Layout development with Systematic LayoutPlanning and workspace safety (English)
Abstract [en]

he aim of this thesis is to suggest a new layout for an industrial perassembly area. The methodology used in this study is systematic layout planning while ensuring a safe and ergonomic work environment. The study was conducted as a case study at Kalmar Motor AB, a manufacturer of push-back tractors for planes. Qualitative methods such as interviews, observations, measurements and analysis of internal incident reports were used. The current layout for pre-assembly was mapped and analyzed to identify workflow bottlenecks and existing safety risks. Based on the analysis, three different layout suggestions were developed. These suggestions aim to achieve a more efficient workflow and improved workplace safety. The proposed layout also offers flexibility for future changes and expansion. The study provides concrete recommendations for layout implementations. It also emphasizes the importance of integratingsystematic layout planning with lean principles such as 5S and work environment standards to design industrial layouts that meet both productivity in workflow and safety objectives
