Genom att växla mellan olika genrer är syftet med essän att gestalta ett mammablivande i dialog med den debatt och statliga utredning som pågår om internationell adoption. Avsikten är att formulera ett föräldraperspektiv men också att väcka liv i en plats som har kommit att bli en del av familjen. Kärleken till barnet och privilegiet att bli mamma på bekostnad av en annan kvinna har varit drivkraften. 

Att inte låsa mig vid en genre har gjort det möjligt att nyansera en erfarenhet som är min. Sakprosaavsnitten kan ses som motdiskurs till mitt perspektiv på bilden av ett land och ett moderskap som kommer med ett prefix. Det är samtidigt en metod att vidga mina föreställningar om identitet och de maktkonstruktioner som internationell adoption bygger på. På så sätt fyller sakprosan och de dokumenterande avsnitten en funktion som resonansbotten till de sceniska, liksom citaten som inleder vissa avsnitt stärker och går i dialog med min version. 

By a blend of different genres, the aim of the Essay is to portray an experience of becoming a mother. Through a dialogue with the debate and Official Report of the Swedish Government on international adoptions, my endeavor is to portray a motherhood, but also to embody a country that has become a part of the family. The love of a child and the privilege to become a mother at the expense of another woman is the mainspring. 

The blend of genres becomes a linguistic strategy to nuance an experience that is solely mine. The non-fiction and documentary episodes can be looked upon as a counter-discourse to my concept of a country and of a motherhood attached to a prefix. It is also a method to impugn my conception of identity and the power-mechanisms which international adoptions are built on. The prose, non-fiction and documentary episodes reflect and amplify the lyric ones, as well as the quotes that commence some episodes emphasize and challenge my voice.
