The aim of the following qualitative study was to examine Iraqi refugees living in Sweden, and their lived experiences of using religious coping during their flight from the Iraq war. The purpose of the study was also to investigate Iraqi refugees subjective experiences of their religious and religious engagement in exile. The study's theoretical framework was Religious coping by Kenneth I. Pargament, Charles Glock and Rodney Stark's deprivation theory and Peter Berger & Thomas Luckmann plausibility structure. The present study used a qualitative interview method, semistructured interviews with seven Iraqi refugees living in Sweden. The data collection from the seven interviews with the seven Iraqi refugees, was analyzed using a thematic analysis. As a result from the thematic analysis, four main themes were identified with associated sub-themes: Islam as psychological support during flight as a main theme with the three sub-themes Personal prayer (Dua), Prayer (Salah) and Reading from the Quran. The second main theme was Everyday religion in exile with the two subthemes Enduring faith, Changing practice and Time constraints. The third main theme named Adaption of religiosity with two sub-themes by the name of Societal attitudes toward Islam and Social factors. The last main theme is New perspective on religion with the one sub-theme called Religious identity. The results were alignes with Kenneth I. Pargament's religious coping, Glock and Stark's deprivation theory and Berger and Luckmann's plausibility structure.
