The packaging waste has a huge impact on the environment and human health. It becomes worse because with the fast development of e-commerce, express industry is developed rapidly and the demands of package increase. The study explores an approach to decrease packaging waste from the C2C platform by encouraging buyers to recycle. Due to the different types of logistics service on B2C and C2C platforms, the situation is worse on the C2C platform. Additionally, the consumption of the C2C platform occupies most e-commerce market. Service design as the main design field provides a systematic and holistic design thinking to do the project. Literature review and case study are conducted to collect data. Improving consciousness of recycling for consumers has benefits to reduce packaging waste. Therefore, a deposit return service is proposed to encourage consumers to take recycling actions. It is a closed-cycle system which includes the whole life cycle of the express packaging.
