The study aimed to see if it was possible to detect differences between a website that is primarily directed towards women and a website that is expected to be used mostly by men. The focus of the study was on women's wishes and views, which were taken up in theory and previous research. It also examined whether there were any gender differences in the expected gender-neutral websites. The study was conducted on the websites amelia.se, fiskejournalen.se, forsakringskassan.se and nordea.com. The websites were first studied quantitatively, and then a qualitative study was made. In addition, a number of open questions were raised to each of the web-masters. The conclusion of the study showed that the majority of differences occurred in the design of the websites that were aimed primarily towards both women and men. This was shown mainly through the colours used for the background and text, as well as in the number of images displayed on the websites. More colours and images were used on the website intended primarily for women than on the website intended mainly for men, which instead, contained a dark background colour and more moving images. The expected neutral sites also bore traces of the prejudices that exist in terms of gender. But there the domination of what is usually seen as feminine or masculine on the website is more connected to the expectations that are specific for the company /organisation in question.
