Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to find the answer if two unaccompanied refugee boys fromAfghanistan want to be assimilated or integrated to the Swedish society. Further thisstudy tries to answer which key factors are of value for a positive acculturation inSweden for these two boys.To answer these two questions semi-structured interviews were used. The answers wereanalysed in relation to scientific facts and research on the subject from a hermeneuticresearch theoretical point of view. By the qualitative interview method, the study showsthat the two boys want to be integrated and not assimilated. I have also come toconclusion that positive factors for the acculturation for adaption in the Swedish societyis language, residential area, social support and that the boys didn ́t feel discriminated inSweden. This study shows that the biggest negative impact on motivation to adapt to theSwedish society is not to be given a permanent residence.
