    Abstract [en]

    This essay aims to highlight three former florist students' thoughts and experiences of its threeyear secondary school in the Handicraft, focusing florist. All three graduated from the same class in 2011 and is currently active florists. Respondents have been requested to answer questions based on four concepts: creativity, motivation, education and nderstanding. They believe they  have been widely reported during their internships in schools, to be creative, with the exception of one of respondents' experiences during the last year. But the conditions for being creative in school, have seen a little different. Both the physical and psychological environment, and relationships with teachers and other classmates, experience respondents have influenced their motivation to a great extent. All three talk warmly about their internships and raises them as an important key to really understand the profession's requirements. All three respondents have sought high ratings and thought during the whole program that they were important and served as a driving force, but they have not had the benefit of the grades after the fact. None of the respondents consider themselves to be sufficiently formed, either under their own definitions or according to what they feel society and industry, "expect" from them. Change and improvement points that were discussed were better photo opportunities, more plant science, more florist courses during the last year, always have a good budget and fresh material, the journeyman should be included in secondary education as a final exam and the opportunity to work more under time pressure and specific conditions rates and life-like client meetings.

    Abstract [en]

    The companies ought to care about OEE because it is a measure that shows the effect of the performance and quality related losses on the system or equipment. In order to improve OEE, they focus on defining the losses under each OEE elements and try to eliminate these losses.This study aims to enhance raw material inventory management in order to eliminateinventory management related losses and improve OEE.  Lack of raw material and improperstorage of raw material are main problems related to inventory management. A model isdeveloped and tested in order to prevent these problems and eliminate these losses.Performance rate can be improved by preventing idle time due to lack of raw material, andquality rate can be improved by standardization and improving raw material storageprocedure. In the result of model testing, it is shown that raw material inventory managementhas an effect on OEE and OEE can be improved by enhancing raw material inventorymanagement.

    Abstract [en]

    This report is a product of Bachelor Degree Project at Mechanical Engineering department inLinnaeus University, Växjö, Sweden. The project is about a design improvement of industrialcompact mixers.This project is accomplished with Xylem, one of the main suppliers of compact mixers in theindustry, located at Emmaboda, Sweden. The company has a problem with the existing designof the two part, oil housing and entrance cover, in 4610/20 compact mixers. The 4610/20compact mixers has suffered from quality problems which affect the production and the endcustomer because of the existing design of these part. The aim of this study is to improve thequality of the product by redesigning of oil housing and entrance cover. In addition to theredesigning of these parts, another important purpose of the project is to produce these partsfrom different material than existing one.The computer aided design programs are widely used, Solid Works, during the project. Forselection of a new material a wide literature research has been accomplished.

    Abstract [en]

    Today’s school is about being able to mediate knowledge that students will find useful in life and in their chosen occupation with the demands and expectations from both society and the branch. Since we are occupational teachers, many teaching aids are created by us, and the purpose of this project work is to find out how teaching aids can generate motivation and integrate a sociocultural perspective.

    The concepts used in this study are sociocultural perspective, motivation and teaching aids. An overall explanation of the concepts and a literature study which describes different theoretical starting points are implemented in the background. The methods used have been partly literature studies and partly a quantative survey study.

    The results of our study show a combination of students’ answers and different theories from literature. The pupils prefer training, less group work and traditional tests with a deeper meaning, but they would like to have both practical and theoretical presentations from their teachers. There is a need to vary the teaching methods in order to cater for all the students’ needs, which also should be significant for teaching aids that stimulate a sociocultural perspective. Motivation has a different meaning for the students in school and outside of school. In school, grades are an incentive and motivation is associated with drive force and willingness whereas in leisure time, motivation is associated to pleasure.

    Our results have generated a discussion as to how the course structure or teaching aids can be exciting and stimulating to encourage student motivation and drive force.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper presents and analyses a new method for derivation of setting values for strength grading machines. The method uses a model for the relationship between indicating property (measured by a grading machine, IP) and the grade determining property (GDP). This model is of course not perfect and by summarising the errors in the model a confidence interval for the model can be calculated. The confidence interval is used for creating a prediction interval. The lower limit of the prediction interval, the prediction limit, is used to predict the GDP. The prediction limit method is analysed and evaluated by well defined input data. It is shown that fewer perimental data than required by the method in EN 14081-2 today is needed to determine reliable settings but the producer is awarded with less conservative settings with an increased number of experimental data. A weak correlation between IP and GDP or a high coefficient of variation also results in conservative settings. The settings are not dependent on average strength of the raw material used for deriving the settings.

    Abstract [en]

    The paper describes the Output control method in EN 14081-3 as an alternative to the more common machine control method in EN 14081-2 for strength grading of timber. A newly developed program for analysing settings and varying input material is presented, as well as results from the analysis. If output control is used instead of machine control, it is possible to increase the yield, at the expense of making more proof-loading tests. The output control method can hardly catch a shift in input material quality, unless the shift stretches over several weeks. At present is the evaluation of the proof-loading results for MOR and MOE dependant of each other. If one of the properties goes out of control then both properties are evaluated according to the out-of-control procedure. This results in an inconsistent evaluation of the grading result. A pre-grading of logs gives a more reliable grading but results also in a lower yield.

    Abstract [en]

    Bioenergy is a major industry in Sweden and accounts for a significant part of the energy production. Bioenergy in the form of wood chips is stored in piles across the country awaiting combustion. When the piles are acumulated, various processes that heat the stack begin, often to temperatures of 50 °C during the first day. A common approach in the literature is that this temperature rise is due to the aerobic decomposition. This paper will investigate whether the microbial activity is the fundamental cause for warming. The hypothesis is tested by calorimetric measurements of power from the samples of wood chips and simulation of the first day's temperature development in a programme that was desinated.

    For simplicity the model considers an oblong wood chip pile with rectangular cross-section. The pile is then subdivided into appropriately sized calculation cells. The problem is solved by calculating a flow field iteratively. The flow field and the effects that are calculated is then static during one time step for approximately 5-15 minutes. The produced heat energy is then used to calculate a new temperature, which renders a new flow field and new powers. The model uses only explicit methods because they are faster and much easier to programme.

    Several calorimetric experiments were carried out with various samples of wood chips and peat. Samples of bark chips achieved the highest result. The highest power measured was 2.16 W / kg DM. When the effects of this magnitude were used as internal power source in the programme the temperature did not increase corresponding to those measured in reality. This suggests that more than aerobic decomposition is needed to reach a temperature above 50°C.

Underökningen är utförd med hjälp av, och vänder sig främst till elever på Hantverksprogrammet, men kan förhoppningsvis vara till nytta och av intresse även för andra utbildningar.

    I detta examensarbete studeras normbytet från BKR till Eurokod på en tillbyggnad till Växjö sjukhus. Tillbyggnaden kallas Hus X. I studien jämförs lastnedräkning och dimensioneringar mellan normerna, tillämpat på Hus X.Beräkningar och dimensioneringar sker i detta arbete enligt Eurokod. Resultaten jämförs sedan med de resultat som Martin & Co tagit fram enligt BKR.Dimensioneringar som utförs i denna studie är på tre stålpelare och en stålbalk.Materialkostnader kommer att minska något med normbytet. Stomdelarnas dimensioner skiljer sig dock ytterst lite mellan normerna, materialkostnaderna minskar därmed marginellt.

    Syftet med den är undersökningen har varit att skapa en förståelse för att kunna förklara de problem som uppstår vid en lagerflytt mellan produktion och distribution inom ett affärssystem. För att kunna uppnå syftet identifierades de teorier som skulle komma att behövas. Teorierna jämfördes med en nulägesbeskrivning på företaget för att se hur det fungerade i affärssystemet. Analyseringen utav teorierna och nuläget bidrog till att påpeka var problem kunde uppstå eller om de redan fanns inom systemet. Tack vare den analyserade informationen kunde slutligen slutsatser om rekommendationer påpekas för hur problemen skulle kunna motverkas, om inte motarbetas.

    The goal in this thesis was to reduce a multilayer shim model, which was modeled from steel and polymer (isotropic materials), into an equivalent single layer shim model. The procedure was to use mathematical formulations to convert a multilayer shim into an ESL (equivalent single layer) shim. Here, a transverse isotropic model is used to prepare for future orthotropic layers. The results show that the ESL model behaves isotropically. In the 2 layer model there was no squeal noise whereas in the ESL models there is.
