This article deals with the intensification of work in printing houses and how workers and their trade union tried to resist these ambitions of employers and managements of the printing houses. It also deals with the bad working conditions and how they made typographers die at very young ages in the beginning of the nineteenth century as well as the typographers' successful struggle for better working conditions and social security.
