Att alla producerande företag vill öka sin produktivitet är ett rimligt antagande. Ett sätt att göra detta är att minska kostnaderna, t.ex. genom att använda färre resurser, färre personal eller använda den existerande på ett mer kostnadseffektivt sätt. Denna uppsats tar upp sätt att förbättra produktionseffektiviteten genom att ha ett mer kostnadseffektivt underhåll och bättre samarbete och kvalité mellan underhåll, produktion, och ledningen. Den empiriska datan insamlades genom intervjuver, observationer, enkäter, och genom existerande dokumentation hos företaget. Detta kombinerat med den litteratur vi har studerat under kursens gång ligger till grund för vårt projekt. Vår analys består av tre delar. I den första delen analyserar vi den nuvarande situationen i företaget utifrån tre punkter; företaget, kommunikationen, och underhåll och produktion. I den andra delen diskuterar vi dessa punkter utifrån synsättet och filosofin av Totalt Produktivt Underhåll (TPU) och slutligen i den tredje delen använde vi oss av de metoder och verktyg, som tas upp inom TPU, i deras nuvarande arbetssituation och förde på så sätt in konceptet av TPU i företaget. Genom utförandet av detta projekt hoppas vi att företaget får nya idéer om hur de kan identifiera och förbättra sin struktur och produktion och vi hoppas även att den föreslagna TPU-modellen kan hjälpa och inspirera andra företag inom samma bransch och produktion.

It’s reasonable to assume that every company that’s involved in production wants to improve their production efficiency. One way of doing this is to find ways of cutting costs, e.g. through using fewer resources, fewer personnel or utilizing the existing production systems in a more cost effective way. This thesis looks at ways of improving production efficiency by having more cost effective maintenance and better cooperation and quality between maintenance, production, and management. The empirical data was collected through interviews, observations, surveys, and through existing documentation from the company. This combined with the literature studied during this course is the basis for our research. Our analysis consists of three parts. In the first part we analyzed the current situation of the case company in terms of three topics; the corporation, communication, and maintenance and production. In the second part we discuss these three topics from the viewpoint and philosophy of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and finally in the third part we used and applied the methods and tools, suggested in TPM, in their current work environment and subsequently applied the concept of TPM in the case company. By conducting this research we hope that the company will get new ideas of how to identify and improve their current structure and production, and we also hope that the applied and suggested model of TPM will help and inspire other companies within the same branch of production to do the same.
