The numbers of Somali immigrants in Swedenhas increased during the last years and there isa need of more competence for teachingSwedish as a second language to thisgroup.Star This paper investigates aspects ofdifficulties in the pronunciation of Swedish forSomali speakers. Recordings of two Somalispeakers living in Sweden have been analyzedand it is obvious that there are pronunciationdifferences between Somali-accented Swedishand standard Swedish depending on thephonology in the two languages.
