nmol/L (95% CI: 24, 293; P = 0.02) relative to the control. The relative increase in initial serum folate (2 nmol/L, 95% CI: 0, 5; P = 0.06) was nonsignificant. The initial tHcy concentration (8.7 micromol/L) decreased by 2.3 micromol/L (95% CI: -1, -3.4; P < 0.01). In the bread group, the initial tHcy concentration (9.1 micromol/L) decreased nonsignificantly by 1.4 micromol/L (95% CI: 0, -2.8; P = 0.08) relative to the control group, whereas other outcomes were stable.

    CONCLUSIONS: The folate status of the subjects improved after regular consumption of the breakfast meal. The additional folate intake from the bread maintained the folate status but was not sufficient to improve it.

    The vitamin folate is recognized as beneficial health-wise in the prevention of neural tube defects, anemia, cardiovascular diseases, poor cognitive performance, and some forms of cancer. However, suboptimal dietary folate intake has been reported in a number of countries. Several national health authorities have therefore introduced mandatory food fortification with synthetic folic acid, which is considered a convenient fortificant, being cost-efficient in production, more stable than natural food folate, and superior in terms of bioavailability and bioefficacy. Other countries have decided against fortification due to the ambiguous role of synthetic folic acid regarding promotion of subclinical cancers and other adverse health effects. This paper reviews recent studies on folate bioavailability after intervention with folate from food. Our conclusions were that limited folate bioavailability data are available for vegetables, fruits, cereal products, and fortified foods, and that it is difficult to evaluate the bioavailability of food folate or whether intervention with food folate improves folate status. We recommend revising the classical approach of using folic acid as a reference dose for estimating the plasma kinetics and relative bioavailability of food folate.

    Background

    Estimated average folate intake in Sweden is less than 55% of the recommended daily intake (RDI) for women of childbearing age (Becker and Pearson in Riksmaten 1997–1998 Kostvanor och näringsintag i Sverige. National Food Administration, Uppsala, pp 34, 44, 121, 2002). Because a good folate status reduces the risk of neural tube defects, mandatory folic acid fortification is discussed in some European countries. This however, could lead to exposure to unintentionally high amounts of folic acid for some population groups, therefore targeted folic acid fortification could be an alternative.

    Aims

    To (1) determine natural folate content in three popular brands of orange juice sold in Sweden, (2) determine stability of natural folate and folic acid fortificant during shelf life in a folic acid/iron fortified orange juice, (3) determine folate stability in four juices during simulated household consumption for one week and (4) determine the in vitro bioaccessibility of natural folate in one brand of orange juice using the TNO gastroIntestinal Model (TIM).

    Methods

    Natural folate content in juices was determined using RP-HPLC-FL. To determine folic acid content and confirm RP-HPLC-FL values LCMS was used. Stability during shelf life was determined in unopened bottles of a folic acid/iron fortified juice and for one week in four popular juices under household consumption conditions with reopening of bottles daily. For an in vitro folate bioaccessibility experiment in orange juice the TNO TIM Model was used.

    Results

    5-CH3-H4folate was the dominant natural folate form in the juices with contents ranging from 16–30 µg/100 g. Shelf life losses of folic acid fortificant were 1–4%. During one week simulated household consumption 5-CH3-H4folate content decreased by up to 7% (n.s). Bioaccessibility of natural folate in orange juice was almost 100%. Most folate was released for absorption in jejunum between 60–120 min after trial start.

    Conclusion

    Orange juice may be considered a good source of natural folate in respect to content and stability during storage and simulated digestion. Moreover, added folic acid fortificant in a folic acid/iron fortified orange juice was stable during shelf life.

    BACKGROUND: Bread is an important folate source in several countries. However, bread-making was reported to cause losses of endogenous bread folates (approximately 40%) as well as added synthetic folic acid (approximately 30%). Furthermore, the bread matrix is suggested to inhibit absorption of folates.

    PURPOSE: To (1) estimate retention of both, endogenous folates and synthetic fortificants, during bread-making, (2) assess in vitro folate bioaccessibility from breads and a breakfast meal and (3) assess in vitro folate uptake.

    METHODS: Retention of folate forms was assessed by preparing fortified (folic acid and [6S]-5-CH(3)-H(4)folate) wholemeal breads and collect samples from dough, proofed dough and the bread. In vitro folate bioaccessibility was assessed using the TNO gastrointestinal model TIM. In vitro folate uptake was assessed using a novel Caco-2 cell/stable isotope model. Folate content in samples was measured using LCMS.

    RESULTS: Bread-making resulted in losses of 41% for endogenous folates and up to 25 and 65% for folic acid and [6S]-5-CH(3)-H(4)folate fortificant, respectively. 75% of endogenous bread folates and 94% of breakfast folates were bioaccessible as assessed by TIM. From [6S]-5-CH(3)-H(4)folate-fortified bread, relative folate uptake into Caco-2 cells was 71 +/- 11% (P < 0.05) when compared with a standard solution.

    CONCLUSION: Retention of folic acid fortificant during bread-making was substantially higher compared to retention of [6S]-5-CH(3)-H(4)folate fortificant. Data from the TIM and Caco-2 cell trials suggest an inhibiting effect of the tested bread matrices on in vitro bioaccessibility of folates, whereas folate bioaccessibility from a breakfast meal is almost complete.

    Once women were the pioneers within the tech industry, but during the last decades the amount of women who choose a career within computer science has decreased rapidly. Programming languages have evolved during the last decades and because of the growing gender gap in the industry, they have done so involuntarily in the absence of women. The imbalance raises the question if the tech industry and the programming languages have been adapted for a more masculine way of developing software. A quantitative study and a literature review evaluates if there is a need for a computerlanguage developed towards women. The study comes to the conclusion that there is no need for a female inspired computer language, but the way computer languages are taught suits the male way of thinking better than the female way.

    Bakgrund: Det debatteras i media kring styrelsernas ersättningsnivåer och varför det finns skillnader på dem. Det är intressant att studera vilka bakomliggande faktorer som finns till ersättningsnivåerna för att få en förståelse kring varför nivåerna skiljer sig åt mellan bolagen. Det har gjorts många studier kring ersättning till ledande befattningshavare, men få när det gäller ersättning till styrelser, vilket ger oss ett motiv att komma med ett bidrag till forskningen kring ersättningsnivåerna till styrelsen.

     

    Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att kartlägga vilka faktorer som påverkar styrelsens ersättning i sin helhet vad gäller storlek och form bland bolagen på Stockholmsbörsen.

     

    Metod: Vi har haft en deduktiv ansats i vår studie där vi har lyft fram teorier kring styrelsens ersättning i den mån de finns och använt oss av teorier kring ersättning till ledande befattningshavare och applicerat dem på styrelsen. Utifrån teorierna lyfte vi fram faktorer som kan tänkas påverka ersättningen, vilka sedan grupperades in efter de olika organen i den svenska bolagsstyrningsmodellen. En kvantitativ studie genomfördes där data hämtades från bolagen på Stockholmsbörsens årsredovisningar, vilken har legat till grund för analyser och resultat.

     

    Resultat: Av faktorerna var det bolagets storlek och andel internationella ledamöter som utmärkte sig då de var signifikanta i alla våra modeller. Vi kan konstatera att det enligt våra modeller är de faktorer som kan härröras till bolagsstyrningsorganet styrelsen som har störst korrelation med ersättningsnivåerna. Utifrån studien kan konstateras att teorier från ersättning till ledande befattningshavare till viss del kan appliceras på ersättning till styrelser. Vi kan även dra slutsatsen att det främst är resursberoendeteorin som kan förklara ersättningsnivåerna. Våra resultat har lyft fram de faktorer som ligger till grund för ersättningen och genom att identifiera dessa kan det skapa en legitimitet för att ersättningsnivåerna ligger på den nivå de gör i bolagen.

    On January 1, 2014 a legislative amendment to the former National Heritage Act (1988: 950) was put in action, one of the new amendments that was conceived in what is now called Culture Environmental Act (1988: 950). The change made it possible for the County Councils to enforce that the results associated with archaeological research would be conveyed to the public.

    The present work is a case study aiming to see what kind of impact this amendment has had on the archaeological specifications and offer invitations for archaeological investigations.

    The main questions for the work are:

    • What kind of mediation is being required by the County Councils?
    • Why was the law changed?
    • Is there a difference in this respect between different counties?
    • Has there been any noticable change in practice in this respect after the amendment introduction?

    This study aims to answer these questions and throughout it also give you as a reader information about the history behind the changes as well as what impact the changes has had on archaeological investigations and the mediated results to the public. The aim is also to show the different ways that archaelogy is communicated and to whom.

    En viktig målsättning i den svenska skogspolitiken är att skogsbruket ska bedrivas på ett hållbart sätt och i Skogsvårdslagen är produktionsmålen och miljömålen jämställda. Skogsägare kan utöver detta åta sig att certifiera sin fastighet, antingen genom FSC eller PEFC. Certifiering är ett marknadsdrivet, frivilligt åtagande och handlar om att ta ett större ansvar för miljö och natur än vad Skogsvårdslagen kräver.  Syftet med denna studie är att jämföra förekomst av naturvärden på certifierade fastigheter och icke-certifierade fastigheter genom fältinventering av utvalda kriterier. Kriterierna valdes utifrån mätbara och synliga indikatorer på naturvärden och utifrån faktorer som speglar variationsrikedom, hänsyn, kontinuitet, flora-och faunaobjekt och återväxt. I denna studie har vi arbetat fram en funktionell inventeringsmall i syfte att kartlägga naturvärden på fastighetsnivå.  En slutsats från inventeringen var att naturens egna förutsättningar är en viktig faktor för förekomsten av naturvärden i högre grad än om fastigheten är certifierad eller inte.

    Background: During the 2000s Sweden has built so many arenas s that it’s unprecedented in the Swedish history. Billions has been plowed into the arenas while criticism has grown. While this is being written new arenas are planned and built even though almost all new arenas has been proved to be unprofitable. Due to limited research regarding Swedish arenas there’s a need to study and describe the ongoing arena-boom.

    Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to increase knowledge about Swedish arena investments regard to the following aspects: Reasons why they have been built, its investment structure and its ownership structure.

    Method: The study has been performed by combining a method with structured interviews and questionnaires to all Swedish arenas built between years 2000-2014. A literature study was carried out as foundation of the surveys design, which because of incomplete data had to be supplemented with structured interviews. In order to visualize the Swedish arena-boom and its influencing factors the empirical data was partly analyzed descriptive and partly statistically.

    Conclusion: The main reasons behind this study’s arena investments are rationalization and improvement, increased focus on sports, as well as increased social enrichment and enhanced image. During the last decade a trade of ownership structure has taken place and as a result arenas are a majority of the arenas are now privately owned. Statistical analyzes has been made illustrate that the ownership structure doesn’t affected the underlying causes behind the arena investments.

    Background and problem: Since the new law took place in 1999, it has been illegal towash a car with substances that can damage the environment on a paved street or on a driveway through a garage. This has conveyed to a new industry where more and more self-service car wash facility have opened around the country. Vetlanda Vägkrog AB has since 2012 been planning to install manual self-service car wash facility at the back of their restaurant business. The authors mission was to make an analysis in order to examine whether an investment of carwashes are lucrative enough for Vetlanda Vägkrog AB.

    Aim: The study's main objective was to analyze the profitability of an investment in a self-service car wash facility at Vetlanda Vägkrog AB, based on given data. The authors sub-aim was to clarify which factors in general that had played the greatest part in the establishment of a self-service car wash facility.

    Method: The authors have used an abductive approach in order to fulfill the aim of the study. Furthermore, have the authors used semi-structured interviews in order to gather all empirical data. The interviews were performed on the suppliers, municipal employees and the two owners of Vetlanda Vägkrog AB. The collected data is then explained using theory and henceforth meet the purpose.

    Conclusion: The results of this study shows that the investment of a self-service car wash facility based on Vetlanda Vägkrog AB conditions is economically efficient and profitable. Net present value method, Pay back and internal rate of return (IRR) is the following methods that the authors consistently have used in order to solve this task. An analysis of three different outcomes were made on the variables that might influence the

    results, for instance volume and periodic payments has been done in order to get an idea of how sensitive the estimate was.

    This is a qualitative study that explores the involvement of the relatives in the special housing based on the perspective of fourteen interviewees working in elderly care, at special housing.

    The purpose of this study is to analyze the nursing staff's view of the involvement of the relatives and the presence of care provision at special housing. The study is to find out what can constitute support or obstacles to the relatives.

    Three questions have been presented as the structural basis upon which the objective finds its conclusion. These questions try to explore and identify the forms of support that can help relatives in their involvement in elderly care. There are opportunities and obstacles for the involvement of the relatives in the care of the elderly as well as expectations of nursing staff on the role of the relatives in the care of the elderly which the following study focuses on.

    The research reflected in this study involves the care staff and their experiences and views on the relatives who have their older live permanently in residential care.

    In conclusion, the study identifies similar reasoning among respondents regarding to key aspects of the relatives at the special housing. They emphasizes that relatives are needed there and they are important resource for both the residents and the staff.

    The results indicate that there may be both opportunities and obstacles for the involvement of the relatives. On one side, factors that prevent relatives from their involvement are lack of communication, poor attitude, different views of relatives and staff about care and conflicts between them. On the other side, there are opportunities that can facilitate relatives' involvement, namely the fact that they need support from the staff. The interviewees pointed out that the relationship between relatives and the elderly is the basis of the relatives' involvement.

    Leukocytes, white blood cells, are cells of the immune system. They are produced and derived from hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow. Leukocytes can be divided into neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils. To determine the numbers of leukocytes in blood the leukocyte particle concentration (B-LPK) can be analyzed by cell counters. When B-LPK is elevated or lowered a differential count of leukocytes (B-Diff) is performed to see in which cell systems the change exists. The manual analysis involves peripheral blood smears stained with a cytochemical color, May-Grünwald Giemsa. The smear examined in an automatic microscopically system that counts, photographs and pre-classify leukocytes by its appearance. DiffMaster Octavia and CellaVision DM1200 are two variants of such instruments from the same manufacturer (CellaVision AB, Lund, Sweden). The aim of the study was to do a comparison between these instruments by analyzing 60 samples consisting venous blood in EDTA-tubes. The samples were collected randomly from patients (32 men and 28 women) between 19-95 years old. The results from two-sided paired t-test showed no significant difference between the differential count of neutrophils, lymphocytes and monocytes. The correlation was 0,95, 0,91 and 0,68. However, there was a significant difference between the instruments differential count of eosinophils and basophils, the correlation was 0,91 and 0,20. When counting only 200 cells a profit of 2 % distinguish up to 1-5 %. Abnormalities in leukocytes which represents only a few percent in blood can therefore be very large. Method comparison showed that both instruments give the same results and are considered equivalent in analysis of manual B-Diff.

    Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att undersöka hur barn upplever sin vardag på dagis. Detta har jag försökt ta reda på genom att vara med på ett dagis under två veckors tid. Där har jag sedan observerat och samtalat med barnen i deras vardag. Det är främst samtalen med barnen som ligger till grund för undersökningen. Jag har använt mig av kvalitativ metod och den fenomenografiska ansatsen som metodologiska verktyg, samt Alfred Schütz och Johan Asplunds begrepp och resonemang som hjälp för att begripliggöra materialet. Resultatet visade bland annat att barn inte har någon tydlig avgränsning mellan dagis och hemma eftersom båda dessa tillhör barnens omvärld. Det visade också att barn lever i ett mer uttalat responsivt förhållande till varandra än vad vi vuxna gör. I studien blev det också tydligt att barnen levde efter den inre, personliga tid som Alfred Schütz kallar la durée.

    Syftet med studien är att undersöka attityder hos högstadieelever till varieteterna skånska, norrländska och svenska på mångspråkig grund. Ett annat syfte är att ta reda på om dessa ungdomar anser svenska på mångspråkig grund vara en dialekt, och om svaren varierar utifrån kön och första- och andraspråkstalare. Ett annat perspektiv som jag även kommer att presentera är den didaktiska aspekten på språklig varietet och vilka pedagogiska faktorer som kan påverka elevernas attityd till dialekt.En enkätundersökning utfördes på två könshomogena grupper, där eleverna fick lyssna på inspelningar av de tre olika språkliga varieteterna. Resultaten av informanternas definitioner av dialekt är följande: geografiskt, tids- och platsbundet och språkligt släktskap. Ungdomarnas definition av dialekt stämmer överens med forskarnas, det vill säga tal som är typiskt för ett geografiskt område, även om ungdomarna använder andra ord. Enligt undersökningen varierade ungdomarnas attityd till språkliga varieteter mellan kön och till en viss del mellan första- och andraspråkstalare. Flickorna valde fler positiva uttryck än pojkarna till varje dialekt, förutom till svenska på mångspråkig grund som talades av mannen, det som pojkarna var mest positiva till. Andraspråkstalarna var något mer positiva till svenska på mångspråkig grund än förstaspråkstalarna.

    The in vivo chlorophyll a fluorescence index (F+DcM u-F-DcMu/F+DcMU) of natural waters was compared to the 14C-determined primary production, and the fluorescence intensity in the presence of 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-l,l-dimethylurea (F + DCM~) was studied as a function of extracted and spectrophotometrically determined chlorophyll concentrations. Samples were taken every second week from May through October, 1979, at the station "Systrarna" situated in a coastal area of the Bottnian Sea. In addition, samples from the Archipelago Sea of the Baltic were collected on board the Finnish research vessel R/S "Aranda" during the September cruise 1979. The correlations between the fluorescence index and the 14C-determined primary production and between F+DcMu and total chlorophyll concentration were good when samples taken over short time intervals were compared. The shortcomings of both the fluorescence and the 14C methods are discussed. It is concluded that the fluorescence method is useful if it is desirable to follow with high time resolution any changes in the potential for photosynthesis (or pirmary production) in a water mass over relatively short time periods; e.g. during an algal bloom. The fluorescence method can furthermore be technically developed for automatic monitoring with a high time resolution. Efforts are being made in our laboratory to develop the method further to give information about the in situ rates of photosynthesis rather than the potential for photosynthesis in a phytoplankton population.

    Teachers in Social Studies can benefit from geographical perspectives in their teaching of Social Studies in elementary and high school. The aim is to connect geographical perspectives to various social processes and to integrate it in teaching of Social Studies. But how can the relevance of geographical perspectives in an education for teachers in Social Studies be motivated and to what benefits can it be internalized? I will try to answer that question in this article. This relevance is mainly, with basis in a literature study, focused on democracy, sustainable development and digital literacy. It is also relevant by giving teachers a broader teaching skill and thus they are able to help pupils achieve higher-order skills.

    Abstract [en]

    This chapter concerns the views of knowledge adopted in the Swedish curriculum for state schools in an international context. It addresses how geographical and spatial thinking are expressed with regard to the subject specific abilities expected of students who learn geography. The introductory section highlights the current view of knowledge in the Swedish curriculum, explains how subject specific abilities for geography have been defined and used in the Swedish context, and describes their application in state schools. Importantly, these subject abilities are considered in relation to thinking both geographically and spatially. The research that underpins this chapter was conducted using a variety of qualitative methods: specifically, interviews with key people involved in the process of drafting education policy documents and analysis of such documents used in the making of the state curriculum. Interviews have been conducted with one of the authors of the curriculum, and with others responsible for curriculum development at the National Agency for Education. Policy documents from the Swedish Ministry of Education, from the National Agency for Education, and from curriculum developers have also been analysed. This chapter includes research findings based on the analysis of such material and reflections about how these sources of evidence can increase our knowledge of thinking geographically and spatially.

    Geography as a school subject varies in different nations. This comparative study is based on legitimation code analysis of the two countries’ Geography National Curriculum in compulsory secondary education (Year7-9) respectively. It follows with a school case study on Chinese and Swedish teachers' interpretation about development topic in their teaching, which is the process of re-contextualisation in practical classroom when transforming the idea on the paper to action in teaching. The main outcomes show how knowledge is described in the curriculum standards, and the teachers' case study gives insight in how and in what ways we could transform the hypothesis to practice, thus enhance the view of knowledge in the curriculum.

    Bakgrund: Långvarig smärta är den smärta som har pågått i mer än tre till sex månader, kroppsligt fyller den ingen funktion. Smärta är kopplat till lidande, då utgör familjen ett viktigt stöd. Upplevelsen av hopp kan påverka ett sjukdomsförlopp positivt. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att belysa drabbade personers erfarenheter av långvarig smärta. – Hur hanteras den livsförändring som långvarig smärta bär med sig? – Hur påverkas hoppet av det lidande som långvarig smärta är starkt förknippat med? – Vilken betydelse har den långvariga smärtan i familj, relationer och det sociala livet? Metod: Studien är en systematisk litteraturstudie och baseras på nio vetenskapliga, kvalitativa artiklar hämtade ur databaserna Cinahl, PubMed och PsycINFO. De nio artiklarna kvalitetsgranskades med hjälp av en granskningsmall och analys av data gjordes genom en innehållsanalys. Resultat: De drabbades erfarenheter visar att hoppet har en positiv inverkan på långvarig smärta. Med hjälp av olika strategier kring hanteringen av smärtan kan lidande lindras och hoppet främjas. Närstående och sjukvården har en hjälpande roll och trots långvarig smärta kan den drabbade uppnå en god livskvalité. Slutsats: Livskvalitén främjas av hoppets påverkan på lidandet. Närstående och sjukvård utgör ett viktigt stöd i hanteringen av smärtan.

    Syftet med det här självständiga arbetet är att undersöka hur fritidslärare upplever och beskriver arbetet med bildskapande på mångkulturella fritidshem. I arbetet redogör vi för fritidslärares upplevelser av elevers interaktion och kommunikation i bildskapande aktiviteter och vilka pedagogiska konsekvenser bildskapandet kan medföra på mångkulturella fritidshem. Dessutom vill vi skapa förståelse för vad fritidslärare kan behöva tänka på inför genomförande av bildskapande aktiviteter i ett mångkulturellt fritidshem.

     

    Vi har använt kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer som metod för att kunna besvara våra frågeställningar. Vi intervjuade sex olika fritidslärare på sex olika fritidshem i tre olika kommuner. Resultatet i vårt arbete visade på att fritidslärarna inte upplevde att elevernas utländska bakgrund hade någon direkt inverkan på de bildskapande aktiviteterna på fritidshemmen. En aspekt som ändå framkom är att fritidshemmen gör olika val angående att anpassa bildskapandet vid olika svenska högtider på grund av elevernas mångkulturella bakgrund. Resultatet visade också att fritidslärarna upplevde att bildskapande aktiviteter genererade pedagogiska konsekvenser i form av ett lugnt känslotillstånd, vidare inspiration i lekar och annat skapande och känsla av gemenskap i gruppen. Fritidslärarna upplevde även att kommunikation och interaktion var naturliga delar av elevernas bildskapande. Vid vår analys använde vi oss av det sociokulturella perspektivet som teoretiskt ramverk, eftersom elevernas sociala samspel kan ha en stor inverkan på bildskapande aktiviteter.

    The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how Swedes writing in English construct number

    concord with collective nouns. This was done by studying three primary corpora: the Swedish

    English Newspaper Corpus (SWENC) and the press sections of Frown (American English)

    and F-LOB (British English). The findings were compared with the results in the Blogs in

    English by Swedes Corpus (BESC), Frown (American English) and F-LOB (British English).

    The SWENC contains texts from three online newspapers and one corporate newsletter in

    English, all of which are written by Swedes. The BESC contains texts from Swedes blogging

    in English. Frown and F-LOB contain texts from fifteen text genres in the 1990s. The results

    in the SWENC are discussed and compared with the press sections of F-LOB and Frown. The

    results are also compared with the BESC, Frown and F-LOB in order to see whether there is

    regional and stylistic variation. The results show that Swedes prefer singular verbal concord

    with collective nouns even though plural forms occur which seem to be closer to F-LOB Press

    (BrE) than Frown Press (AmE). In contrast, the SWENC differs from the press sections of

    Frown and F-LOB in constructing pronominal number. This difference could be influenced

    by Swedish usage which allows both singular and plural pronominal number with collective

    nouns. The study also shows that plural forms of political parties that seem to constitute

    collective units show variation in Sweden whereas such nouns take only plural concord in

    both American and British English.
