Cycling tourism is an important product in the tourism industry. There are routs and trails built for the cycle tourists in Sweden and there is a development of cycle tourism. Gotland is often called the bike island, but not Öland, although Öland has the same basic conditions as Gotland. Several operators are now developing cycling tourism on Öland, but the question is what influences the growth of cycle tourism? The purpose of the study was to do an inventory of the phenomenon that leads or slow down the development of cycling tourism on Öland. To answer the question, a qualitative method was used and several interviews were carried out. In conclusion, my analysis found that infrastructure is needed. Cycle routs free from cars, as the roads today are narrow and there is also a lot of traffic in the summer. It is expensive to build routs for cyclists, although it involves income as well. An association has produced a proposal to build a cycle route using the old, closed railway line. To put the different cycle products together and sell them as a package solution makes it easier and more time efficient for the customer. Öland Turist AB has sold package solutions a long time. Recently a new operator has turned up on the market to sell package solutions with a cultural touch to the cycle tourists. For some cycle tourists, crossing the bridge to Öland could be an attraction. Today it is not allowed to cross due to heavy traffic. To come up with a sustainable form of tourism transport would be the best solution. Cycling tourism is a sustainable form of tourism transport worth to put money in.
