Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This artistic degree project consists of the novel Love with Hands Wide Open – a contemporary narrative exploring non-monogamous relationships, emotional boundaries, and female friendship. Through the protagonist Liv, the story depicts how so-called free love can lead to power imbalance when open communication and mutual respect are lacking. The novel is written in third person present tense, with a strong use of interior monologue to deepen the reader’s understanding of the protagonist’s inner life. Dialogue plays a central role in the narrative, and the style is characterized by an accessible, rhythmic language with a clear forward momentum. The work has evolved through an intuitive writing process in which characters and scenes have emerged organically. At its core, the novel explores whether love is ultimately about freedom or responsibility, independence or mutuality.
