Abstract [en]

The issue of vertical load distribution in floor slabs made of hollow-core slabs, which is an important but not well-recognised design issue, is investigated in this paper. Various standards' provisions on load distribution are briefly presented. A comparative study has been performed which showed a large scatter of results, especially when the PCI Manual and EN 1168 provisions are compared for shear force distribution. Support reactions obtained from mentioned design models are also compared with experimental test results done in 1991 on six 400 mm deep and 12 meters long slabs.
