This is a review of a monograph in the series Handbuch der Orientalistik, which gives an overview of forms of warfare in Southeast Asia in the period 1300-1900. The review is basically positive to the achievement of the book, which will prove to be an indispensable research tool. However, the author of the monograph appears to be more at home with the Southeast Asian mainland context than with the island world.
