Abstract [en]
This thesis aims to examine whether political parties have a tendency to change their profiles after having entered a political collaboration. This thesis is a comparative study between the Swedish parties Moderaterna and Liberalerna. The thesis is structured in such a way that three different time periods have been chosen, 1988 which is before the two parties entered a collaboration called Alliansen, 2006 when the parties entered a collaboration and 2014, after a long-term collaboration, the thesis has also been limited by only focusing on a political issue, school. The material being used is the two parties’ political programs revolving the three different time periods. And has a base in the cartel party theory to conduct an analysis of the situation. The result of the thesis is that both parties have in some ways changed their profiles over the time period, and that Liberalerna in some ways have adapted their profile to the political profile Alliansen has. However, it cannot be stated that these changes can be fully associated with the cartel party theory.
